“ | There's no greater living proof that 'You are what you eat' than the Rare PomPom. Although sometimes confused for a separate Monster entirely, like the Hoola, this Rare is actually just a Common PomPom on a diet consisting entirely of indigo foods! The change isn't just reflected in its appearance, though - Rare PomPoms develop a heightened fashion sense, and coif their plumes in radical styles - with some blue highlights for good measure. | ” |

Description[]
Rare PomPom is a Triple-Element Rare Monster. It was added on November 11th, 2014 during the 1.3.0 2nd Anniversary Update. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is best obtained by breeding or by purchasing from the StarShop. Its breeding combination is the same as its Common variant. By default, its breeding time is 15 hours and 30 minutes long. Although a Rare Monster, Rare PomPom still does not have high Coin production.

- See PomPom.
Breeding[]
Rare PomPom can be bred the same way as a Common PomPom. Possible combinations are:
Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a regular PomPom may fail, and give a Rare PomPom as a result instead of the regular PomPom. This includes all of the breeding combinations that can't ever work in the usual way. In particular:
On Shugabush Island, Rare PomPom can be purchased with Diamonds or Starpower, bred with Shugabush and PomPom, or teleported from any other Island it is found on once it reaches level 15.
- Shugabush Island: + Shugabush and PomPom
- May result in a Shugitar. Can also result in an Epic Quibble if available
The Rare versions of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare PomPom and a Common PomPom together. The outcome will always be a PomPom and if a Rare PomPom is available at that time, it may result from this combination.
Availability[]
- For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability
Rare PomPom, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:
- All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
- All Monsters with a specific element.
- All Monsters with a specific theme.
- A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.
In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.
The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 Monsters on Amber Island).
Likes[]
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare PomPom:
- PomPom (requires level 7)
- Beeyoot Tree (level 8)
- Dragon Tower (level 20)
- Guitree (level 16) ()

Statistics[]
Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]
Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

More info can be found in the Feeding article.
Egg Consumption[]
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Rare Wublins and Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare PomPom eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Rare Wublins and Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare PomPom eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Rare Wublins have no time limit, and their egg inventories cannot be reset. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare PomPom is not required for the Celestial to ascend.
