Strategy

As a Water () and Cold Monster, Maw is naturally strong against Cold () and Earth () Monsters and attacks, but are weak against Plant () and Water (). Between Maw's base move set and costume selection, it completely misses out on dealing strong damage to Dandidoos

Costume choice:

• Antique Antennae is a straight upgrade of the Musical move with more power.
• Honeycombover is an extra Musical Move that deals greater raw damage than Liquid Quip. This makes its other Musical move costume, Antique Antennae, more obsolete. However, it is only accessible to Maws at level 15 or higher.
• No Eyes with a Vase provides Maw with a Plant () attack, which allows it to deal damage to any Monsters with Water (). This costume also gives it a coverage similar to Furcorn. Normally, Maw is unable to deal with Oaktopi, but with this costume, it can. It is still not good for battling Spunges though, as the Plant attack has no effect on Spunge since two of its elements are strong (Water) and weak (Air) against Plant.

Notes

• A few of Maw's attacks sound similar to other songs:
  • Toungey Trill sounds similar the intro to Taratabong, a children's cartoon about musical instruments.
  • Liquid Quip sounds like the synth riff to a-ha's "Take On Me".
  • Frigid Refrain sounds like a mixture of "The Monster World" (the song that plays in the login screen) and the main theme to Plants vs. Zombies.

• Update 3.2.0 permanently changed the price of many costumes, including the Honeycombover costume, changing from 80 (discounted) and 120 (full price) to 40 (discounted) and 60 (full price).
