Ethereal elements are just as ancient as their Natural equivalents, but took a proverbial 'back seat' when the time came to select building blocks for the prehistoric Continent. Here in the Mirror timeline, the ColossalZarroë has capitalized on the chance to rewrite the rules and give the Ethereal Elements their due. Each Islet is manifested in a separate way; in the case of Shadow Islet, Zarroë began by breaking through the membrane but stopped short of punching all the way through to the Mirror timeline. Making a 'pit stop', it allowed dark matter from the Rift, the world between worlds to coalesce upon its hand projection. When enough material had accumulated, the hand was ready to emerge at its final destination near Mirror Cold Island. However, instead of simply transforming into the Islet itself, Zarroë's hand cast a shadow upon the snowstorms below, and the dark matter falling from it condensed into the shifting miasma that we know[sic] recognize as Shadow's domain. Here, Pentumbra's originality is put to the test, as it enthusiastically participates in the Dish-Harmonization process to produce the family of Shadow Elementals and the Cold Primordial, all of which will perform the Islet's captivantingly[sic] eerie nocturne!
Shadow Islet's song plays at a speed of 130 beats per minute (260 in double time) and plays in the key of B minor.
Shadow Islet's ambience sounds like wind blowing.

Indigenous Monsters[]
The Monsters of Shadow Islet include all Ethereals of the Shadow Element () (aside from non-Pentumbra Quads and BeMeebEth), alongside Fandhul, the Primordial of the Cold Element (). The list of indigenous Monsters is below with each Monster's class indicated in parenthesis.
Removing the rocks and trees from the Island earns the player Experience () and it opens up space to place more Monsters. Currently, it is not possible to buy back removed Obstacles, but this may change in the future. In total, it costs 2,700,000 Shards () to remove all obstacles from the Island.
Shards are a crucial resource, necessary for leveling up Tribal Island.
While the song of the Islet is crucial, users may also want to use some of these numbers to help with planning which Monsters to feed first and make 100% happy first, as well as plan frequency of shard collection. The numbers below are as follows:
Rate
Rate of income (per hour) at level 15 and at 100% happy
Max
Maximum income at level 15
Time
Time to maximum income at level 15 and at 100% happy (shown as Hours : Minutes : Seconds)
It should be noted that Rate is halved and Time is doubled for 0% happiness.
Just like with Amber Island and the other Ethereal Islets, Monsters on Shadow Islet like only Monsters instead of Decorations. Fandhul acts similarly to the Unity Tree, letting all Common Monsters like each other from anywhere on the Islet.
As confirmed by both the Monster-Handlers[2] and the in-game Islet Guide (Page 10), Shadow Islet will be getting Epic Ethereals. Epic Primordials have also been hinted at, but are not yet outright confirmed.
It was also teased in a couple of different Cyber Week promotions in Dawn of Fire, which featured Fandhul being highlighted in a variety of Diamond sales.
Shadow Islet is the only island where Dish-Harmonizer has a percussion sound which is a kick drum.
Shadow Islet's design appears to be based on a Hamsa (or Khamsa) because of the eye in the center and another thumb instead of the pinky finger.
This may be a visual allusion to how it is the middle Ethereal Islet to be released (the third of 5), being neither a left nor right hand and putting focus on the central palm rather than the fingers. It may also be an ironic allusion to the Hamsa's usage in warding off dark spirits.
Shadow Islet is the first Ethereal Islet to be in a key other than D# Minor/Eb Major.
Shadow Islet is the first island in the game to include a tempo change, slowing down around the 0:40 second mark.
Shadow Islet is the first Ethereal Islet that allows monsters to be placed directly in the palm of hand.
The sinews between the finger joints and the eye marking engraved in the center of the island periodically glow blue.
Shadow Islet's critters appear to be based off shadow puppets of a dog, duck and rooster.
Shadow Islet's song is inspired by the soundtrack to the game The Neverhood, as confirmed in MSM Live.
Shadow Islet is the first and currently the only Island to have a subtle volume change of the same monster tracks, the most noticeable one is Blarret; its third track is much quieter when Nitebear plays.
Shadow Islet marked with Coins instead of Shards
Shadow Islet's currency was originally mistakenly marked with the Coins Icon instead of Shards on the map.
This did not affect the currency produced by any Monsters and they still produced Shards like normal.
This was fixed on December 17th, 2025.
Whereas Plasma and Mech Islet have two Monsters with only one track, Shadow Islet has four, being Grumpyre, Kazilleon, Yooreek, and Nitebear.
