| “ | Back when the Monster World was new, the Colossals pioneered a special process called Life-Formula: the imbuement of vitalizing energies into sculptures of fantastical creatures, plucked right from the giant spirits' imaginations. In this way would the nascent reality be populated, and the Monculus was among the very first prototype Singing Monsters awakened by the so-called 'spark of life.' Fashioned from Bubblerite, the versatile building material favored most by the Colossals, its moving parts are manipulated by the rare plasmic form of Krystillium, the first-ever Crystal to be created. Initially pocket-sized, it can grow to imposing heights to sputter out its hauntingly beautiful refrain. | ” |

| “ | This dilapidated Statue only appears at certain times of the year, when the potent Electricity of the great storm that surrounds Wublin Island reaches unstable levels and breaches interdimensional gateways. Now all that's missing is the spark of life! Instead of sending them to the Nursery, Zap the Monster eggs you've bred on your other islands, and they'll transform into the Electrical energy required to wake up this Monster. | ” |

Description[]
Monculus is a Seasonal Monster that celebrates the Life-Formula season and is found on Ethereal Island, Wublin Island, and Seasonal Shanty. It was added on June 1st, 2022, during version 3.5.0. As a Seasonal Monster, Monculus is only available at certain times. On Ethereal Island, it is best obtained by breeding Nebulob and Jeeode. By default, its breeding time is 20 hours and 4 minutes long. Monculus has a high Shard production compared to other Monsters on Ethereal Island.
On Wublin Island, Monculus is obtained by being purchased in the Market for 225,000 Coins (
) as its inactive form, which can be activated by zapping all required Monster Eggs into it. Similarly to Vessels, its inactive form can only be purchased for a limited time, but it will remain on the Island forever after it's been purchased. It has a low currency production compared to the Wublins, but it is not affected by Polarity.
Monculus can either be teleported from Ethereal Island to Seasonal Shanty once fed to level 15, or bred with Yool and Hoola. Monculus has a low Coin production, but high maximum income compared to other Monsters on Seasonal Shanty. The Goal for placing a Monculus on Seasonal Shanty rewards the player with 5 Diamonds (
).
Song[]
Audio sample:
Voice actor: Tom Meikle
Monculus produces a breathy whooshing sound before singing to produce a heavily autotuned resounding synth chord, similar to the autotuned singing of Rare Wubbox, the roars of Epic Wubbox, and the mechanically guttural voices of the Colossals.
On Seasonal Shanty, it sings alongside Punkleton and Gobbleygourd.
On Ethereal Island, it sings with Bellowfish and Reebro during the build-up of the song.
On Wublin Island, it sings with Whajje and Maulch for the first part of the song. However, it only sings during that part and nowhere else.
VSTs[]
- Main article: VSTs
Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

VSTs: Waves Harmony and kHs Trance Gate
Breeding[]
Monculus can only be bred for a limited time during the Life-Formula season on Ethereal Island, or anytime on Seasonal Shanty.

Note that breeding Seasonal Monsters is not 100% guaranteed to get you the Monster. You might have to try multiple times.
However, on Seasonal Shanty, the best way of getting a duplicate Monculus is by breeding a Common Monculus with its Rare variant, with 100% chance of getting it if the Rare variant is not available:

Availability[]
- For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability
Monculus, like all Seasonals are only available during their own season, a weekend Out-of-Season event (6 months apart) and the Anniversary Month Celebration. It is also available to breed at any time on Seasonal Shanty.
NOTE: Monculus can only be bred or purchased during the available dates. Any Monculi on Ethereal Island or Wublin Island that are obtained during that time will stay unless they are sold. However, as stated before, Monculus can be bought or bred on Seasonal Shanty at any time, though it is discounted when it is available on other islands. Additionally, Monculus can be woken up on Wublin Island at any time once it is purchased.
Powering Up[]
The allotted time to fill a Monculus in order to activate is 10 days. If the inventory is not completed in the time the Monculus resets to an empty statue and all eggs inside are lost. Eggs can be zapped from Mirror Islands instead of, or in conjunction with Natural and Magical Islands.

None of the Islands after Fire Haven have any of the Monsters required to awaken Monculus.
Filling In[]
Like Wublins, Monculus can instead be filled in with Diamonds. Each egg can be filled in for 30 Diamonds (
). Monculus requires a total of 300 Diamonds (
) for all eggs to be filled.
Since all eggs have an equal Diamond fill cost, it is best to save your Diamonds for the Monsters that are harder to obtain. And oftentimes, it is cheaper to speed up eggs to zap from the Breeding Structure instead.
Wildcards may also be used when filling in a Monculus's inventory. Similarly, it's best to save them for harder to obtain Monsters.
Likes[]
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Monculus:

Gobbleygourd
(level 9)
(

Barbloo Statue
(level 13)

Meldablend
(level 5)

