Families of different Monsters are listed here. A Monster family is a family of Monsters that shares a set of design characteristics. These families should be confirmed by the Monster-Handlers, so conclusions made by fans are not grounds for a new family. Most families don’t all belong to the same Class, with the Toodaloos, Shugafam, Werdos and Dipsters being exceptions, although the Shugafam has Viveine as an "unofficial member", according to the My Singing Monsters Live on April 19th, 2023. Below are some of the more notable Monster families.

Families[]
The Pomily[]
The Pomily contains Monsters that look similar to PomPom, including an adopted member, TooToo. They gain their colors by the foods they eat. PomPom and Rare Hoola eat red food, Rare PomPom eats indigo food, Epic PomPom eats all colors of food, Hoola eats a variety of foods, and Rooba eats moss. Armor-Clade[]
The Armor-Clade consists of two Monsters, Repatillo and Strombonin. The official name of this Monster family was first revealed during Episode 1 of Quick Questions with Monster-Handler Tyson. Its existence was first hinted at in Strombonin's bio, which noted similarities between it and Repatillo. The family's name is a portmanteau of the phrase "armor-clad," as all of its members have a shell or armor, and "clade," a taxonomical group of organisms that are descendants of one common ancestor. Despite the use of "clade" in the family name, there is no common ancestor of Repatillo and Strombonin currently known to exist.

Playbackyderms[]
The Playbackyderms consist of three Monsters, Woolabee, Peckidna, and Cherubble, which all share the similarity of using symbiotic partners to make their sounds. Unlike other families, they were created through 'inspirational evolution.' Cherubble was used as inspiration for the Colossals to create Woolabee and for the Stair Shaper to create Peckidna. The name was first mentioned in Cherubble's bio and inspiral evolution was mentioned in Epic Cherubble's bio. The family's name is a portmanteau of "play", "back", "playback", and "pachyderm", a name for a member of the obsolete order Pachydermata, which includes elephants.

The Drone-Sects consist of three Monsters, Humbug, Fung Pray, and Buzzinga, which all share insectoid appearances and dimension traveling abilities. Although, Fung Pray's abilities are unknown. The family's name is a portmanteau of "drone" and "insect", drone referring both to a male bee and to the deep humming sound that Humbug makes.

The Toodaloos[]
The Toodaloos consist of three Monsters, Tweedle, Dandidoo, and Quibble, all of which share a bird-like appearance. The name was revealed during a Handler Hangout. The name likely comes from the now dated British term “toodle-oo”, which means "see you later." The family’s existence was first hinted via Rare Dandidoo’s bio stating a distant relationship with Quibble and Dandidoo’s Composer bio stating a relationship with Tweedle.

Unnamed families[]
Families with Monsters only[]
Some Monsters are confirmed or heavily hinted to be related with each other, either by their bios or official sources, but currently lack an official, proper family name:
Yooreek and Gaddzooks: Yooreek and Gaddzooks are confirmed to be related on each others' bios.
Hyehehe and Plinkajou: Hyehehe and Plinkajou are hinted to be related on this tweet by Ultimate Creator Quinn, the creator of Hyehehe. However, this is technically not an official family until it is confirmed by the Monster-Handlers as well. In order for the Monster-Handlers to confirm that, though, they would need to directly ask Ultimate Creator Quinn.
Flowah and Barrb: The bios of Epic Flowah and Epic Barrb confirm that Flowahs and Barrbs are related to each other.
Mimic and Gobbleygourd: The Perplexplore 2025 trailer implies an evolutionary relation between Gobbleygourd and Mimic.
Families with non-Monster members[]
Some Monsters can also be related to certain Decorations, Critters, or Crafting Items.
Whiz-bang, Glowbes, and Optiglowbe: Whiz-bangs originate from Glowbes, and the Optiglowbe is a subspecies of Glowbe, meaning that they are related to each other. The Optiglowbe is also speculated to be "related in some way to the critters of Psychic Island", but it's uncertain if that's actually the case due to the Optiglowbe's bio making it clear that it's only a speculation.
Punkleton, Smunkin, and the Pumpkin: The kinship between Punkleton and the Smunkins is directly confirmed in the former's bio, and young Punkleton's bio reveals that it originates from a Pumpkin patch that got struck by a lighting bolt, therefore confirming that Punkleton is related to Pumpkins in addition to Smunkins. This makes sense, because Pumpkins are also the ancestors of Smunkins, as noticed in the Oversized Pies' bio.
Clamble and Simbull Tree: The Simbull Tree is, according to its bio, "a different branch" of the Clamble's family tree.
Riff and Ockulo Tree: Ockulo Trees are made from the feathers of Riffs, possibly meaning that they are genetically related to each other.
Quarrister and Barrockade: Barrockade's bio starts saying that it is "Distantly related to Quarristers", leaving no doubts about their kinship.
Debunked families[]
The following Monsters are confirmed to not be related, despite any noted similarities between them:
Toe Jammer and Frondley: It was confirmed on the February 2023 livestream that Frondley and Toe Jammer are unrelated to each other, despite their similar appearances.
Wimmzies and the Pomily: During MSM Live #60, Monster-Handler Matt confirmed that any perceived resemblance between the Wimmzies and the Pomily is coincidental.
Phangler and Anglow: In Quick Questions Episode 6, it was confirmed that Phangler and Anglow are not related.
