Polarity is a mechanic in My Singing Monsters exclusive to the Wublins and the Rare Wublins which affects their Currency production rates, similar to happiness for most other Monsters. Each Wublin has two magnetic poles that are affected by the awoken Wublins near it. When the positive pole is active, the production time decreases and the amount of Currency produced (excluding Diamonds) is increased by at most 25%. When the negative pole is active, the production time increases and the amount of Currency produced (excluding Diamonds) is decreased by at most 25%. With Rare Wublins, the Common version can be used instead of a Rare and vice-versa for a half-Polarity effect.
List of Polarities[]
This list provides each of the Wublins' positive and negative polarities:
Notes[]
- In real life, polarity is a chemical term referring to when an entity contains two distinct and opposite poles that can either attract or repel each other. In this case, the poles are the two Wublins that repel or attract different Wublins.
- Upon initial release, there seemed to be a bug where Celestial Statues and Vessels had polarities, with Vessels having the first Monster they like for a positive polarity and no known Monster for its negative polarity.
- The Rare Wublins have the same positive and negative polarities as their Common variants (e.g. Whajje's negative and positive polarities are Zynth and Dwumrohl respective, and Rare Whajje's negative and positive polarities are Rare Zynth and Rare Dwumrohl respectively).
- Dwumrohl and Fleechwurm are the only Wublins to be negatively affected by each other, and the only pair on Wublin Island to affect each other at all.
- The Wublins tend to be positively attracted towards monsters of different grid sizes, while their negative poles tend to be Wublins of the same grid sizes, likely to hinder the creation of Wublin farms.
- The only exception to this is Blipsqueak, which has a positive polarity towards Screemu, which also occupies a 2x2 grid space. This is due to there being one more 2x2 sized Wublin than there are of 3x3 Wublins.
- Wubbox, Monculus, and their Rare variants are the only Monsters on Wublin Island to not have any polarities, thus they always produce Currency at the same rate.
- Rare Whajje was the first Rare Wublin to have its polarity chart complete.
- When polarity was first released, the menu showed Wublins that were not obtained as statues. In a later update, this was changed to show a grey picture of the Wublin instead.
