| “ | Aquatic Pummels are gill-breathers. They soak themselves regularly to suck in a fresh load of water and seal their mouths with Plant membranes. Like Noggins, Pummels are closely in tune with the Earth. | ” |

Strategy[]
Pummels have no strong moves against the following monsters and their derivatives until a certain level:
- Level 10+: Shellbeat
- Level 15+: Reedling
- Never: Shrubb
As a monster carrying the Plant, Water, and Earth elements, the base elemental moveset of Pummel covers opponent monsters with the Water, Cold, and Air elements. Pummel itself is weak to Air, Plant, and Cold moves. For these reasons, Pummel without its moveset altered by certain costumes has a strong advantage over Congle one on one, but has a strong disadvantage against Thumpies. Pummel has no costumes that give you Cold (
) moves, thus missing out on dealing strong damage to Noggins
Pummels below level 15 are not good for battling Dandidoos and Reedlings because Pummel although has a musical move unlocked at the beginning, the only elemental moves it has are Water (
) and Plant (
), which are weak against these monsters.
Costume Choices:
- Ol' 1-2 Thump is a direct upgrade of the Musical move.
- Baited Breath replaces Insane Membrane with an Air-element coverage move that deals similar rounds of damage while dealing heavier damage to Plant-element monsters instead of those carrying the Water element, such as Shrubbs, and Dandidoos and Reedlings prior to reaching level 15. When equipped, Pummel attains a coverage spread similar to Scups and only misses strong coverage on Fwog.
Notes[]
- When using "Tonguethumping", Pummel plays the start of the chorus of "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba.
- When using “Ol' 1-2 Thump”, Pummel plays the opening to “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.
- The name of "Insane Mebrane" may be a reference to the Cypress Hill song "Insane in the Brain", which contains the lyric "Insane in the membrane" in its chorus.
- Update 3.2.0 permanently changed the price of many costumes, including Ol' 1-2 Thump, which changed from 30
(discounted) and 45
(full price) to 25
(discounted) and 37
(full price). - Pummel's Rainbow Shark costume may be based on the Rainbow Fish from the children's book of the same name.
- Pummel's Trickster Trappings costume, seems to vaguely reference Betelgeuse, a late 1980's Halloween icon.
