My Singing Monsters

It is unclear whether Krillby's vestigial wings are powerful enough for sustained flight, but this Fire Monster is more at home on the ground than in the air. Its talons make it easy to maneuver across many different terrains, while its wings guide the air in and around the ocarina-like bodies to help produce the lovely whistles for which they are known. This also regulates the Krillby's body temperature when running very fast, something you have to do often when you look as tasty as Krillby does.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Krillby is a Quad-Element Fire Monster that is found on Faerie Island and Amber Island. It was added alongside Epic Jeeode on April 13th, 2022, during version 3.4.1. As a Quad-Element Fire Monster on a Magical Island, Krillby is only available at select times. When available, it is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 300 Relics (Relics). By default, its incubation time is 1 day and 16 hours long. Krillby has a high Coin production on Faerie Island, comparable to Pladdie and PongPing. The Goal for placing your first Krillby rewards the player with 100,000 Coins (Coins) and 4 Relics.

On Amber Island, Krillby is only available at select times. When available, it is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 30 Relics as a Vessel, which then can be revitalized by zapping eggs into it. As a Fire Quad-Elemental, Krillby has an excellent Relic production.

Instrument: Recorder

Similar to its Dawn of Fire counterpart, Krillby whistles to make a sound similar to a recorder.

VSTs[]

Main article: VSTs

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

Breeding[]

Unlike in Dawn of Fire, Krillby cannot be bred. Instead, it must be purchased from the Market. On Amber Island, it must be purchased as an inactive Vessel and revitalized by zapping eggs.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Krillby:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all Monsters' likes.

Note: On Amber Island, all of Krillby's likes are only obtainable for a limited time. Amber Vessels must be revitalized before they count towards Krillby's happiness.

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Krillby or when Krillby and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Krillby's likes as well:

Revitalizing[]

On Amber Island, Krillby must be powered up rather than being bred. Unlike Wublins and Celestials, the allotted time to fill a Vessel does not start when the first egg is zapped, but instead are only available to purchase and fill at select times. The inventory must be completed in this time. When a purchased vessel is incomplete after the time, it will disappear and half of the relics spent will be given back. You will also get the option to revive Krillby by purchasing the missing eggs with Diamonds. Eggs can be zapped from Mirror Islands instead of, or in conjunction with Natural and Magical Islands.

Filling In[]

Like other Monsters on Amber Island, Krillby can instead be filled in with Diamonds. Each egg can be filled in for 40Diamonds. Krillby requires a total of 1,840Diamonds for all eggs to be filled.

Since all eggs have an equal Diamond fill cost, it is best to save your Diamonds for the Monsters that are harder to obtain. And oftentimes, it is cheaper to speed up eggs to zap from the Breeding Structure instead.

Wildcards may also be used when filling in a Krillby's inventory with 1 Wildcards per egg. Similarly, it's best to save them for harder to obtain Monsters.

Notes[]

  • Krillby's name is a combination of "krill", a small crustacean that the Monster resembles, and a "bilby," which is a type of Australian marsupial that this Monster is loosely based on.
  • Krillby and Thrumble became the first Monsters on Amber Island to have more than 25% happiness, with Krillby being released with 3 likes and Thrumble being released with 2 likes.
  • When Faerie Island was first planned, Krillby was meant to be the Quad-Element Monster on the Island instead of Pladdie, making Faerie Island a Fire Island instead of Magical.
  • Krillby is one of only two Monsters on Amber Island to require Monsters with all 4 Magical Elements, with the other being Candelavra.
  • Despite its ocarina-shaped back, Krillby plays a recorder instead.
  • Krillby is one of the only two Monsters to have the Air Element on Faerie Island. The other is Tuskski.
  • Krillby on Faerie Island is the first Monster to have a special dance animation synchronized with another Monster's sound (in this case being HippityHop).
  • Not counting Kayna, whose Vessel requires a lot of eggs on top of not having either a time limit or limited availability, Krillby's vessel costs the most Diamonds to automatically fill all its egg requirements. In fact, Krillby's Vessel costs 40 more Diamonds to fill completely than Candelavra's 1,800 Diamonds required to completely fill its Vessel.
  • Krillby is currently the only Fire Quad without a costume, and one of two Fire Monsters overall to not have one, the other being Tuskski.
