“ | As a rule, Bonkers are typically drawn to the trunks of deciduous trees and install themselves nearby to begin their trademark bonking. One subspecies known for its shaggy coat is more prone to seek out desertic plant life, like the twisted stalks of the Dry Patch in the Thumpieverse. Because of the harsh conditions they're accustomed to, these stalks can even flourish in outer spatial ecosystems! The Rare Magical megadriles are spotted even less frequently than their Common cousins, and if it weren't for the familiar sound of their beating heads drawing your attention, you'd scarcely know they existed at all. | ” |

Description[]
Rare Bonkers is a Double-Element Rare Magical Monster. It was added alongside Rare Tuskski and Epic Ffidyll on March 13th, 2024 during version 4.1.4. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is best obtained by breeding, in which the combination is the same as its Common variant. By default, its breeding time is 12 hours and 30 minutes long. Although a Rare Monster, Rare Bonkers still does not have high Coin production.
On Magical Nexus, Rare Bonkers is obtained by Transposing by spending 10 once fed to level 18. Its Transposing time is 1 day, 6 hours, 30 minutes long. Unlike Psychic Island, Rare Bonkers does not produce currency on Magical Nexus.
Song[]
- See Bonkers.
Breeding[]
Rare Bonkers can be bred the same way as a Common Bonkers. The combination is:
Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Bonkers may fail, and give a Rare Bonkers as a result instead of the Common Bonkers. This includes all of the breeding combinations that cannot ever work in the usual way. In particular:
+
Bonkers
and Gloptic
- (Best choice, slight chance of getting a Gloptic, may result in an Epic Boo'qwurm if available.)
+
Bonkers
and Toe Jammer
The Rare variants of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common variant. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Bonkers and a Common Bonkers together. The outcome will always be a Bonkers and if a Rare Bonkers is available at that time, it may result from this combination.
Availability[]
- For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability
Rare Bonkers, like all Rare Magicals are only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events.
Likes[]
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Bonkers:

Bingo Bango Bongos
(level 7)

Smunkit
(level 11)

Cave Crystal Teleporter
(level 10)

Statistics[]
Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]
Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

More info can be found in the Feeding article.
Egg Consumption[]
- Main article: Zapping
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Bonkers eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Bonkers eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Bonkers is not required for the Celestial to ascend.

Notes[]
- At the end of this video by Josh Harmon, there is a new track and animation for Rare Bonkers. This was revealed to be a teaser for Magical Nexus.
- As a coincidence, Josh Harmon also teased Gaddzooks for Ethereal Workshop.
- Rare Bonkers was the last Rare Magical to be released before the release of Magical Nexus.
- Rare Bonkers released one week after the release of My Singing Monsters Thumpies. The Thumpiesverse is the home dimension of the Bonkers species. Thus, Rare Bonkers has many ties to the game.
- In particular, Rare Bonkers uses one of the green stalks found in later levels of the game as its "drum".
- In the Cloverspell 2024 trailer, Rare Bonkers was first revealed in the Thumpiesverse, where it was hiding from Monster Handler Tyson by blending in with the background (which ties into the Monster's bio).
