My Singing Monsters
For a list of all Islands available to visit from the Map, see Islands.

The Map is the menu in My Singing Monsters through which the player can access their Islands. It is unlocked after the player reaches Level 7, appearing in the menu bar located in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Overview[]

Unlocked Islands can be accessed by selecting their pins on the Map, or through the list of the Islands on the left side of the screen, which can be sorted to the player's liking and also contains indicators of finished processes in the Islands, such as Currency ready to be collected or finished breeding or incubation. Selecting an Island shows the amount of occupied Castle beds and numbers of unlocked Monsters and Costumes, as well as the currently active Seasonal Event. The appearance of the Island pin will also change depending on the activated Island Skin. If the requirements to unlock an Island have not been met, its pin will be absent from the Map. If the requirements are met but the Island has not been accessed yet, a projection of its standard icon will be shown instead of its pin when selected.

After the Map becomes available to the player, Gold Island and Ethereal Island are immediately unlocked for free. Shugabush Island is also unlocked for free after Air Island is purchased, while Tribal Island and Wublin Island are unlocked after reaching Level 10 and Level 13 respectively. When visiting Friends, the Map of their archipelagos opens, enabling visits to all of their Islands, and Islands where Wishing Torches can be lit by visitors are also highlighted.

If the player is invited to join a Tribe on Tribal Island, the Map menu icon will show a notification in its upper right-hand corner, designated by a "!". Once on Tribal Island, the invitation can be accepted or declined from the Tribal tab.

Music[]

When viewing the Map, if the player selects the Island they are already on, the song of that Island will continue playing. When another Island is selected or the Map is dragged around, the game will play one of several music tracks exclusive to the Map. These tracks are unlocked as certain Island collections are completed, and the selection of tracks also differs between the main Map and the mirrored Map, with the tracks of the mirrored Map being alternate versions of those of the main Map with a more somber tone.

  • On the main Map, the track selection includes:
  • On the mirrored Map, the track selection includes:
    • An alternate version of the main Map's Login Screen arrangement, unlocked by default.
    • An alternate version of the main Map's Natural Island arrangement, unlocked after discovering all Mirror Natural Islands.
    • An alternate version of the main Map's Magical Island arrangement, unlocked after discovering all Mirror Magical Islands.

Torus Map lore[]

The current Torus Map, introduced in version 4.3.0, is a symbolic representation of the toroidal Monster World that depicts the physical locations of the Islands. The Map is adorned with details which indicate characteristics of the Islands, the relationships between them, and the nature of their locations.

  • "The World" is written in Monstrous in a stylized logo at the bottom of the torus.
  • Each Island has its name written in Monstrous next to its pin, alongside a symbol representing its associated Element or the class of Monsters that inhabits it.
  • At the center of the Map, Gold Island and Amber Island are placed on a torn piece of paper above the void in the middle of the torus, representing the Higher Plane.
  • The Natural Islands and Fire Haven are placed in the inner region of the Map, representing the top of the torus. The positions of the Islands approximately correspond to their original locations in the ancient Continent.
  • Shugabush Island, Composer Island, Tribal Island, and The Colossingum are placed on the outer equator of the torus, separating the inner and outer regions of the Map, representing The Seam.
  • The outer region of the Map, representing the underside of the torus, is populated by Wublin Island, Fire Oasis, the Magical Islands, Seasonal Shanty, and Celestial Island.
    • Wublin Island is surrounded by dark clouds and thunderbolts, representing The Storm.
    • A symbol resembling Toe Jammer is drawn near Fire Oasis, representing the Jammerlands, the location where the spin-off game Jammer Splash takes place.
    • Light Island and Seasonal Shanty have trails drawn around them, representing how both Islands are not in fixed locations (Light Island follows the path of the Aurora Monstralis, and Seasonal Shanty is a barge navigating the Living Ocean).
      • The Aurora Monstralis itself is also depicted near Light Island.
    • Celestial Island has elemental symbols from the remnants of Starhenge drawn around it, specifically Shadow, Poison, and Fire.
  • There is a tear in the Map between Water Island and Wublin Island, representing the Monstriana Trench, which connects the two Islands.
  • Fire Haven and Bone Island are placed in a layer below the rest of the Map, representing how both Islands are located underground. There are lines connecting them to each other, the volcano of the Living Core, Fire Oasis, and Tribal Island, representing the system of caves that connect them.
  • In the bottom-left corner, Ethereal Island, Magical Sanctum, and Ethereal Workshop are placed on a darker torn piece of paper, representing the Pocket Dimension.
    • There are tendrils encircling Ethereal Workshop and leading to Ethereal Island, representing how Ethereal Workshop is located inside Ethereal Island.
  • In the top-left corner, Mythical Island is placed on a separate Map of the Monster World's moon, representing the Dreamscape. The symbol of the Mythical Element is imprinted onto the moon itself.
  • In the top-right corner, Magical Nexus is placed on a space-themed torn piece of paper, representing the Beyond.

