My Singing Monsters

Don't let the diminutive size of the Yelmut fool you - it's a Quad-Element Monster and has the pipes to prove it. That said, the Monster often takes full advantage of its pint-sized stature and gelatinous body to squeeze through cracks and crevices you would never expect it to fit through. The only thing that Yelmut has to be mindful of is not attempting to squeeze through any space in which its decorative headgear may get stuck - don't you dare call it a hat, now! Still a touchy subject.

Description[]

Yelmut is a Quad-Element Fire Monster that is found on Light Island and Amber Island. It was added alongside Epic Boskus on February 9th, 2022, during version 3.4.0. As a Quad-Element Fire Monster on a Magical Island, Yelmut is only available at select times. When available, it is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 300 Relics (Relics). By default, its incubation time is 1 day and 16 hours long. Yelmut has a high Coin production on Light Island, comparable to Blow't and Tiawa. The Goal for placing your first Yelmut rewards the player with 100,000 Coins (Coins) and 4 Relics.

On Amber Island, Yelmut is only available at select times. When available, it is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 30 Relics as a Vessel, which then can be revitalized by zapping eggs into it. As a Fire Quad-Elemental, Yelmut has an excellent Relic production.

Song[]

Audio sample:

Voice actor: (Amber Island - from archival footage): Erick Desjardins, (Light Island): Tom Meikle[1]

Yelmut's song is a powerful vocal ensemble consisting of prolonged notes in a "loose" harmony.

On Amber Island, Yelmut's sound is identical to its sound on the Continent. However, it has been pitch shifted up to a B natural, unlike the B flat in its original sound. It sings alongside Floogull, Glowl, Stogg, and others in the sections before PongPing's parts.

On Light Island, Yelmut sings alongside the rest of the Monsters (except Furcorn, Fluoress, and the Dipsters) near the end of the song.

On Mirror Light Island, Yelmut plays at the beginning of the song with Pluckbill, Flowah, Drummidary, and Sooza.

Breeding[]

Unlike in Dawn of Fire, Yelmut cannot be bred. Instead, it must be purchased from the Market. On Amber Island, it must be purchased as an inactive Vessel and revitalized by zapping eggs.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Yelmut:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Note: On Amber Island, all of Yelmut's likes are only obtainable for a limited time. Amber Vessels must be revitalized before they count towards Yelmut's happiness.

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Yelmut or when Yelmut and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Yelmut's likes as well:

Revitalizing[]

On Amber Island, Yelmut must be powered up rather than being bred. Unlike Wublins and Celestials, the allotted time to fill a Vessel does not start when the first egg is zapped, but instead are only available to purchase and fill at select times. The inventory must be completed in this time. When a purchased vessel is incomplete after the time, it will disappear and half of the relics spent will be given back. You will also get the option to revive Yelmut by purchasing the missing eggs with Diamonds. Eggs can be zapped from Mirror Islands instead of, or in conjunction with Natural and Magical Islands.

Filling In[]

Like other Monsters on Amber Island, Yelmut can instead be filled in with Diamonds. Each egg can be filled in for 40Diamonds. Yelmut requires a total of 1,120Diamonds for all eggs to be filled.

Since all eggs have an equal Diamond fill cost, it is best to save your Diamonds for the Monsters that are harder to obtain. And oftentimes, it is cheaper to speed up eggs to zap from the Breeding Structure instead.

Wildcards may also be used when filling in a Yelmut's inventory with 1 Wildcards per egg. Similarly, it's best to save them for harder to obtain Monsters.

Statistics[]

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Relics per month (28 days) and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.

Notes[]

  • Yelmut's name is a portmanteau of "yell", and the German name "Helmut"; a word that derives from the Germanic elements helm (meaning "helmet", "protection").
  • Yelmut was the third Fire Quad-Element Monster to come back to the original game, along with Tring and Sneyser.
  • Yelmut was the first Quad-Element Monster to go to Amber Island.
  • Yelmut's ability to squeeze itself through small crevices as long as its headgear fits through is probably based on the similar abilities of the octopus, which can fit through any space larger than its own beak, the only hard part of its body.
  • Yelmut appears to be bigger than in Dawn of Fire.
  • Yelmut sleeps with its eyes open, making it the fifth Monster to do so, with the first being Tympa, the second being RhooTz the Epic Thumpie, the third being Squot, the fourth being Cantorell, with the sixth one being Cherubble. It has been confirmed by the Monster-Handlers that this is because its decorative headgear provides enough shade to shield its eyes from light.
    • Interestingly, this no longer appears to be the case of Version 4.8.1, as Yelmut’s Apt Apiarist costume features a semi-opaque visor, that, when muted, shows Yelmut sleeping with its eyes fully closed.
  • On Amber Island, Yelmut reuses its sound from Dawn of Fire due to its original voice actor leaving Big Blue Bubble.
    • Originally, Dan Rickard, who voiced Enchantling, would've also voiced Yelmut, but he left before any sounds for Yelmut could be recorded, with no one else able to accurately recreate Erick Desjardins' voice (he originally voiced Yelmut in Dawn of Fire).
  • Yelmut is the second Quad in the original game to take up a 2x2 space, with the first being Pladdie.
  • Yelmut was originally supposed to be on Light Island. In one of the Boskus tracks, you can hear Woolabee in the background, meaning that Tweedle would’ve replaced Fluoress as the Single Element, and Yelmut would’ve replaced Blow't as the Quad.
    • With the release of the Fire Expansion update however, Yelmut was indeed added to Light Island, alongside Tiawa and Drummidary.
  • Yelmut is one of only two Monsters to have the Air Element on Light Island, the other being Drummidary.
  • Yelmut has the longest track on Light Island.
    • It also has the longest track in the whole game.
  • According to Monster-Handler Tyson, Yelmut gets its headgear from the egg it hatches from, similar to how Congle recycles its egg to use as its instrument; The headgear grows with the Yelmut so that it fits perfectly onto the head of the Yelmut.
  • Yelmut's design in the original game's art style was teased in this Twitter post a month before Amber Island came out.
  • The orange feather on Yelmut's decorative headgear bears the Colossals' signature, which can also be seen on Amber Island.
  • Yelmut's Light Island track has 48 beats when counting in 4/4 time, making it one of the few tracks with an amount of beats that is not a power of 2.
  • There is currently an error in the Fan Kit where Yelmut's egg is shown to be golden replica atop its Vessel on Amber Island, which of course is not the case.
