According to monster lore, the ancestors of the Sox were self-conscious of the gaping holes in their tails. Over time, it was discovered that eating precious stones spurred the growth of peculiar metal pads over the holes. Quite by accident, Soxes learned they could use them, along with their tube-like snouts, to create smooth musical riffs! The age-old mystery of 'What does the Sox say' has now been solved.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Sox is a Double-Element Ethereal Monster exclusive to Ethereal Island. It was added on January 10th, 2014 during Version 1.2.4. It is best obtained by breeding Ghazt and Jeeode. By default, its breeding time is 1 day and 18 hours long. As a Double-Element Ethereal, Sox does not have a high Shard production.

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Earning rate is in Shards per hour and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Feeding Monsters[]

Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the shards earned per minute, as well as the maximum shards earned.

  • Sox's name is a portmanteau of "fox" and "sax," since the creature resembles a cross between a fox and a saxophone.
  • Sox is a direct reference to the music video "What Does The Fox Say?" , hence its bio saying "What Does The Sox Say?".
    • A teaser for Sox includes a play on some lyrics of What Does the Fox Say?. Link here.
    • A few of the possible nicknames for Sox come from lyrics from the song as well.
  • Sox never seems to use the key at the very bottom of its tail.
  • Sox is the only Double-Element Ethereal with the Plasma Element to not sing.
  • Sox's Season of Love Costume, Careless Kit, is a reference to the song Careless Whisper by George Michael.
