“ | So this is how the other half lives… literally! For all of recorded Monster history, the Ethereal class has been confined to Single- and Double-Elementals… until the establishment of the Workshop. Located inside Ethereal Island and doubling as the 'brain' of the Colossal Zarroë, it's actually superimposed on the abandoned ruins of another entity's laboratory. Here, Zarroë has achieved the impossible and brought to life Triple-Element Ethereals (and beyond) using the unpredictably powerful Meebs and strange new Structures of its own invention. The Colossal's goal? To create a symphony of synthetic sounds worthy of the name Workshop! | ” |
About[]
Ethereal Workshop is an Island in My Singing Monsters that is home to the Meeb critters, Triple-Element, Quad-Element, and the Quint-Element Ethereals. It appears to be located inside the head of the Ethereal Island Colossal, and uses new mechanics that require the use of the Mirror Islands and strange creatures called Meebs. The Island was added in version 4.1.0, on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023.
The Island is located in the Pocket Dimension, as Shards are its main currency.
Obtaining Monsters[]
Ethereal Workshop has a unique mechanic to obtaining new Monsters not seen on any other Island. It utilizes two specialized Structures: the Attunement Structure and the Synthesizer. When you first get Ethereal Workshop at level 19, you will receive a free Meebkin egg ready to place from the Synthesizer.
Attunement[]
- Main article: Attunement Structure
To start getting more Monsters, attuning Meebs are required. Meebs are a special type of critter that can absorb the energies of each Ethereal element. With the Basic Castle, 10 Meebs are available, with more becoming available for each Castle upgrade.
Meebs are attuned in the Attunement Structure by traveling to different Mirror Islands. However, Mirror Islands are not required to be unlocked or purchased to attune Meebs. To attune a Meeb, select any Meeb from the right side of the Structure's GUI and then select an Island to travel to. It will take Shards and time to attune a Meeb. You can also attune Meebs from one element to a different one.
Every day at 11 AM EST (10 AM during daylight savings), the Mirror Islands rotate clockwise, meaning that they will take a different amount of Shards and time. When an Island resonates with the Attunement Structure, that Island will take only 500 and 5 hours to travel to. Waiting for an Island to be resonated will allow for more Meebs to be attuned in a day, while using less Shards. You can tell how long a current Mirror Island will take by looking at the current color of the text, and the text itself listed by the Mirror Island icons in the Attunement Structure.
Synthesis[]
- Main article: Synthesizer
Once you have attuned enough Meebs, the Synthesizer is available to use. Select the elemental Meebs based on the elements of the Monster you want to create. For example, Yooreek has the elements, ; so it can be synthesized with a Meeb attuned to the Plasma, Shadow, and Mech elements. ++ Each element introduced will increase the gauge, showing the level of instability. The closer the gauge is to the green side, the more stable the Monster combination will be. But the closer it is to the red side, the more unstable it will be. Each element has a different level of instability, increasing in the order in which they are unlocked with the Natural Islands. (A chart is shown below). Currently, only Oogiddy () and BeMeebEth () reach all the way to the end of the gauge.
A successful synthesis of a Triple-Element Ethereal will take 1 day and 6 hours, a Quad-Element Ethereal will take 1 day and 18 hours, and the Quint-Element Ethereal will take 2 days and 7 hours. An unsuccessful attempt to synthesize a Triple-Element Ethereal will take 10 hours, a Quad-Element Ethereal will take 17 hours, and the Quint-Element Ethereal will take 22 hours. Failing to synthesize an Ethereal will scramble the elemental attunements of the combined Meebs with random elements that were used in the process.
The Synthesizer can be upgraded to the Refined Synthesizer for a cost of 10,000, then to the Hyper-Refined Synthesizer for a cost of 20,000, then to the Super-Hyper-Refined Synthesizer for a cost of 30,000, then to the Mega-Super-Hyper-Refined Synthesizer for a cost of 40,000, and the most recent upgrade is the Ultra-Mega-Super-Hyper-Refined Synthesizer which costs 50,000. These new upgrades allow for synthesizing Quad-Element Ethereals and the Quint-Element Ethereal. Currently, there are five Quad-Element Ethereals and one Quint-Element Ethereal. The process of synthesizing Quads and the Quint works a little differently; you need to select a base monster (Triple-Element for Quads and Quad-Element for the Quint) that is placed on the Island to transform into the desired monster. When selecting a base Monster, three to four Meeb slots are already occupied, one for each Ethereal element the base Monster has. You may choose any of the remaining Meeb types to fill the last slot. Each slot requires two to three Meebs to start synthesizing. When the synthesis has succeeded, the base Monster you chose will be replaced with the new monster you have synthesized.
Song[]
Composer(s): Dylan Cole
The tempo is 140 BPM (4/4) and in the B minor, B harmonic minor and D major scale.
Ethereal Workshop's song is of the genre intelligent dance music.
The Island's ambience has a deeply ambience and gurgling sound.
Song Table[]
This is a chart that shows where each Monster plays in the song. Each part is 8 beats long, meaning that one part is around 3.43 seconds long. The number next to each Monster indicates which track is being played at each part.
Indigenous Monsters[]
The Monsters of Ethereal Workshop are of the Plasma (), Shadow (), Mech (), Crystal (), and Poison () elements. The island houses 16 different monsters unique to the island. The list of indigenous Monsters is below with each Monster's class indicated in parentheses.

