Strategy

As a Water () and Cold Monster, Maw is naturally strong against Cold () and Earth () Monsters and attacks, but are weak against Plant () and Water (). Between Maw's base move set and costume selection, it completely misses out on dealing strong damage to Oaktopus and Spunge.

Costume choice:

• Antique Antennae is a straight upgrade of the Musical move with more power.
• Honeycombover is an extra Musical Move that deals greater raw damage than Liquid Quip. This makes its costume, Antique Antennae, more obsolete. However, it is only accessible to Maws at level 15 or greater.

Notes

• Tonguey Trill's tune could be a reference to the TV show "Taratabong, the World of the Meloditties", which is also about musical creatures.
• When using Liquid Quip, Maw sings Ah-ha's "Take on me".
• Frigid Refrain's tune could be a reference to the Loading Music.
  • It may also be an excerpt from the Plants vs Zombies main theme.
• Update 3.2.0 permanently changed the price of many costumes. Honeycombover changed from 80 (discounted) and 120 (full price) to 40 (discounted) and 60 (full price).
