My Singing Monsters Wiki

Some Ethereals prefer to whisper, while others favor wailing. The Quad-Element Whaill is the latter, so-named for the ululations that gurgle forth from its many mouths. Although at first blush these sounds seem melodious, over time they can elicit feelings of dread and disorientation in the listener. That's because the sound waves the Whaill produces actually begin to tear apart the fabric of space time and threaten to expose reality to the Rift, the world between worlds. But how can the polystomatous Plasma Boss help it? When you have hands for mouths and mouths for hands, there's little else that you can do but wail.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Whaill is a Quad-Element Ethereal Monster found on Ethereal Workshop. It was added alongside Flasque, Nitebear, Rare Monculus, Rare Scargo, and Epic Bellowfish on December 13th, 2023 during Version 4.1.2. As a Quad-Element Ethereal on Ethereal Workshop, it is obtained by successfully extracting the energies of a Plasma Meeb, a Shadow Meeb, a Mech Meeb, and a Crystal Meeb, using the Refined Synthesizer by spending 5,000 Shards. Its successful Synthesis time is 1 day and 18 hours long. As a Quad-Element Ethereal, Whaill has a high Shard production. The Goal for placing your first Whaill rewards the player with 200 Shards.

Song[]

Audio:

Voice actors: Maggie Park (main vocals) and Dave Kerr (background vocals)

Whaill's contribution to the song is a choir (presumably a hextuplet) of "ahh". Unlike most vocalist monsters that sing "ahh", Whaill's "ahh" has no attack/hold to it, making it sound more rough and coarse. It plays with every monster on the Workshop during the final verse except Piplash.

Synthesizing[]

Whaill is only available for purchase or synthesizing on Ethereal Workshop. As a Quad-Element Ethereal, it requires a preexisting Triple-Element Ethereal "to build upon", two Meebs attuned to each of the Triple-Element Ethereal's Elements, and three Meebs attuned to the fourth Element in the Refined Synthesizer. The following Triple-Elementals can be used to synthesize Whaill:

There is no indication that Synthesis chances are affected by what combination is used. Of the four Triple-Element Monsters you can use, Yooreek is the easiest to obtain, as it is the most stable out of the four combinations.

Note that the successful synthesis of Whaill will result in the Triple-Element Ethereal Monster being lost in the process.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Whaill:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Whaill or when Whaill and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Whaill's likes as well:

Notes[]

  • Whaill represents the Plasma Element, just like Plixie, the Celestial that shares it.
    • This is referenced in its bio.
    • Whaill is the first Quad-Element Monster to be released after the Celestial its Element is represented by.
  • Whaill's name is a corruption of (and sounds like) the word "wail", but it could also double as a portmanteau with "ill" and "ail".
    • This is referenced in its bio.
    • Albeit a coincidence, Whaill's name is similar to Whisp's possible nickname "Whail".
  • Whaill is the first Quad-Element Ethereal to be added to the game.
  • Whaill is the most stable Ethereal Quad-Elemental, as Plasma is the most stable element and it lacks the Poison ElementPoison Element, which is the most unstable.
  • Whaill was originally supposed to be the Magical Sanctum Quad-Element Monster, but it ultimately got replaced by Enchantling.
    • It is also based on Enchantling's concept art, and it only slightly resembles Whisp in both appearance (the hair) and color (light blue).
  • Whaill's release added a track for Gaddzooks that was previously heard in the latter's teaser video.
  • Whaill was one of the first Monsters added to Ethereal Workshop with recorded vocals, along with Nitebear.
  • According to the December 2023 MSM Live episode, Whaill is part of the same family of Whisp and Withur, known as the Gaba-ghouls family.
    • This makes Whaill the first Quad-Element Monster to be part of a Monster family.
  • According to the December 2023 MSM Live episode, ex-BBB employee Maggie Park was given the opportunity to voice Whaill due to the imbalance of Seasonal Monsters that she and her husband, Dave Kerr, would be returning to voice for the upcoming Seasonal Events in Dawn of Fire.
    • Dave Kerr voices 4/5 Core Seasonal Monsters (Punkleton, Yool, Schmoochle, and Blabbit, barring their Seasonal Shanty tracks), while Maggie Park only voices Hoola (again, except on Seasonal Shanty and, to a lesser extent, the Surely You Jest trailer). This, combined with the fact that Dave recorded the tracks for Mimic in the same session as the young Seasonals, explains the decision to give Maggie an additional voice role in the form of Whaill, as not to underrepresent her likeness.
    • It was also noted that Maggie Park originally provided the voice of Whisp, a monster within the same family as Whaill, which further influenced the decision.
    • Maggie provides the main vocals for Whaill, while Dave provides the background vocals, thus making Whaill the first, and currently only, vocal monster that both of them have voiced together.
  • Whaill uses its scrapped concept art design for its current Memory Game icon, similarly to Wubbox.
  • Whaill was the only Monster to be added to Ethereal Workshop without all of its Likes. It only had three released likes until the release of Oogiddy.
  • Whaill seems to be a slightly different shade of blue in its breeding icon, being more greenish.
  • Whaill and Whisp seem to have the same light blue color.
    • The light blue color could also be referencing Deedge's elements. (Plant ElementPlant, Cold ElementCold, Air ElementAir, Water ElementWater) (Plasma, Shadow, Mech, Crystal)
  • There is an error with Whaill's design in-game where its lips are miscolored. This error has yet to be fixed.
  • Whaill is the first Ethereal Monster to lack eyes.
  • Similar to Frondley and Gaddzooks, Whaill’s second track was released after the Monster itself, with Whaill being released in December 2023 (Workshop wave 2) and its second track being added during June 2024 (Workshop wave 5).
  • Whaill and Oogiddy are the only pair of Quad-Element Monsters on Ethereal Workshop to like each other, and the only Quad-Element Ethereals to like other Quad-Element Monsters in general.
    • Coincidentally, Whaill was the first and most stable Quad-Element Ethereal to be released, while Oogiddy was the last and most unstable.
