“ | The Humbug is the incarnation of the misunderstood Ethereal element of Poison. When it buzzes its wings fast enough, it can open up and glide on supersonic dimensional highways from universe to universe. Humbugs naturally enjoy warm weather, and are drawn to humid places where the hum produced by their wings has the finest tone. | ” |
Humbug is a single-element Ethereal Monster with the Poison element. It was added to The Colossingum on June 21st, 2023, during Version 3.9.3.
Once Humbug has been fed to at least level 5, it can be teleported to The Colossingum from either Earth Island or Ethereal Island, although the latter is recommended, due to Humbug being easier to breed there.

Strategy[]
As a Poison () Monster, Humbug is naturally strong against Crystal (
) monsters and is resistant to Crystal (
) attacks. It also has an Earth (
) attack, meaning that its attacks are more powerful against Air (
) Monsters, but it is not resistant to Air (
) Monsters. Whenever a Humbug uses a Poison (
) attack, it heals itself based on its output damage. Like all Ethereal Monsters, Humbug will cease to heal itself after using any Poison (
) move 5 times.
Costume Choices:
- Big Fungus replaces its Earth attack with a weaker attack, but stronger than Toxic Trait. When equipped however, it cannot deal with Air monsters as effectively, as a result of the loss of its Earth attack. It is a good choice when you know you will not need to use Foreign Contaminant against any Naturals, and a good starter Poison attack for level 5-9 Humbugs.
Notes[]
- When using "Toxic Trait", Humbug plays the second half of the riff from Britney Spears' "Toxic".
- Big Fungus may be a reference to how many mushrooms in the wild are poisonous.
- The name is also a reference to the internet meme "Big Chungus" which is from the Merry Melodies cartoon "Wabbit Twouble".
- Furthering the Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies connection comes from the Big Fungus move, which sounds similar to "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down", a song that is commonly known as the Looney Tunes theme tune.
- The mushroom aesthetic could also be a reference to the Cordyceps, a parasitic fungus commonly known for infecting various insects including wasps.
- The name is also a reference to the internet meme "Big Chungus" which is from the Merry Melodies cartoon "Wabbit Twouble".
- MailMon Mike is possibly a reference to Postman Pat, a British children's television series about a mailman.
- Additionally, the costume's name could be a reference to Mailman Mike, a character played by ex-Monster-Handler Mike that appeared in a few episodes of My Singing Monsters Live.
- Training a Humbug from level 19 to 20 costs 250,000,000 coins, which is tied for the most expensive transaction in-game with training the Quarrister from level 19 to 20. It is not only the most expensive, but also the longest action in the game, taking over 32 days to complete one level of training.
- To add insult to injury, Humbug is the longest monster to max out at level 20, taking nearly five months to do so.
- Upon release, there was a bug where Humbug's held notes were replaced with a high pitched beep noise. This was later fixed during SkyPainting 2023, however. The same bug applied to Ghazt and Jeeode.
