If you hear the cheerful gobbley-gobbley-goo of the gobbley Gobbleygourd, prepare your tummy: you're about to feel stuffed! This overzealous Monster was so thrilled to find new friends moving in to Fire Haven that it seized the opportunity to finally kickstart the Seasonal Event of its dreams: Feast-Ember, a time for sharing in nature's delectable bounty. From Smunkin Pie to savory Turkey, crunchy Big Salad to toasty Bread, Gobbleygourd will see to it that you sample a healthy bite of each dish. Much like an excitable relation who's always coming up with new holiday traditions, the Gobbleygourd might seem a bit... intense in its Feast-Ember celebrations - but you can't help but play along!
Monster Bio

Description[]

Gobbleygourd is a Seasonal Monster that celebrates the Feast-Ember season and is found on Fire Haven, Fire Oasis, and Seasonal Shanty. It was added on November 20th, 2019 during Version 2.3.4. As a Seasonal Monster, it is only available at certain times. It is best obtained by breeding Kayna and Glowl. By default, its breeding time is 21 hours long. Gobbleygourd does not have a high coin production.

Gobbleygourd can either be teleported to Seasonal Shanty once fed to level 15, or bred with Punkleton and Yool. Gobbleygourd has a low coin production compared to other Monsters on Seasonal Shanty. The Goal for placing a Gobbleygourd on Seasonal Shanty rewards the player with 5 Diamonds.

Song[]

Gobbleygourd says "Gobbley Gobbley Gah, a Gobbley Gobbley Goo! A Gobbley Gobbley Gah, a Gobbley Gobbley Goo!" on Fire Haven.

Gobbleygourd says "Gobbley Gobbley Gah, a Gobbley Gobbley Goo! "Gobbley Gobbley Gah, a Gobbley Gobbley Goo!" on Fire Oasis.

Mimic makes a similar noise while copying it.

Gobbleygourd has two songs on Seasonal Shanty, the first being "Gobb' ley Gaaaaw... Gobbley Gobbley Gah, a Gobbley Gobbley Yool!", and the second being "Gaaaw, Gerrr... Gaaah!"

Breeding[]

The Gobbleygourd Monster can only be bred for a limited time during the Feast-Ember season on Fire Haven and Fire Oasis, or anytime on Seasonal Shanty.

Note that breeding Seasonal Monsters is not 100% guaranteed to get you the Monster. You might have to try multiple times.

(Best choice, 100% chance of a Gobbleygourd if Rare Gobbleygourd is unavailable)

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Gobbleygourd, like all Seasonals are only available during their own season, a weekend Out-of-Season event (6 months apart) and the Anniversary Month Celebration. It is also available to breed at any time on Seasonal Shanty.

NOTE: Gobbleygourd can only be bred or purchased during the available dates. Any Gobbleygourds on Fire Haven or Fire Oasis that are obtained during that time will stay unless they are sold. However, as stated before, Gobbleygourd can be bought or bred on Seasonal Shanty at any time, though it is discounted when it is available on other islands. Gobbleygourd is also obtainable via weekly Scratch Tickets on Fire Haven and Fire Oasis.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Gobbleygourd:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Gobbleygourd or when Gobbleygourd and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Gobbleygourd's likes as well:

Egg Consumption[]

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Gobbleygourd eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Gobbleygourd eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Also note that Seasonal Monsters, like Gobbleygourd, cannot be zapped from Seasonal Shanty.

Possible Monster Names[]

  • One of Gobbleygourd's Monster Names, "Tophurkey", is a reference to tofurky, a vegan version of turkey made of tofu.