Synthesis Combinations[]
Monsters can be synthesized by combining 3 (or more) Meebs with the same elements. Since each Monster has a unique elemental configuration, each one will have a different set of Meebs that can combine to make it. Unstable combinations may result in a higher rate of failure.

Obstacles[]
- Main article: Obstacles
Removing the Obstacles from the Island earns the player Experience (), and it opens up space to place more Monsters, Decorations, or Structures. Removed Obstacles are not gone permanently; they can be bought back with Diamonds () under the Decorations section in the Market. In total, it costs 152,500 to remove all Obstacles from the Island.
Small Tree Cost: 1 Removal: 500 |
Medium Tree Cost: 3 Removal: 1,000 |
Big Tree Cost: 5 Removal: 2,500 |
Small Rock Cost: 2 Removal: 1,000 |

Big Rock Cost: 10 Removal: 10,000 |
Castle[]
- Main article: Castle
To be placed on an Island, each Monster requires a specific number of beds. For Ethereal Monsters on Ethereal Workshop, Triple-Element Ethereals require fifteen beds, while Quad-Element Ethereals require twenty beds. The Ethereal Workshop Castle and its upgrades hold many more beds to account for the greater number of beds occupied by a single Ethereal Monster on Ethereal Workshop. Upgrading the Castle also grants more Meebs that can be attuned in the Attunement Structure. Upgrade the Castle to unlock more beds and Meebs.
Sound[]
The Castle also contributes to Ethereal Workshop's song. It makes a bass sound.
Common Castle[]
Castle | Cost | Time | XP | Beds | Meebs | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Basic Castle | Free | N/A | N/A | 100 | 10 | |
Modest Castle | 2,000 | 5 hours | 375 | 150 | 11 | |
Comfortable Castle | 4,000 | 10 hours | 750 | 225 | 13 | |
Spacious Castle | 8,000 | 15 hours | 3,750 | 325 | 16 | |
Luxurious Castle | 10,000 | 20 hours | 7,500 | 450 | 20 |
Strategy[]
Shards are a crucial resource, necessary for leveling up Tribal Island.
While the song of the island is crucial, users may also want to use some of these numbers to help with planning which monsters to feed first and make 100% happy first, as well as plan frequency of shard collection. The numbers below are as follows:
Rate | Rate of income (per hour) per bed at level 15 and at 100% happy |
Max | Maximum income per bed at level 15 |
Time | Time to maximum income at level 15 and at 100% happy (shown as Hours : Minutes : Seconds) |
It should be noted that Rate is halved and Time is doubled for 0% happy.

Upcoming Monsters[]
- Main article: Upcoming Features
It has yet to be confirmed if the Monsters on Ethereal Workshop will get any Rare or Epic variants, though the presence of Rarethereals and Epic Ethereals on other islands would make it more likely. At the same time though, Ethereal Workshop’s mechanics would make getting Rarethereals and Epic Ethereals on the Island really difficult.

