My Singing Monsters

The first stage of the Quarrister's life cycle begins deep underground. Each head is a separate creature, feeding on crystals and fending for themselves. Eventually, groups of heads band together and harmonize their efforts until they physically fuse together. Every once in a while, one of the Quarrister's voices will go for a solo, but that kind of behavior is usually seen as big-headed.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Quarrister is a Quad-Element Monster that can be found on Earth Island. It was added on November 27th, 2012 during Version 1.1.0. It is best obtained by breeding Thumpies and Noggin. By default, its breeding time is 24 hours long. Quarrister has a decent Coin production, and can be useful for beginners before getting Monsters with higher Coin production.

Song[]

Audio samples:

Gregorian (Memory Game; Earth and Gold Island):

Barbershop-esque (Tribal Island):

Voice actors: Various (Tribal Island only)

All of Quarrister's heads harmonize together, with "ahhs" and "ohs" with Mammott, Potbelly, and Reedling. Some of the flat heads start and stop singing at different times, causing the frequency of their sound to change. Together, they produce a Gregorian Chant.

On Tribal Island, the monster sings with Cybop, making a similar singing timbre as Mammott, instead of singing "ahh"s. It now sings similarly to Cybop's song: "Shum bum ba-daedle-um bum, Belum bum ba-daedle-bum, Belum bum, Ba-daedle-um Bubbloodlay!"

VSTs[]

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

Sampling pack: Spectrasonics Symphony of Voices
Path: Disc 1 > Partition A > CHOIR AHS
Program: LC AHS-V A

Breeding[]

Quarrister can be bred using Monsters that combine to provide all the elements Plant, Cold, Air and Earth without repeating any.

The following pairs of Double-Element Monsters can be used to breed a Quarrister:

However, the combination of a Triple-Element with a Single-Element Monster has a higher rate of success:

Of these, Thumpies+Noggin is the best combination, as failing and breeding a Noggin lets you retry the combo almost instantly.

There is also a small chance of producing a Quarrister from a failed breeding attempt, using a Quarrister and a Double Element Monster.

The Rare version of any monster can be used for breeding instead of the common version.

(Best choice, 100% chance of a Quarrister if Rare Quarrister is unavailable)

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Quarrister:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Quarrister or when Quarrister and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Quarrister's likes as well:

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Feeding Monsters[]

Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

Egg Consumption[]

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels can be used to "dispose of" Quarrister eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Quarrister eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Kayna's Vessel has no time limit, and its egg inventory cannot be reset. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month.

Notes[]

  • Quarrister's name is a combination of "quarry," where rocks are mined, and "chorister," a singer in a chorus.
  • Quarrister is the monster with the second most heads. The most is its Rare.
  • Since Quarrister is the Quad-Element Monster on Earth Island, the final Natural Island, it is usually the final Common Natural Monster that is unlocked in the game, and the final new Common Natural Monster that players breed and place, if they try to get every monster in order. However, this monster might not be the last, as Big Blue Bubble confirmed that a Natural Quint is coming, with the Natural Quint in question possibly being Mimic. (The latter of which released in Dawn of Fire)
  • The largest head of Quarrister has features that the other five do not have, such as eyebrows, a uvula, a beard, and a golden tooth.
  • If the player listens closely, they can hear a much deeper voice along with the higher notes, but only on Earth Island.
  • Quarristers, so far, only move their toes on Tribal Island, when they dance during their song.
  • According to its animation on Earth Island, the Quarrister head on the top right sings two longer notes in track one of the song.
  • Despite Quarrister's bio stating that, at the first stage of its life cycle, its heads are separate creatures, after hatching, it is fully fused.
  • There is an early concept of an Earth Island's Quad-Element Monster known as Floot Fly, but it was scrapped before Quarrister was made. It would have had the elements currently used by Quarrister. It is a red/orange monster with big yellow eyes and a flute-like tube serving as a mouth. There are also 2 ears and a spike on its head, and 2-4 limbs visible. It has 3 fingers on each hand and seems to play its nose/mouth with them, like a flute. Not much else is known about it. The monster was later re-adapted into the Single-Element Faerie Monster that we know and love today, and it's still known as Floot Fly.
  • Quarrister and Floot Fly have the same three Decorations as Likes: the Tree Hut, the Bass String Bridge, and the Zuffle Tree.
    • This refers to the fact that Floot Fly's design is based on the scrapped design of the Earth Island Quad before it became Quarrister when Dave Kerr found a choir VST he really liked.
    • One of Floot Fly's default names is "Fauxrrister", which is a reference to this scrapped role.
  • Quarrister was originally going to be playable in My Singing Monsters Playground, but it was ultimately scrapped.
    • However, it did appear as a statue in the game.
  • Surprisingly, Quarrister uses a VST instead of multiple VAs on Earth Island. It isn't known as to why this is the case.
  • The Boss Monument decoration shows the back of Quarrister, with it having hair on its back.
  • Being the Quad-Elemental of Earth Island, Quarrister represents the Earth Element most prominently in its appearance.
  • Quarrister is one of the few Quad-Element Monsters that sings instead of playing an instrument.
