My Singing Monsters

A Glowl would seemingly make an excellent spy, soaring high above its flightless companions, but its fire-bright tail feathers make it easy to spot. Nevertheless, this monster maintains a bird's eye view of the world below and is always up-to-date on the latest happenings.
Monster Bio

Description

Glowl is a double-element Fire Monster that is first unlocked on Fire Haven. It was added on November 21st, 2018, during the 2.2.4 Fire Haven update. It is best obtained by breeding Tweedle and Kayna. By default, its breeding time is 10 hours long. As a Double Elemental, Glowl does not have a high coin production.

On Amber Island, Glowl is only available at select times. When available, it is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 10 Relics as a vessel, which then can be revitalized by zapping eggs into it.

Song

Audio Samples:

Voice actress: Sarah Parsons

On Fire Haven, Glowl sings "Ooo, ooo-ooo-ooo" in a mystical tone when the Kayna sings. On Fire Oasis, it sings "Haaaaaay-ooo-waaaay ooo-waaaay-aaaay-ay". On Amber Island it sings: Ahhhhhh. Ahhhh! Along with Kayna.

Breeding

It can be bred with the elements Fire and Air. There is only one breeding combination:

Note that breeding double element Fire-element monsters in the original MSM game is not guaranteed to be successful, unlike double-element non-Fire breeding. There sometimes can be breeding failures, but you'll still get a Glowl if you keep trying.

On Amber Island, it must be bought from the Market as an inactive vessel that can be woken up.

Likes

Every monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the monster, the monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a monster will still only increase its happiness by 25%. If there's a Unity Tree on the island, items don't need to be near the monsters. Below are the things liked by Glowl:

See the Likes page to view a complete list of all monsters' likes.

Note: on Amber Island, Glowl only likes other Monsters, and not any of the available Decorations, and cannot achieve 100% Happiness at this time. It is suspected that future Monsters on Amber Island will increase its Happiness.

Powering Up

On Amber Island, Glowl must be powered up rather than being bred. Unlike Wublins and Celestials, the allotted time to fill a Vessel does not start when the first egg is zapped, but are instead are only available to purchase and fill at select times. The inventory must be completed in this time. When a purchased vessel is incomplete after the time, it will disappear and half of the relics spent will be given back. You will also get the option to revive Glowl by purchasing the missing eggs with Diamonds.

Earning Rate and Maximum Income

Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Relics per month (28 days) and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Feeding Monsters

Each monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the monster's level increases the coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum coins earned.

Egg Consumption

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials and Vessels can be used to "dispose of" Glowl eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available.

Note that bred Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" into inactive Celestials and Vessels; active ones do not accept Monster eggs. Also note that inactive Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Glowl eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs.

Possible Monster Names

To see all possible names for Glowl, see Monster Names.

  • 'Circe' could be a reference to the enchantress Circe, from The Odyssey and other stories in Greek mythology.

Notes

  • Glowl's name is a portmanteau of Glow and Owl.
    • Similarly, a possible name, "Theena", probably references the Greek goddess Athena, with whom owls were associated.
  • Glowl is the only fire double to not appear on a Magical island. Likely because it was both on Fire Haven and Fire Oasis.
  • Interestingly, Glowl was the one responsible for reuniting Kayna with the Fire Monsters in Fire Haven and for finding the construction site for Fire Oasis.
  • The Glowl in Fire Haven sounds more like Galvana's.
  • A group of Glowls is called a "flare" of Glowls (My Singing Monsters Live, Ep. 86).
  • Glowl can be seen flying in the trailer of Fire Oasis. Glowl is also one of several monsters who have the ability to fly or levitate. Others being Tweedle, Cybop, Riff, Theremind, Poppette, Yuggler, Floot Fly, Squot (technically Squot can levitate, but further examination is needed.), Clavi Gnat, Withur, Fiddlement, Déjà-Jin, Cahoot, Osstax, Grumpyre, Ghazt, Jeeode, Humbug, Whisp, Jellbilly, Schmoochle, Flum Ox, and Plixie.
  • It was originally going to be called Skowl, as shown in its concept art.
  • Glowl's tracks on Amber Island have swapped animations and sounds in the Recording Studio.
