- This article is about the Monster. For the Island, see Shugabush Island.
“ | Despite originating from a warm climate, the kindly Shugabush is unusually furry. Its penchant for sweet treats is legendary, second only to its skill as a performer. The felt hat that adorns its head, which it has been overheard calling a phay-door-uh, is one of its prized possessions, alongside its trusty mandolin, of course. The Shugabush revels in jamming along with other monsters and is a true embodiment of the spirit of collaboration. | ” |

Description
Shugabush is a member of the Legendary Shugafam class of Monsters, and is found on Plant Island. It was added on July 29th, 2013 during Version 1.1.7. Shugabush was created in collaboration with musical artist Kristian Bush of the Sugarland duo.
It can be obtained by breeding Bowgart and Clamble. By default, its incubation time is 35 hours long, or 1 day and 11 hours long. Despite being an elusive Legendary Monster, Shugabush does not have a high Coin production. The Goal for placing your first Shugabush rewards the player with 100,000 .
When fed to level 15, it can be teleported to Shugabush Island. Shugabush is required for all breeding combinations on its namesake island.

Mandolin (Plant Island):
Voice actor: Kristian Bush
Instrument: Mandolin
Shugabush's contribution to Plant Island and Gold Island's songs is playing its mandolin and occasionally vocalizing "yeah, yeah, yeah" if the mood strikes it. Closer to the end of the Plant Island song, Shugabush will sing, "yeah, yeah, yeah" with a much louder voice.
On Shugabush Island, Shugabush does not vocalize, leaving that role to Shugavox instead.
In the Memory Game, Shugabush only vocalizes "yeah, yeah, yeah".
Breeding
On Plant Island, Shugabush can be obtained by breeding Bowgart and Clamble. Note that it's not a 100% success rate, so multiple breeding attempts may be required. The chances can also be improved with Wishing Torches and/or during Special Breeding Events.
The breeding combination on Plant Island was initially shared by Kristian Bush on his website.[1]
On Shugabush Island, there is not a specific combination to breed a Shugabush, so it instead needs to be teleported from Plant Island once it reaches level 15 or purchased in Shugabush Island's Market for Diamonds. Once a Shugabush is obtained, another Shugabush may be bred as a result of breeding failure while trying to breed a pre-existing Shugafam member. Examples of this are:
- + Shugabush and Mammott
- + Shugabush and Potbelly
- + Shugabush and Oaktopus
- + Shugabush and Furcorn
- + Shugabush and Quibble
- + Shugabush and PomPom
- + Shugabush and Deedge
Out of these, Shugabush + Mammott is the best combination for a failure, as it has the lowest average waiting time in case of not resulting in another Shugabush or the Shugafam member specific to this combination.
The Rare variant of any breeding Monster can be used instead of the Common variant.
Likes
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Shugabush:
- Furcorn (requires level 9)
- Babayag Tower (level 15) ()
- Tree Hut (level 17)
- Bottomless Pit (level 18)
- Razzli Tree (level 12) ()

Notes
- Shugabush’s name is a portmanteau of the band "Sugarland" and its vocalist’s surname, "Kristian Bush". Also, a "sugar bush" is a stand of sugar maple trees, which are tapped for sap to make maple syrup and/or maple sugar, and thus gives a reason why, in some languages, the Monster is translated as "Sweet bush".
- The reason Kristian Bush collaborated with My Singing Monsters was because he became a fan of the game after watching his son play. Bush got in touch with the developers to collaborate on a new Monster and provided both the vocals and mandolin parts for Shugabush. It is unknown if he is still a fan of My Singing Monsters.
- With the 2013 Anniversary update, Shugabush can now be fed up to level 15, instead of up to Level 10. As of Oct 3, 2013, Shugabush on Plant Island can be placed on Gold Island once it reaches level 15. Previously, attempting to do so displayed the following message: "This Legendary monster can't be placed on Gold Island, because of conflicts in dimensional magic. It's pretty sophisticated stuff." A news update from BBB declared, "The Conflicts in dimensional magic have been resolved! You can now place a Level 15 Shugabush on Gold Island." However, a Shugabush living on Shugabush Island still can't be placed on Gold Island, regardless of its level.
- Shugabush has the highest rate of income per bed in the game, excluding any Seasonal Monsters and the Dipsters.
- Shugabush was the first Monster based off of a real person, being released 1,324 days before the first Werdos.
- Shugabush is now the host of a whole new family of Monsters, complete with a namesake Island, Shugabush Island. This information was discovered via an in-game loading screen tip.
- One of the default names for Shugabush is "Pilgrim". This is because Kristian Bush started his career in an American folk rock duo called "Billy Pilgrim". Later, Bush joined the band "Sugarland" in 2002.
- A Shugabush and one Natural Monster are needed for breeding any other Monster on Shugabush Island.
- Shugabush is the first of three Monsters in the game to resemble a real person, the second being G'joob (who resembles Wilford Brimley), and the third being Loodvigg (who resembles Ludwig van Beethoven).
- Shugabush's description says "Its penchant for sweet treats is legendary", referencing the band Sugarland; Shugabush is based off of the band's lead singer.
- Shugabush was the first Monster to like a Path, Inverdigus Sprig, until all Paths were removed from lists of Monster likes on August 29, 2024.
- Shugabush and Shugabuzz both start with the same seven letters, which is the most in the game.
- Shugabush is the only Monster on Gold Island without a Rare or Epic counterpart.
- It and the rest of the Shugafam seemingly will not get any Rare or Epic variants any time soon due to copyright issues.
- Shugabush is one of the few instrumental Monsters that does not use a VST, because it used a live instrument instead, as the creator and voice of the Monster, Kristian Bush, brought his mandolin to the studio.
- Shugabush's mandolin has an incorrect number of tuning pegs. It should have eight instead of four.
- Shugabush is the only member of the Shugafam who is on more than one Island, with it being on two more (Plant Island and Gold Island).
- Shugabush on Shugabush Island has a similar role to Cataliszt on Mythical Island when it comes to the breeding structure. This is due to the fact that they are both required to breed on their respective islands.
