Shadow is an Ethereal element in My Singing Monsters that is manifested by the Grumpyre and on Cold Island as well as Ethereal Island. It is unlocked at level 9.
Shadow Element Monsters are based upon scary or darkness-dwelling things, such as bats and ghosts.

Appearance
The Shadow Element takes the appearance of a black ghost with red eyes and a large gaping mouth. It is centered inside its unique black and red circle.
