My Singing Monsters Wiki

Among the stars where the Water Mythical is believed to call home is a whole other world of sound. Alongside the main species of spacefaring beings, this corner of the cosmos was shared with a domesticated creature known as the Pinghound. Thanks to the power of dreamcraft, this beast can be drawn from the imagination and realized in physical form in the dreamscape of Mythical Island! Brave, loyal, and slightly territorial, Pinghounds also use a luminous and musical display to communicate. They are the close companions of Water Mythicals, who are delighted to be reunited with simulacra of their erstwhile pets in the Monster World.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Pinghound is a Dreamythical Monster exclusive to Mythical Island. It was added alongside Anglow, Rare Brump, Rare Zynth, Rare Poewk, Rare Thwok, and Rare Dwumrohl on April 5th, 2023 during Version 3.9.0. It is best obtained by breeding Cataliszt and Anglow. By default, its breeding time is 1 day and 18 hours long. Pinghound has a low Coin production rate, but high maximum income compared to other Monsters on Mythical Island. The Goal for placing your first Pinghound rewards the player with 10 Diamonds.

Song[]

Audio:

Instrument: Sonar-like synth

Pinghound's contribution to the song is a synth that sounds like different pitched sonar pings in the first verse. However, the first verse is also the only verse where Pinghound plays.

VSTs[]

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

VST: Serum
Path: Plucks
SoundFont: PL Modern Drop 1 [DRK]

Breeding[]

To breed Pinghound, you need to breed Cataliszt and Anglow. Note that it is not a 100% success rate, but the chances can be increased with Wishing Torches.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Pinghound:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Pinghound or when Pinghound and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Pinghound's likes as well:

Notes[]

  • Pinghound's name comes from ping, the sound it makes, and hound, the animal it is named after, although it resembles more of a mix between a grouper and a bulldog.
  • Like other Dreamythicals, Pinghound's income at level 1 is 10,405 Coins (Coins), which is a reference to its release date.
  • Pinghound's body lights up when it plays, similarly to Pixolotl and Zynth.
  • In MSM Live September 2024, It was revealed that Pinghound, despite being based on a creature from Anglow's home planet, is not an exact replica.
  • Pinghound is the first Double Element Dreamythical to be liked by another Monster.
    • Pinghound is also the only Double Element Dreamythical to play at the beginning of Mythical Island's song. Fittingly, its Mythical counterpart is the only Mythical to play at the beginning of its native Island (Water Island)'s song.
    • It is also the only Mythical Island Monster to never play with any other Dreamythicals. This makes it the only Monster not to play with Sporerow.