Notes[]

  • The name "Gobbleygourd" is a combination of gobble, gourd, and gobbledygook (gibberish).
  • Gobbleygourd is one of the few Monsters that keeps its vocals but changes pitch throughout its sound. Another example is Barrb.
  • Gobbleygourd held the longest Monster name at 12 letters, previously held by Creepuscule with 11 letters and Teeter-Tauter at 13 characters (if counting the dash) as this was beaten by Phosphoran Phlox by 16 characters (if counting the space).
    • Depending on how you pronounce it, Gobbleygourd could have either 3 or 4 syllables.
  • Gobbleygourd, like all other Aux Seasonals, cannot be placed on Gold Island or be teleported to The Colossingum.
  • Gobbleygourd seems to be in the art style of My Singing Monsters: Dawn of Fire, as before Version 3.7.0, it was the most detailed compared to other Monsters.[citation needed] This, combined with concept art for baby forms, indicates it was originally going to be in that game.
  • As shown in the Feast-Ember 2019 trailer, Gobbleygourd had fallen into several decorations like pumpkins, which explains why it has them on its body.
  • Gobbleygourd was the first new Seasonal Monster released in over 5 years.
  • Gobbleygourd was the first Aux. Seasonal to be released, and also the only one to be released before Seasonal Shanty.
  • Gobbleygourd was the first Monster to have its Rare and Epic variants released in the same year, that being in 2021.
  • Two Gobbleygourd eggs were accidentally included as part of Barrb's vessel requirements during the release of Wave 4 on Amber Island, though it was patched a few hours later. Instead, it was two Gob eggs that were meant to be part of Barrb's requirements. This makes sense, as they both start with "GOB".
    • Any Gobbleygourd eggs that were zapped into Barrb's vessel were completely deleted instead of being replaced or turned into Coins.
  • Due to being on Fire Oasis, which plays at 120 BPM, Gobbleygourd was the first Seasonal to have a track that is not 140 BPM.
  • Gobbleygourd was the first Aux. Seasonal to have celebrated its respective event, but not have any alternate design, the second being Carillong.
    • The Core Seasonals all have costumes, while Jam Boree and Clavavera both had their designs changed for their 2022 celebrations.
  • Gobbleygourd is one of the toughest Monsters in the Monster World. Its body is completely fireproof and it is nearly invincible, as shown when surviving being launched by Wubbox at supersonic speeds through the atmosphere without catching on fire or being harmed, and also seemingly enjoying it in the Daydream Believer trailer.
    • It evolved this way as it's extremely accident-prone and lives in very flammable environments.
  • In the trailer for Cherubble, Gobbleygourd uses the same flying animation that it does on Seasonal Shanty.
  • Due to its breeding combination only consisting of the Air and Fire elements, Gobbleygourd would be with Glowl on any island with standard breeding mechanics.
  • Ironically, Gobbleygourd, Congle, and Mimic are the only Monsters in the entire franchise to feature actual eggs in their egg designs.
  • Both of Gobbleygourd's breeding parents on Fire Haven and Fire Oasis can also be found on Cave Island in Dawn of Fire.
  • Gobbleygourd's body, before it fell into the seasonal decorations during Feast-Ember 2019, still hasn't been shown as of now. Although we could see a black shadow of it in the Feast-Ember 2019 trailer. In the trailer, it resembled some sort of eagle instead of a turkey.
  • Gobbleygourd is the first Monster on Fire Oasis that does not play at Toe Jammer's verse, the second being Spurrit.
    • For vice versa (Toe Jammer's verse but not Gobbleygourd's verse), there's Toe Jammer and Pango, meaning there are less Monsters playing in Gobbleygourd's verse than in Toe Jammer's verse.
  • Gobbleygourd, Hoola, and Whajje are the only Monsters to sing their own name.
  • On November 22, 2012, a post on the old My Singing Monsters's Tumblr page once showed a fanmade Thanksgiving Monster drawn by Parker Beverly named Gobbler, whose name is almost similar to Gobbleygourd. Despite the post teasing about a Thanksgiving Monster in 2013, the actual Thanksgiving Monster won't be made until 2019.
    • It's also unclear if Gobbleygourd was based on Gobbler in any way.
