My Singing Monsters

Found much less frequently than the common Riff, this Rare Monster nonetheless offers great insights into the habits and behaviours of this secretive species. For instance, it's now known that all Riffs share a symbiotic relationship with their guitars, which are actually living creatures as well! Riffs exchange the foods they collect with their toes for whispered messages of affirmation about their musical performances. Go team.
Monster Bio

Description

Rare Riff is a quad-element Rare Monster. It was added on May 8th, 2015 during Version 1.3.3. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is best obtained by breeding or by purchasing from the StarShop. Its breeding combination is the same as its common counterpart. By default, its breeding time is 1 day, 6 hours, and 30 minutes long. Rare Riff has a great coin production, which can be useful before getting its Epic form or other Monsters with higher coin production.

Breeding

The Rare Riff can be bred using monsters that combine to provide all the elements Cold, Air, Water and Earth, just like its common counterpart.

The following pairs of 2-element monsters can be used to breed a Riff:

However, the combination of a 3-element with 1-element monster has higher rate of success for getting a Riff instead of one of the parents as the outcome:

Of these, T-Rox and Tweedle is the best combination, as it has the lowest average breeding times in case of breeding failure. Congle and Noggin is in close second.

There is also a small chance of producing a Riff or Rare Riff from a failed breeding attempt, using an Riff and a non-Single Element Monsters.

The Rare version of any monster can be used for breeding instead of the common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Riff and a regular Riff together.  The outcome will always be a Riff, and if a Rare Riff is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Availability

For a list of when this monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Riff, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters are only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All monsters with a specific element
  • All monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.

Likes

Every monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the monster, the monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a monster will still only increase its happiness by 25%. If there's a Unity Tree on the island, items don't need to be near the monsters. Below are the things liked by Rare Riff:
