| “ | This Mythical shares many traits with a certain Fire Monster, but its preferred habitat couldn't be more different. The masterless Strombonin is a drifter… well and truly, as it drifts upon the ice floes that surround Cold Island. The only company it typically keeps is that of a specialized cold-weather snail called the Strombone whose pallial lungs possess unique musical qualities. Albeit being stoic and reserved itself, the hexapod's presence is unmistakable when it bellows forth rebellious decibels with the help of its mollusk companion. | ” |

Description[]
Strombonin is a Mythical Monster that is first found on Cold Island and can be teleported to Mythical Island once fed to level 15. Its design features were decided in partnership of the community, through a series of polls during Month of the Mythical. It was added on September 1st, 2022, during version 3.7.0. Strombonin is best obtained by breeding Spunge and Bowgart. By default, its breeding time is 23 hours long. Despite being an elusive Mythical Monster, Strombonin does not have a high Coin production. The Goal for placing your first Strombonin rewards the player with 5 Diamonds (

Song[]
Audio Sample:
Instrument: Trombone
Strombonin contributes a robust, acutely dynamic sound with its trombone (called a Strombone). Its Cold Island track is simple in form, consisting of 4 renditions of an anacrusis, a loud note drawn out for 2 measures alternating between D# and E, and a soft, staccato, threefold repetition of G#. On the final rendition, Strombonin plays the latter phrase louder, with faster notes, and with a fall from the last note. Its Mythical Island tracks are particularly melodic.
Strombonin's Mythical Island tracks are frequently embellished with tonguing, glissandos, and falls. Tonguing is a technique for wind instruments wherein the performer taps or trills their tongue on their palate, reed, or mouthpiece to cut the airflow and play faster notes, while exhalation remains steady.
On Cold Island, Strombonin plays in the last verse of the song. On Mirror Cold Island, it plays closer to the beginning, right before Deedge comes in. On Mythical Island, it plays throughout the beginning section and leads the transition into the first Sporerow verse, then it continues to play in the next verse into the section with Cherubble.

Breeding[]
On Cold Island, Strombonin can be obtained by breeding Spunge and Bowgart. Note that it's not a 100% success rate, but the chances can be increased with Wishing Torches.

On Mythical Island, a duplicate Strombonin can be obtained via unsuccessful breeding for a Cranchee, which has only one combination:

Likes[]
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Strombonin:

Statistics[]
Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]
Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

Egg Consumption[]
- Main article: Zapping
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Strombonin eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Strombonin eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Strombonin is not required for the Celestial to ascend. Also note that Mythical Monsters, like Strombonin, cannot be zapped from Mythical Island.

Notes[]
- Strombonin's name could possibly be a mixture of "trombone", "strom", German for "current" or "power", "strombus", a genus which comprises of large sea snails with conch shells, and "pangolin", the animal that Strombonin is based off of, as well as "rōnin", a wandering Japanese samurai without a master who could be known as a drifter, Zamboni, a machine used to smooth the ice in skating rinks, and -ing a suffix used to describe doing an action (playing the strombone could be stromboning).
- The later-released Rare Strombonin was based on a samurai, referencing the "rōnin" aspect of its name.
- Strombonin's design is based on a pangolin.[1]
- Strombonin's facial features are similar to Marcus Pfister's The Rainbow Fish, notably the titular character.
- All of Strombonin's decoration likes are Creator Experience decorations.
- One of Strombonin's likes, the Kab's Wax, is themed around Fire Haven, which could be a reference to its relative, Repatillo, living there.
- Strombonin was the first Mythical Monster to release since 2014.
- The Monster inside the conch is a Strombone, while the Monster that blows the conch is Strombonin.
- Strombonin is the first Mythical to release by itself.
- In Episode 1 of Quick Questions with Monster-Handler Tyson, it was confirmed that Strombonin is a distant cousin of Repatillo, similar to the relationship between G'joob and G'day.
- If a Strombonin were to be separated from its Strombone, it will search high and low until it has found it again, keeping the discipline to never give up.[2]
A sketch of a Strombone humming a congenial croon to its larger half, possibly as part of a bedtime routine.
- Strombonin is the first Monster to be created in partnership with the community. The second is Buzzinga.
- Possibly as part of a bedtime routine, the Strombone has been seen humming a quiet melody, or "congenial croon," to Strombonin, calming its larger half.
- The Strombone is most likely based on the Queen Conch (from the Strombidae family) due to its size, pink coloration, silly little eyestalks, and the historic use of conch shells as brass-like instruments, such as the horagai, which has a direct connection to Japanese samurai.
- Strombonin is the first and only brass instrumental Monster on Cold Island and Mythical Island.
- A faint glow can be seen on the Strombonin's scales.
