Seasonal Sale

Seasonal Monsters are limited time Monsters that are exclusive to Seasonal Events observed throughout the year. They are available during a short window of time for purchase and/or breeding, making them some of the more elusive Monsters found in the game. However, all Seasonals are available for breeding and buying on Seasonal Shanty all-year-round. Seasonals become available during their specific Seasonal Event. For example, the Yool becomes available during the Christmas Season, known as the Fesival of Yay. On the Natural Islands, it is also possibe to obtain Seasonals via the Scratch Ticket. It is possible to acquire these Monsters during "Out of Season" promotions, which happen six months after the Seasonal event takes place, during Anniversary Month, or during other special times. The way they work is similar to the Celestials in Dawn of Fire (excluding the Cosmic Cubes, of course); each Seasonal having its own Season when it is available. Seasonals that are obtained will stay on your Island unless they are teleported or sold.

Seasonal monsters can only be bred with other seasonal monsters on Seasonal Shanty, but they cannot breed on any other Islands, including with their Rare counterparts. They don't appear in the lists of monsters that can be used in the Breeding Structure on any Island except Seasonal Shanty. Seasonal Monsters can be teleported at any time, regardless of their availability.

Seasonals are really difficult to breed. It's recommended that you use the Enhanced Breeding Structure to breed these types of Monsters. Each Seasonal has a specific breeding combination, but they can only be bred during certain times, or at any time on Seasonal Shanty. If Rare Seasonals are available, you can use the Common combination to get them, but it is not certain that you will get a Rare Seasonal as a result. Epic Seasonals have a combination different than their Common and Rare cousins. It is often easy to tell when a Seasonal Event is happening, because the Island that the event takes place on will be decorated with festivities.

There are 2 types of Seasonals, which play an important role to how breeding works on the Seasonal Shanty:

Core Seasonals Spooktacle Element.pngYay Element.pngLove Element.pngEggy Element.pngSummer Element.png
Punkleton Portrait.pngYool Portrait.pngSchmoochle Portrait.pngBlabbit Portrait.pngHoola Portrait.png

The Core Seasonals consists of Seasonals available on the Natural Islands. A specific combination of 2 Core Seasonals can be used to get an Aux. Seasonal, while any combination of 2 Aux. Seasonals can result in any of the 5 Core Seasonals. The Core Seasonals can also go to Gold Island or be teleported to The Colossingum. (Note: Core Seasonals can only be placed on Gold Island if they are on a Natural or Mirror Island. Core Seasonals on Seasonal Shanty cannot be placed, even if they are level 15.)

The Aux. Seasonals consists of Seasonals that are available in the Fire Islands or that are exclusive to the Seasonal Shanty. A combination of 2 Aux. Seasonals can be used to get any of the 5 Core Seasonals, while a specific combination of 2 Core Seasonals can result in an Aux. Seasonal. These Monsters cannot go to Gold Island or The Colossingum.

It is confirmed that the Seasonals will work like the Ethereal Monsters, where the five core seasonals can breed in order to produce an Aux. Seasonal. That means that there are going to be 10 Aux. Seasonals (including the ones we already have)

The song for Seasonal Shanty is already developed, meaning that the Monster Handlers have already developed the songs for the rest of the Aux. Seasonals.

The 14 Seasonal Events, or Seasons, are as follows:

Each Seasonal has their own special Element.

List of Seasonal Monsters

Each of the Seasonal Monsters are obtained by breeding two specific monsters together, any time of the year on Seasonal Shanty but only during the designated period of time on the Natural Islands. The exact dates are different from year to year, but during a particular season, the monster's island will be decorated differently when the opportunity to breed these monsters is possible. During Daily Deals, the monster's island does not look any different so attention to the News will be necessary. The chances of breeding these monsters are very low.

Feeding Monsters

Each monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the monster's level increases the coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum coins earned.

Future Seasonal Monsters

During the December 2021 Handler Hangout, it was implied by Monster Handler Matt that Seasonal Shanty might work similar to Ethereal Island, with 5 single-element Monsters forming the basis for the rest. If so, that would result in a total of 15 Seasonal Monsters; the 5 Core Seasonals, and 10 others. Currently 1 Seasonal is yet to come.

Notes

  • All Core Seasonal Monsters have vocal parts.
  • All Core Seasonal Monsters have Rare and Epic forms, just like Natural Monsters.
  • Seasonal Monsters were referred to as both Limited Time Monsters and Special Edition Monsters in the past.
  • Rarely, sometimes during Anniversary Month, all Seasonal Monsters are made available at once. (In 2017, all Rare Seasonal Monsters were also released. In 2019, all Epic Seasonals other than Epic Punkleton were released too.)
  • Anniversary Month was the only seasonal event without a seasonal monster until the release of Seasonal Shanty and Jam Boree.
  • Jam Boree, Clavavera, Carillong, Ffidyll, Viveine, Spurrit, Monculus, & Whiz-bang do not have their breeding mechanics mentioned in their bio, this might be due to them currently being exclusive to the Seasonal Shanty.
  • Punkleton, Yool, Schmoochle, Blabbit, and Hoola are considered the "Core Seasonals" per a Black Friday in-game promotion in 2021.
  • Occasionally, Seasonal Monsters are re-released "out of season" for very short periods of time, with a purchase price up 75Diamond25px.png from the usual 150Diamond25px.png, to 225Diamond25px.png. For details, refer to the individual Seasonal Monsters information. This is true only for mobile app players. PC players have never had those opportunities.

The News pop-up on June 25th, 2016, showing Yool with its element beside it.

    • In 2014, costs of Seasonal Monsters except for those of the Hoola and Yool went up 75Diamond25px.png from 150Diamond25px.png to 225Diamond25px.png.
    • During the Seasonal Event in September 2014, costs of all Seasonal Monsters were 150Diamond25px.png.
  • Seasonal Monsters didn't have an element until a news pop-up on June 25th, 2016 for the re-release of the Yool on the same date. Each one became a single element monster. These elements were added in-game in an update.
    • It revealed that the monsters' elements are:
      • The Carved Pumpkin is for the Punkleton.
      • The Christmas Tree is for the Yool.
      • The Heart is for the Schmoochle.
      • The Easter Egg is for the Blabbit.
      • The Hot Summer Sun is for the Hoola.
        • The Cornucopia is for the Gobbleygourd.
        • The Skull is for the Clavavera.
        • The Party Hat (With confetti in the background) is for the Jam Boree.
        • The Hourglass is for the Carillong.
        • The Rainbow Fireworks is for the Whiz-bang.
        • The Glowing Handprint is for the Monculus.
        • The Four Leaf Clover is for the Ffidyll.
        • The Flower-Covered Tree is for the Viveine.
        • The Pith Helmet is for the Spurrit.
  • As the teaser for Composer's 1.3 update, "Seasonals' Greetings!", featured an unknown percussion monster that had been heard in the teaser itself, and all except one Seasonal has already been released, the 15th and last Seasonal may be the drums everyone has been wanting it to be on Seasonal Shanty.
    • The percussion was edited out of the YouTube upload for the trailer. This might be because it spoiled a new monster to come in a later Seasonal Shanty update.
  • During MSM Live episode of June 2022, the non-Core Seasonals were officially named the "Aux. Seasonals", or Auxiliary Seasonals.