Notes[]
- Ethereal Workshop may be the smallest Island in the game canonically, seeing as it's already inside a bigger Colossal itself. However, the exact scale of things in the Pocket Dimension works differently from the main dimension, so Ethereal Workshop could be the same size or even bigger than Ethereal Island canonically.
- This is similar to Seasonal Shanty, being inside of the Island rather than on top. However, the Shanty is not part of a Colossal and is instead an artificial structure, and not alive.
- However, if you count the number of tiles on every Island, Tribal Island is the smallest Island in the game.
- At launch, the Humble Hotel on this Island was impossible to use, as it only had 10 beds, which cannot even check in a single Monster on the Island. This was quickly fixed, and the Humble Hotel now has 40 beds.
- If the statement about the castle being at the maximum tier is correct then Ethereal Workshop is the first island to not have its castle reach the Paradise Castle upgrade.
- The back of the Ethereal Island Colossal's eyes can be seen, meaning that if Ethereal Island ever gets a Coloss-Eye, the sclera of its eyes will likely have that same hexagon pattern on them.
- The hexagon pattern could also be photoreceptor cells at the back of the eye, which are usually arranged in hexagons. This is further proved with the addition of the Photoreceptor Path, which has the same blue color and hexagon pattern, as well as mentioning it in its description.
- The Critters of this Island know as Meebs also serve as the main mechanic of the Island.
- Additionally, the Island Critters, the Meebs, represent all of the Ethereal elements through their designs, mostly with their color.
- The Ethereal Island/Workshop Colossal is also seen looking at the Meebs while they swim(?), fly(?) around the Island, maybe as their guardian or protector.
- Ethereal Workshop is:
- The first island to be inside a Colossal.
- The first island to not have any Single-Element and Double-Element Monsters and is the only Island that lacks Single-Element Monsters, unless you count the Meebs, which represent the 5 Ethereal elements when attuned.
- The first island to not be composed by Tom Meikle since Magical Sanctum.
- The first island since Celestial Island to be completely composed of island specific monsters.
- The first island in the main game to start out without any vocalists.
- The first island to have a Mini-Mine since Magical Sanctum back in April 2021.
- One of the five islands from the main game to not have a Seasonal Monster.
- The others being Tribal Island, Composer Island, Celestial Island, and Mythical Island.
- The second island to have all it's indigenous monsters not be available on any other island. The first being Celestial Island
- Almost every Monster on Ethereal Workshop has more than one track, with the only exceptions being Nitebear and Piplash. Most Monsters have two tracks, but Yooreek, Gaddzooks, and Pentumbra instead have three, and Teeter-Tauter, Rhysmuth, Oogiddy, and BeMeebEth have four.
- Gaddzooks originally only had two tracks, but after the release of Wave 2, which included Flasque, Nitebear, and Whaill, Gaddzooks gained its third (although labelled as its second) track, which had previously gone unused and was teased by Josh Harmon.
- Whaill also originally only had one track, but as of Wave 5, its second track has been added.
- Ethereal Workshop is the second Island in the game to be on top of, under, or inside another previously added Island. The first case of this was with Bone Island being under Fire Haven.
- When Ethereal Workshop was first released, it was tied with both Water Island and Earth Island as the Islands with the shortest song lengths. However, as of Wave 2, the Ethereal Workshop song has been extended, making it just a little bit longer. In Wave 5, it was extended again making its run time two minutes and four seconds. It was extended again in Wave 7, which makes its current run time 2 minutes and 31 seconds.
- In the "My Singing Monsters - 4.1 Update Showcase" livestream on the official My Singing Monsters YouTube channel, Monster-Handler Matt hinted at Galvana, the Celestial of Electricity, inhabiting the Workshop in the past to create Wubbox, before the Ethereal Island Colossal, Zarroë, took control of it instead.
- The Workshop is also the only Island concealed from the rest of the Monster World, even Ethereal Island, as confirmed in My Singing Monsters Live: February 2024, as it is likely because the Triple-Ethereals and beyond are incredibly unstable, and the potential imbalance they could create from being released from the security of the Workshop, or discovered by curious external Monsters, could wreak havoc and disrupt the peace that the Colossals worked vigorously to preserve.
- Before Wave 3, every single Monster on Ethereal Workshop faced to the left by default. Those who are facing to the right are Piplash, Vhenshun, and X'rt.
- While it may be expected that the Quads of the Ethereal elements would directly increase in instability as the elements they represent become more unstable, this is actually false. Vhenshun doesn't represent the Shadow Element, but rather the Mech Element. The released Shadow Boss is more unstable than Vhenshun.
- This may be based on the order the Ethereal elements released. The Mech Element and Reebro released earlier than the Shadow Element and Grumpyre, despite being the third Ethereal element.
- Additionally, if the Quads had been ordered in element instability alone, then the hypothetical Mech Quad (now Vhenshun) would have been without the Mech Element.
- As of Wave 6, all Ethereal Quads seem to have some kind of connection outside of Ethereal Workshop:
- Whaill's wails begin to expose the Rift.
- Vhenshun knows that it's inside Zarroë and is planning to escape the Workshop.
- Pentumbra imitates Jeeode's Ethereal Island track, and the residue on its limbs appears similar to the residue found on the Mirror Islands. Although, there are other possibile explanations for the former, such as the possibility of the Workshop monsters being able to hear Ethereal Island being played on the outside of the colossal.
- Rhysmuth’s Rhubix Cube reflects off the Disco Lights inside the Clubbox.
- Oogiddy was revealed outside of Ethereal Workshop.
- Every Quad except for Oogiddy can be synthesized using another Triple released in its same wave. Whaill can be synthesized by Nitebear, Vhenshun can be synthesized by Piplash, Pentumbra can be synthesized by X'rt, and Rhysmuth can be synthesized by Teeter-Tauter.
- In the Summersong 2024 trailer, the melody of “Down in the Workshop” can be heard, which is a reference to the fanmade song made by Ashvee, known online as “The Wild Guess”.
- As of Wave 7, every Monster plays in the final verse of the song.
- Ethereal Workshop is the second song to have a transition from the end of the song to the beginning of the song, the first being Gold Island.
- In the Play Your Part 2024 video, it is possible to hear once again the section of the song that was shown in the “It's All in Your Head” trailer, unused to this day.
- Due to a glitch, Feast-Ember and Playground decorations don't appear in the market of Ethereal Workshop, making them unavailable. This is odd considering the other seasonal decorations can be placed on Workshop just fine.
