My Singing Monsters Wiki

When comparing the Rare Maw to its pink Common cousin, it's tempting to classify this maroon ball of fur as... well, not a Maw at all. Sprouting spindly horns, a matted goatee and, of course, beady little eyes, this ain't your mama's Maw. It fancies itself a master hunter, tickling its quarry into submission with its horns. No one has plucked up the courage to tell the Rare Maw that Cupcakes can't run away anyhow. Please don't spoil its fun.

Breeding[]

Rare Maw has the same breeding combination as its Common variant:

Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Maw may fail, and give a Rare Maw as a result instead of the Common Maw. This includes all of the breeding combinations that can't ever work in the usual way.

The Rare version of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Maw and a Common Maw together. The outcome will always be a Maw and if a Rare Maw is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Maw, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All Monsters with a specific element.
  • All Monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Seasonal Events.

The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 unique Monsters on Amber Island).

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Maw:

Egg Consumption[]

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Rare Wublins and Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Maw eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Rare Wublins and Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Maw eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Rare Wublins have no time limit, and their egg inventories cannot be reset. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Maw is not required for the Celestial to ascend.
