The Meebkin gets its name from a greater-than-average affinity for the Meeb critters essential to the specialized processes of the Workshop. Rather than being recruited for attunement, a pair is carefully chosen to perch on either end of a special baton made of woven fibers. Deftly and gymnastically twirling the baton over its head, the Meebkin is able to coax otherworldly groans and gargles out of the mouths of Meebs, but don't worry - the critters aren't uncomfortable. Rather the opposite: the Triple-Element Ethereal is a doting and responsible caretaker.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Meebkin is a Triple-Element Ethereal Monster found on Ethereal Workshop. It was added alongside Yooreek, Blarret, Gaddzooks, and Auglur on October 11th, 2023 during version 4.1.0. As a Triple-Element Ethereal on Ethereal Workshop, it is obtained by successfully extracting the energies of a Plasma Meeb, a Shadow Meeb, and a Crystal Meeb, using the Synthesizer by spending 2,500 Shards. Its successful synthesis time is 1 day and 6 hours long. As a Triple-Element Ethereal, Meebkin has worse Shard production than Single-Element or Double-Element Ethereals, but Ethereal Workshop lacks both of those, making it an ideal choice for the Island. When you first enter Ethereal Workshop, It is already in your Synthesizer and you can place it down. The Goal for placing your first Meebkin rewards the player with 100 Shards.

Song[]

Audio sample:

Instrument: Unknown, Rattle

Meebkin plays a strange, unknown sound using its baton, along with a rattling sound from its tail. The sound is similar to an angklung, a percussive synth, or even rapid kalimba rolls. It could also be a heavily edited vocal sample, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

VSTs[]

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

The VST for Meebkin has not yet been found, but it is possibly a vocal sample.

Synthesizing[]

Meebkin is only available for purchase or synthesizing on Ethereal Workshop. This requires using three Meebs in the Synthesizer attuned to the elements of Plasma, Shadow and Crystal. One Meebkin is already pre-incubated and ready to be placed from the Island's Synthesizer when visiting the Island for the first time.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Meebkin:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Meebkin or when Meebkin and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Meebkin's likes as well:

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Shards per hour and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Notes[]

  • Meebkin's name originates from ‘Meeb’, the critter used to synthesize all Ethereal Workshop Monsters, and ‘kin’, due to it being a caretaker of the Meebs as stated by its bio. The name may also originate from 'Munchkin', which refers to a cat breed with short, stubby legs, similar to Meebkin itself.
  • Meebkin was teased by MayTree in a video where they made an acapella cover of Plant Island.[1]
  • Meebkin is one of two Monster species that is already incubated upon visiting an Island for the first time. The other is Tweedle on all of the Natural Islands besides Plant Island.
    • A Meebkin was seen being synthesized in the 4.1 trailer.
  • Although Meebkin appears to play a rattling instrument, like an angklung, it 'plays' the Meebs like a whirly tube by spinning/rotating them.
  • Exclusively in the trailer, Meebkin was the very first teased Ethereal Workshop Monster to have its actual appearance to be revealed, although its design from the trailer is a bit different than its actual design in-game.
  • Meebkin's portrait has a much darker shadow compared to other Monsters' portraits. Whether or not this is intentional is currently unknown.
    • Its eyes are also much more transparent in the portrait compared to its actual design.
  • Meebkin's design is slightly different in the Ethereal Workshop trailer, with the notable differences being with its staff, the green appendages behind its body and head, the bottom of its head, part of its right arm, as well as there being more shine on its design.
  • Despite being the first Monster obtained on Ethereal Workshop (being free when the Island is unlocked), Meebkin is not the least unstable Monster present on the Island. Instead, Yooreek is the least unstable, while Meebkin is second.
  • Meebkin, like all Triple Element Ethereals, seem to have 3 of something other than their elements. For Meebkin, It has 3 faces (One being the Meebkin itself, and the other two being the Meebs.), 3 fingers on each hand, and three “bushels” on its head and tail.
