My Singing Monsters

Even though it may look like the Whisp doesn't get out too often, nothing could be further from the truth. It loves to swoop, glide and careen through the phantasmagorical terrain of Ethereal Island, entertaining other Monsters with its mellifluous voice and charming conversational skills. Whisps don't cast reflections in mirrors, which makes it difficult to preen their stylish hairdos.

Song[]

Audio sample:

Voice actress: Maggie Park (Ethereal Island), ”Berk” (wishes to remain anonymous) (Plasma Islet)[1], Jenn Iannessa (Shadow Islet)[2]

Whisp's contribution to Ethereal Island's song comes after each time Grumpyre sings. It is a slow, but consistent, "Oh-way-oh-way... oh-way-ohh... oh-way-oh... ohh".

Whisp's contribution to Plasma Islet's song is a slow, but consistent, "Oh-way-oh-way-ohh... Oh-way-oh-wayy... Oh-way-oh-way-ohh... Oh-way-oh-WAYY", with delayed echoes and sounds of calm winds.

Breeding[]

Whisp can be bred using a combination of two Single-Element Ethereal Monsters. The combination is:

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Whisp:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Whisp or when Whisp and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Whisp's likes as well:

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Shards per hour and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.

Notes[]

  • Whisp's name may come from "Will-o'-the-wisp" (or simply Will o'wisp), fantasmagoric lights that appear in marshes or swamps. "Whisp" is an archaic spelling of "wisp", simply meaning something very thin. Furthermore, Whisp sings in a whisper, as with its name.
  • Whisp is the first Ethereal Monster to have a Costume, along with Reebro, who also received a Spooktacle costume in 2015. It was also the only Double-Element Ethereal with a Costume, before the Double Element Ethereals were added to the Colossingum in version 4.1.0.
  • Whisp was the last Ethereal to get a Rare variant, despite being one of the first three Common Double-Element Ethereals to be released.
    • Coincidentally, it was the first Double-Element Ethereal to get an Epic variant.
      • Similarly, Fung Pray, the final Double-Element Ethereal hybrid, was the FIRST to get a Rare variant and the LAST to get an Epic Variant.
  • Whisp's dress-like body seems to be made of lace, as seen from the bottom part of the dress.
  • Whisp may or may not have legs, as seen in the bio for its Rare variant.
  • Whisp has been said to share a spiritual connection with Withur.
  • In the spin-off "Jammer Splash", Whisp is referred to as she/her in its avatar description.
  • Whisp's concept art was reused for Frondley. It was also later used for Whaill.
  • Common Whisp is the only Whisp variant to close its mouth during its idle animation.
  • If not counting The Colossingum, Whisp is currently tied with Ghazt, Reebro, Nebulob and Arackulele for taking the longest time to appear on a new Island, with 11 and a half years passing in the time between its respective additions to Ethereal Island and Plasma Islet.
  • There is currently a glitch in-game where if the Cute Corsair Costume is equipped on a Whisp on Shadow Islet, its hat disappears during its singing animations. This has yet to be fixed.
