My Singing Monsters Wiki

What does the all-seeing Rare Stogg perceive with those glorious peepers, you may ask? A shining symphony of sound waves and light, more beautiful than anything its Common cousins could imagine. In an effort to share its experience, Rare Stoggs have taken to creating abstract illustrations using bioluminescent paints.

Description[]

Rare Stogg is a Double-Element Rare Fire Monster and was the first Rare Fire Monster to be added. It was added on May 24th, 2019, during version 2.2.9. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. When available, it is best obtained by breeding Noggin and Kayna, or by purchasing from the StarShop. By default, its breeding time is 13 hours and 30 minutes long. Although a Rare Monster, Rare Stogg does not have high Coin production.

On Amber Island, Rare Stogg can only be obtained by successfully evolving a Common Stogg that is at least level 4 via the Crucible. Its successful evolution time is 13 hours and 30 minutes long.

Breeding[]

Rare Stogg can be bred the same way as a Common Stogg. The combination is:

+ Kayna Portrait

Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Stogg may fail, and give a Rare Stogg as a result instead of the Common Stogg. This includes all of the breeding combinations that can't ever work in the usual way. In particular:

(Good choice, very small chance of Pladdie/Plinkajou, can result in Epic Mammott/Epic Toe Jammer if available.)

(Best choice, if Noggin eggs can be safely disposed of to Nursery, Wublin, Celestial or Vessel)

Note: Avoid using Stogg and Tring on Fire Haven, due to being the breeding combo for Epic Kayna, which has a higher chance of a Tring.

The Rare version of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Stogg and a Common Stogg together. The outcome will always be a Stogg and if a Rare Stogg is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Stogg, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All Monsters with a specific element.
  • All Monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Seasonal Events.

The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 unique Monsters on Amber Island).

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Stogg:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Note: Rare Stogg only likes Flum Ox on Amber Island, and not on Bone Island. Also, on Amber Island, all of Rare Stogg's likes are only obtainable for a limited time. Amber Vessels must be revitalized before they count towards Rare Stogg's happiness.

Statistics[]

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Relics per month (28 days) and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.

Note: Relic rates below level 4 are not possible in-game.

Egg Consumption[]

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Stogg eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Stogg eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Stogg is not required for the Celestial to ascend.

Notes[]

  • Rare Stogg was teased on Twitter on May 23rd, 2019.
  • Monster-Handler Matt speculated in MSM Live #29 that the Rare Stogg could use their gecko-like feet to climb walls. Real-world Lizards accomplish this feat by use of Van der Waals forces between tiny hairs on their feet and the wall surface.
  • Rare Stogg was the first Rare Monster released since Rare Whisp, making it the first new Rare in over 2 years.
