My Singing Monsters Wiki

Very few have actually witnessed it, but it's said that the Rare Dragong has limited flight capabilities! The coloration of its plates is actually owing to the fact that they are hot to the touch. Then, it simply heats the air below it, and surfs around on the updraft. Finally, the rest of its body maintains a frigid temperature to avoid overheating. The ingenuity of Rarethereals never ceases to amaze.

Description[]

Rare Dragong is a Double-Element Rarethereal Monster exclusive to Ethereal Island. It was added on July 8th, 2016 during Version 1.4.2. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is bred using the same combination as its Common variant, being Reebro and Humbug. By default, its breeding time is 2 days and 5 hours long. As a Rare Double-Element Ethereal, Rare Dragong has a decent Shard production, although Single-Element Ethereals are recommended.

See Dragong.

Breeding[]

Rare Dragong can be bred the same way as a Common Dragong. The combination is:

Reebro
+
Humbug

Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Dragong may fail, and give a Rare Dragong as a result instead of the Common Dragong. This includes all of the breeding combinations that cannot ever work in the usual way. In particular:

Dragong
+
Ghazt

Dragong
+
Grumpyre

Dragong
+
Reebro

Dragong
+
Jeeode

Dragong
+
Humbug

(Good choice, if Single-Element Ethereal eggs can be safely disposed of to Nursery)

The Rare variants of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common variant. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Dragong and a Common Dragong together. The outcome will always be a Dragong and if a Rare Dragong is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Dragong, like all Rarethereals, is only available for breeding, buying, Tuning Up, or Dish-Harmonizing some of the time during special events, typically during the weekend. Examples:

  • All 5 Singles
  • All of them (Anniversary Month only)

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Dragong:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Note: Rare Dragong has an Unreleased Like on Mech Islet. Also, all of Rare Dragong's likes on the Ethereal Islets (except Dragong) are only obtainable for a limited time, and it may not be possible to get Rare Dragong to 100% happiness.

Notes[]

  • According to Rarethereal Research, it has no tongue for panting, so it uses its head and back sails to prevent overheating. This is also supported by it not having a tongue in its Fan Kit image.
    • However, this is contradicted by its idle animation, as it shows a tongue flicking out occasionally.
    • Due to its limited flight capabilities, it is most likely based on Flying Snakes.
  • In Mech Islet, Rare Dragong's eyelids are incorrectly colored, having the same colors as it's common form.
