“ | So-named for the series of steps it creates to summon its sectaries, the Stair Shaper is a life form alien to the Monster World. That said, it shares some important similarities with the Colossals: its aspirations to create life and its musical affinity. Thus, it came to devise the novel mode of transportation called Transposition: it can vibrate matter at a different musical key and cause it to 'step' up or down to access new physical states. The statue that resides on the Nexus is but one of many forms that the Stair Shaper can take, but this form is best-suited to receive Transposed Magicals and vibrate them at the proper frequency to ensure maximum compatibility. Don't panic - even though the sensation of being Transposed to a different state of being can be disorienting, it's worth the trip. | ” |
Description[]
The Stair Shaper is a Structure found on Magical Nexus. It essentially acts as the Island's Nursery, as it is where the Monster eggs are Transposed. In the lore, the Stair Shaper is the creator of the Magical Monsters (only the ones found on Nexus and the Magical Islands), the mentor of the Magical Titans, and the former of the Magical Islands and their Mirror versions.
Notes[]
- The text "ponder the orb" that appears when a Monster is done transposing is a reference to a meme of the same name.
- The Stair Shaper is currently the largest item in the game, taking up a total of 36 grid squares.
- The Stair Shaper's design was inspired in part by the Japanese daruma doll.[1]
- The orb incubation times of all monsters are exactly 18 hours longer than their standard incubation times.
- The Stair Shaper is not a Colossal but shares similarities to them, such as its love of music and creation.
- The Stair Shaper created the Magical Monsters.
- The Stair Shaper likes to hitchhike across galaxies.
- It, and thus Magical Nexus, doesn't reside in the Monster World proper, but in a crossroads between universes known as The Beyond.
- It likely came across the Monster World after the Cataclysm but before the Contemporary Era, since the Magical Nexus bio insinuates that it dispatched the Magical Island Titans to become Islands around the same time it found the Monster World.
- The wording almost makes it seem like the Stair Shaper only learned of the Monster World after it heard what happened to its Colossals.
- The Stair Shaper is responsible for creating the Star Rocks, leaving them on every island it has visited.
- The line "Don't Panic" at the end of its bio might be a reference to Douglas Adams' book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
- The Stair Shaper is related in some way to the Dream Crafter. Both come from the same world and know of each other's existence.