Points of Interest[]

Added in version 4.5.0, Points of Interest are special pins on the Map that provide insight into certain aspects of the Monster World when selected.

It wouldn't be a proper map without some fancy Monstrous calligraphy that spells out 'The World' and depictions of fearsome creatures from parts unknown.
Point of Interest for "Monstrous Calligraphy"

The majority of the Monster World is covered by a single massive body of water known as the living ocean. Most Islands are situated above the surface, but Water Island is uniquely position beneath the tides.
Point of Interest for "Living Ocean"
The living core, the Monster World's most prominent volcano, only recently emerged above the surface of the living ocean, having spent countless years submerged and presumed lost after the end of the Dawn of Fire.
Point of Interest for "Living Core"
The Seam runs along the outer equator of the Monster World. Numerous islands that share an especially strong connection with the human world can be found along this invisible path.
Point of Interest for "The Seam"
A series of labyrinthine tunnels and passageways criss-cross the subterranean reaches of the Monster World. They are especially concentrated in the region around Fire Haven.
Point of Interest for "Underground"
Jammerland is a tropical atoll near Fire Oasis where a castaway population of Toe Jammers established their own society long ago. Its terrain is diverse and its recreational activities very splashy.
Point of Interest for "Jammerland"
The Aurora Monstralis is a magical phenomenon that lights up the night sky. The Titan Phosphora follows the Aurora around, causing Light Island to never be in a fixed position.
Point of Interest for "Aurora Monstralis"
Dense clouds form in this area of the Monster World, a vestige of even stronger weather patterns from Monster antiquity. They both protect and isolate Faerie Island.
Point of Interest for "Dense Clouds"
The deepest section of the living ocean is called the Monstriana Trench, where unusual deep-sea creatures dwell. Wublin Island is accessible via a crack in the sea floor at the bottom of the trench.
Point of Interest for "Monstriana Trench"
Intense tempests of lightning and thunder encircle Wublin Island; the area is positively coursing with the Supernatural Element of Electricity.
Point of Interest for "The Storm"
The waters of the living ocean that surround the Seasonal Shanty are appropriately referred to as the Shanty Sea. It's next to impossible to navigate unless you happen to be a Seasonal who knows the way.
Point of Interest for "Shanty Sea"
The higher plane is another dimension of reality that allows Monsters to exist in two places at once, and has historically also been used as a 'seed-vault' for the precious Element of Fire. Both Gold Island and Amber Island reside in this superliminal state of being.
Point of Interest for "Higher Plane"
The pocket dimension actually predates the Monster World, and served as an experimental staging ground for the Colossals during the earliest days of their acts of creation. Currently, Ethereal Island, the Workshop inside it, and Magical Sanctum are contained therein.
Point of Interest for "Pocket Dimension"
The dreamspace is a metaphysical reality devised by Dream Crafter so that Mythical Island may exist there. It's neither real nor unreal, but if we had to place it somewhere, it'd be on the Monster World moon.
Point of Interest for "Dreamspace"
There's a whole universe out there past the edges of the Monster World, from Anglow's home planet to the point of origin of Stair Shaper. Magical Nexus resides in the Beyond.
Point of Interest for "Beyond"

Notes[]

  • The torus Map's design being in the shape of a torus was teased back in February of 2023, in the "Surely You Jest" trailer, where a torus-shaped object can be seen in the back of a scene with Monster-Handler Matt. This was later revealed to be a teaser for the torus Map in the "Good as Gold" version 4.0 kickoff trailer.
  • The Map's tracks are the only songs to play without any relation to Monsters, and also mark the second instance of a song not playing on any Island, the first being in the Login Screen.
  • Every Island pin has the Island's respective Critter placed on it, with the sole exception of Wublin Island, which lacks its spark.
  • Despite the map showing most completed actions, it currently does not show when Attuning or Synthesizing is complete.
  • In the top center of the map menu, the Book of Monsters can be seen laying on the table, and in the bottom-right corner, the mirror which represents the Mirror Islands and a compass with the sigil of Perplexplore are present.
  • On October 12th, 2024, a music video of the Map was released, featuring Mammott, Grumpyre, Furcorn, Oaktopus, Ghazt, Pummel, Boodoo, Kazilleon, Schmoochle, Glowl, Bowgart, and Arackulele playing the main Monster World theme.
