Official Wiki Policy
This article shows information about the official policies of the My Singing Monsters Wiki. Please read this page, as it details how the wiki works, how you can contribute, or what kind of behavior is allowed on the wiki.

This page will refer to three documents enforced by Big Blue Bubble, the Terms of Service, Community Standards, and Fan Content Policy. This following is an unofficial summary, as it relates to contribution to this wiki.

In this wiki, Big Blue Bubble allows the use of their content, only if used with fair use and if the files serve actual purpose in the wiki. Inappropriate content that includes their products, assets and logos will lead to serious consequences. In general, failure to follow these rules can get you blocked.

Game Modifications

Modifying the game with server-side or client-side mods is not permitted. This includes changing sprites or sound files. Promoting hacks that alter game currencies or give free items (such as Monsters) will result in your account being permanently blocked from the wiki and your MSM account will be reported.

Images

Images of the Monsters themselves are permitted, as well as other aspects such as icons, game aspects and game mechanic features. Importantly, these images should not be obtained by accessing game files. Some valid sources are: Big Blue Bubble's provided Fan Kit, screenshots (edited or as-is), promotional materials shared through MSM's official Social Media or website, or when provided by a Monster-Handler.

Spritesheets from the game's files are also not permitted. Fan-made monster image sheets are permitted, if they are completely original or are significantly modified from the originals so as to constitute "derivative works". As a general rule of thumb, if an asset cannot be obtained by taking a screenshot in-game, then it can't be uploaded to the wiki.

Additionally, posting unreleased content taken from a current or former employee's portfolio, does not fall under fair use, and should not be uploaded to the site.

Sound files

Sound files of your own Monster arrangements are permitted.  Big Blue Bubble is okay with people posting recordings made from the game as it is being played. Very short files of a single Monster are permitted for purposes of demonstrating what a monster sounds like, as part of an article - no more than the minimum necessary for that purpose. Again, sound files taken directly from the game's data files are not permitted. We cannot post complete sound files for a Monster, even if they are recorded from the game as it is played.

Related works

There are a number of digital works that Big Blue Bubble has created for the My Singing Monsters universe: recordings, coloring books, and so on. We cannot, and will not, include them here.

Links

Anything which we cannot post here on the wiki, because it would abuse Big Blue Bubble's copyright policies, we also will not permit links to even if the items are actually hosted on other sites.

Fan-made images, sounds, etc.

Fan-made images are permitted in the wiki, but not in mainspace articles (the main articles of the wiki). They are, however, permitted in blogs, userpages and forums. What all fan-made images, sounds and videos of Monsters and anything else around My Singing Monsters must do is meet specific fandom rules made by Big Blue Bubble, and they should be family-friendly to everyone and be non-damaging to Big Blue Bubble. Specifically:

  1. No portrayal of violence
  2. No sexual content
  3. No substance abuse or drugs
  4. No discrimination
  5. Must not damage Big Blue Bubble or its products in any way
  6. Must not show affiliation or association with Big Blue Bubble if they didn't give permission for you to do so
  7. Anything else considered inappropriate to Big Blue Bubble or in general.

Failure to follow these rules can get you blocked.

Please use file names for these fan-made items that won't be easily confused for the "real" things.  Also, be careful not to accidentally replace an existing file with your new one.  (It is permitted to replace a file with a better one.)
