Long ago, when Phanglers were too fearful to venture to the surface of the living ocean, a small school would gaze longingly up at the glimmering sunset each evening as it sparkled on the waves. These Phanglers yearned for the warm embrace of sunshine on their scales so dearly that they grew hand-like fins to reach up to the sun itself! These sunkissed sea creatures became known as Rare Phanglers and today can be distinguished by their warm hue and lanky arms.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Rare Phangler is a Double-Element Rare Fire Monster that is first unlocked on either Fire Oasis, Psychic Island, or Bone Island. It was added on August 9th, 2019 during Version 2.3.0. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. When available, it is best obtained by breeding Toe Jammer and Kayna, or by purchasing from the StarShop. By default, its breeding time is 13 hours and 30 minutes long. Although a Rare Monster, Rare Phangler still does not have high Coin production.

On Amber Island, Rare Phangler can only be obtained by successfully evolving a Common Phangler that is at least level 4 via the Crucible. Its successful evolution time is 13 hours and 30 minutes long.

Breeding[]

Rare Phangler can be bred the same way as a Common Phangler. The combination is:

Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Phangler may fail, and give a Rare Phangler as a result instead of the Common Phangler. This includes all of the breeding combinations that can't ever work in the usual way. In particular:

Note: avoid using Phangler and Sneyser on Fire Oasis due to a higher chance of a Sneyser.

The Rare version of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Phangler and a Common Phangler together. The outcome will always be a Phangler and if a Rare Phangler is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Phangler, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All Monsters with a specific element.
  • All Monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.

The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 Monsters on Amber Island).

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Phangler:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Note: Rare Phangler only likes Edamimi on Amber Island, and not on Psychic Island. Also, on Amber Island, all of Rare Phangler's likes are only obtainable for a limited time. Amber Vessels must be revitalized before they count towards Rare Phangler's happiness.

Egg Consumption[]

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Phangler eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Phangler eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Phangler is not required for the Celestial to ascend.

Notes[]

  • Rare Phangler was teased in the Loading Screen for SummerSong 2019.
  • Rare Phangler was the first Rare Monster to be released on Fire Oasis and Psychic Island.
    • Ironically, Epic Phangler will be the last Epic Fire Monster to release on Fire Oasis.
    • It was also the only Rare Monster to premiere on Fire Frontier. All Rares from Rare Flowah onward premiered after Fire Frontier was changed to Psychic Island.
    • It was also one of the first two Rare Monsters to be on Bone Island, since Rare Stogg was added to Bone Island alongside Rare Phangler.
  • Rare Phangler appears to have a glitched idle animation, as its second hop is delayed and cut off before it starts again.
  • Just like Rare Stogg, Rare Phangler's initial release did not come with a release of all other non-Fire Rare Monsters.
  • There was a glitch that was occurring after the release of Fire Frontier, where Rare Phangler could be bred and incubated, but it could not be placed or sold on Fire Frontier. This was fixed a day later.
  • Rare Phangler was the last Rare Monster to feature a non-unique egg sprite. After September 25th, 2019, all Rares and Epics had entirely new egg sprites.
  • When Rare Phangler was released on Bone Island, its singing animation had blue eyelids instead of brown eyelids, however, in update 2.4.1, this was fixed.
