Song
Audio sample:
Instrument: Whistle
The Spunge Monster's song is a smooth whistling sound. On Cold Island, it sings " G# B C# B D#-----, G# B C# B D# F# D#, C# B".
Breeding
The Spunge can be bred using monsters that combine to provide the elements of Air , Plant and Water . Possible combination(s):
Because the Toe Jammer takes much less time to hatch than either Potbelly or Tweedle, and all of the two-element monsters require the same amount of time, the first combination will provide more breeding opportunities in the same time period (on average).
Spunge can also be bred in a breeding failures. Some combinations that result in a Spunge in a breeding failure include:
+
Spunge
and Rare Spunge
(Best choice, 100% chance of a Spunge if Rare Spunge is unavailable)
(Good choice, 1% chance of a Grumpyre/Jeeode)
Likes
Every monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the monster, the monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a monster will still only increase its happiness by 25%. If there's a Unity Tree on the island, items don't need to be near the monsters. Below are the things liked by Spunge:
- Dandidoo (requires level 9)
- Stritch Skin (level 6)
- Barbloo Statue (level 13)
- Bloofi Tree (level 12) (

Statistics
Earning Rate and Maximum Income
Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.
Feeding Monsters
Each monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the monster's level increases the coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum coins earned.

Egg Consumption
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels can be used to "dispose of" Spunge eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available.

|
Note that bred Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" into inactive Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels; active ones do not accept Monster eggs. Also note that inactive Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Spunge eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs.

Notes
- Spunge's name likely comes from the Sponge, probably because the two creatures are able to absorb air and water, and spray it when necessary.
- The Spunge appears on a T-shirt, in which the Spunge blows the seeds out of an unsuspecting Dandidoo. The Dandidoo then starts to feel sad, and the Spunge feels bad and starts to cry. The Dandidoo then cheers up the Spunge by kissing it, then they hug. This is presented in comic form, and this may be the reason why Spunge likes Dandidoo.
- The Spunge's arms are similar to that of the concept Maw.
- For an unknown reason, the Spunge's playing animation was changed during Spooktacle 2018.
- The Spunge's spots stick out more in DoF.
- The Spunge is the first triple-elemental monster to take up a 3x3 tile space. The second is Withur, the third is Spytrap, and the fourth is G'day.
- Spunges love hugs
- Spunge's whistle can be really strong, as seen in the Light Island trailer, it caused all candles to extinguish from Fire Haven, it caused a snowstorm on Cold Island, and it blew all of the leaves away on Plant Island.
- It was on Gold Island at the time, meaning that Spunge’s whistle is so strong that it can blow air onto a different dimensional plane.
- Spunge, Toe Jammer, Maw, Pummel, Scups, Barrb, Nebulob, Jellbilly, Blipsqueak, and Plixie are the only monsters with a liquid interior.
- A group of Spunges is called a "Splash" of Spunges.[citation needed]