Mountain Morsel
(level 10)
(
See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.
Note: On Wublin Island, Monculus does not have any likes. Placing these Decorations near Monculus will not affect the Currency it generates.
Monsters Who Like It[]
The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Monculus or when Monculus and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Monculus's likes as well:
Statistics[]
Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]
Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Shards per hour and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.
Ethereal Island[]
Seasonal Shanty[]
Wublin Island[]
- Main article: Wublins#Income
Like Wublins, Monculus will produce Coins, Diamonds, Treats, and Shards, but at no specified rate, although always less than a day. Monculus generates a random type of currency every 6 to 12 hours. Unlike Wublins, Monculus is unaffected by Polarity
Currency generation is calculated separately per Monster, so multiple Monculi will receive more currency, and have a higher chance overall to obtain valuable Diamonds. For maximizing income across your Wublin Island, see Wublin Island Grid Planning.
Currency Distribution[]
- Main article: Wublins#Currency Type Distribution
The currency for Monculus on Wublin Island is randomly selected from the 4 currencies it can produce. The chances to get each currency are detailed below. Datapoints are the number of recorded collections; the higher number of datapoints, the more accurate the data is.
| Datapoints | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 31.65% | 31.94% | 31.56% | 4.85% | 13,646 |
Please do not edit this table. The data is taken from the Wublins page, which is derived from a joint spreadsheet. You can share your data on its talk page. Note that only large sample sizes of data are valuable.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.
| The Treats per level table: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
More info can be found in the Feeding article. Monculus cannot be fed on Wublin Island, and it is already at Level 15 size when activated.
Egg Consumption[]
- Main article: Zapping
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Monculus eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.
Monculus |
|
Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Monculus eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Also note that Seasonal Monsters, like Monculus, cannot be zapped from Seasonal Shanty.
Strategy[]
- The following section details strategy for powering up Monculus, for general strategy that can apply to any Monster, see Zapping#Strategy
On Wublin Island, Monculus can be powered up with up to Earth Island unlocked. It can be powered up faster with more Islands unlocked, with Bonus Breeding Structures, or Enhanced Breeding Structures. The following strategy requires zapping Eggs twice per day, once in the morning and once at night.
If you have all Islands up to Earth Island, breed:
| Island | Day 1 | Day 2 |
|---|---|---|
Plant Island |
Entbrat |
T-Rox |
Cold Island |
Deedge |
Thumpies |
Air Island |
Riff |
PomPom |
Water Island |
Shellbeat |
Reedling |
Earth Island |
Quarrister |
Clamble |
Advanced Strategy[]
If you want to start making a Monculus farm, utilizing Bonus Breeding Structures and Mirror Islands is a good strategy. The following strategy produces 2 Monculi per day, and only requires the Natural and Mirror Islands.

- Monculus is the only Seasonal Monster released after Ffidyll to not play at Spurrit's verse.
The plural form of Monculus displayed in the Out of Season sale.
- The plural form of Monculus is "Monculi", as confirmed by the Out of Season sale.
- Monculus was the first appearance of Krystillium in the main game. Krystillium is the crystal naturally found in the Pocket Dimension.
- Monculus' default breeding time, 20:04:00 and its maximum coin income at Level 1 (2,004) are likely a reference to the year Big Blue Bubble Inc. was founded, in 2004.
- Monculus' internal name is "Golem", as shown on its image name on the Big Blue Bubble website.
- As its bio states, Monculus is one of the first Monsters canonically to be awakened by the Spark of Life. This Spark of Life may also be the same Spark of Life that wakes up the Wublins and powers Wubbox.
- Monculus was first teased at the end of the My Singing Monsters Live of May 2022, where a picture of Monculus' Element was shown, with static overlaid on top of it.
- When a Monculus eats, the nutrition from the treats is redistributed from the mouth to different parts of its body through plasmic Krystillium that flows over and through it, similar to how a person's bloodstream carries nutrients to different organs in their body.
- Monculus' dormant form on Wublin Island can be seen in the SummerSong 2022 trailer, 11 months before actually going there.
- Monculus' Diamond reward on Wublin Island used to be 4 Diamonds (
), but it was adjusted down to 2 Diamonds (
) on June 14th, 2023 to be in line with the Wublins that take 2x2 grid spaces. - Monculus' inventory on Wublin Island may be a reference to the method of obtaining Ethereal Monsters on the Natural Islands, as it requires one Triple-Elemental and one Quad-Elemental for each Natural Island.
- Monculus is erroneously referred to as a Wublin by the popup that appears when its inventory is completed (which is shared by all Wublins).
- Upon the initial release of Monculus' arrival on Wublin Island, upon successfully filling the inventory within the time limit, the menu would erroneously show the "Power Up" button instead of the "Wake Up" button. Doing so plays the sound where a Wubbox would've been powered up.
- Eventually, it was fixed and now uses the sounds of Wublin awakening instead.
- Monculus on Wublin Island experienced another glitch on December 25 2024, when an inactive Monculus could be sold then bought back fully awakened. As well as its awakening animation being played in the buy back option in the shop.
- During the start of SkyPainting 2023, Monculus' sound on Ethereal Island and Wublin Island was made significantly louder.
- On the opposite end, its Memory Game sound had also been shortened and made quieter.
- Despite the appearance of Rare Blipsqueak, Monculus does not appear on Wublin Island in Chill Monster Vibes - Monster Beats to Study/Relax.
- Monculus is the first, and currently only, Monster on Wublin Island to not have the Electricity Element.
- Likewise, it is also the first and only Monster on Wublin Island to not be a Supernatural Monster.
- It is also the only Monster on Wublin Island to not require the same amount of Keys to unlock its evolutionary potential as the number of days of its time limit to fill it up.
