| Keep exploring the multiverse The following page is about the Ethereal Monsters. For the Island, see Ethereal Island. |
Ethereal Monsters, or Ethereals for short, are a class of Monsters in My Singing Monsters. It is manifested in multiple Monsters across multiple Islands.
Unlike the Natural Monsters, they are very difficult to obtain and they have their own Islands where they can produce
Shards, which is a valuable currency that is used like
Coins. When Single-Element Ethereals are placed on a Natural Island, they produce
Coins.
The Ethereal Class can be split into two groups. Single and Double Element Ethereals are Stable Ethereals that can be bred and are mainly found on the Natural Islands and Ethereal Island. Triple, Quad, and Quint Element Ethereals are Unstable Ethereals that can not be bred, and are mainly found on Ethereal Workshop, where they are obtained through synthesis. Ethereals from both groups are also housed in the Ethereal Islets, where they are obtained through the Dish-Harmonizer.
There are five Ethereal Elements:

Obtaining[]
Breeding[]
On the Natural Islands, Single-Element Ethereal Monsters can be bred - each Island having its own Ethereal - but they cannot breed nor produce Shards while there, and will instead produce Coins. They can then be teleported to Ethereal Island after being fed to Level 15.
Each Single-Element Ethereal is bred by using a Quad-Element Monster and a Triple-Element Monster. There is roughly a 1% chance (5% chance in Ethereal Breeding Bonanzas) of success. More than 90% of the time, the breeding result will be a Triple-Element Monster of the same type as the parent.
Double-Element Ethereals are only breedable on Ethereal Island. Unlike breeding Double-Element Naturals from two Single-Element Naturals, breeding Double Element Ethereals is not guaranteed to work. Additionally, combining more than two Ethereal elements through breeding is impossible due to the Ethereal Elements being highly unstable in nature.
Single and Double-Element Ethereals can be teleported to The Colossingum at level 5 from any Island.
Non-Breeding Islands[]
Ways of obtaining Ethereal Monsters on other Islands vary greatly. More on Synthesizing and Dish-Harmonization can be found below. This section only covers the more miscellaneous ways.
| Island | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Teleport at Level 5. | |
| Teleport Single Element Ethereals at Level 15. | |
| Synthesize Ethereals from attuned Meebs. Meebkin can be found in the Synthesizer for free. | |
| Purchase the My Singing Monsters Composer app to obtain Ghazt and gain the ability to purchase more. | |
| Whaill can be found in the Egg Cup for free or teleported at Level 14. | |
| Vhenshun can be found in the Egg Cup for free or teleported at Level 14. | |
| Pentumbra can be found in the Egg Cup for free or teleported at Level 14. |
Attunement and Synthesis[]
On Ethereal Workshop, Triple, Quad, and Quint-Element Ethereals can be created using two special structures known as the Attunement Structure and the Synthesizer, as well as the aid of versatile Critters known as Meebs. Upgrading the Castle on Ethereal Workshop will increase the population of Meebs available for use in Attunement and Synthesis.
The Attunement Structure is used to attune Meebs to the five Ethereal Elements by communicating with the Mirror Timeline, requiring Shards to do so. Every day, the Attunement Structure will resonate with one of the Mirror Islands, requiring only 500 Shards and taking 5 hours per attuned Meeb. The two Mirror Islands next to it will each require 1,000 Shards and take 10 hours per attuned Meeb, and the two other Mirror Islands will require 5,000 Shards take 20 hours per attuned Meeb. The Attunement Structure's resonance changes every day, and the Attunement Structure cannot be upgraded.
Once enough Meebs have been attuned, an Ethereal can be synthesized. The synthesis process differs based on the number of Elements:
- To Synthesize a Triple-Element Ethereal Monster, 1 of each attuned Meeb of that Triple's elements is needed.
- To synthesize a Quad-Element Ethereal Monster, a Triple-Element Ethereal, 2 of each attuned Meeb of that Triple's Elements, and an additional 3 attuned Meebs that the Quad has that the Triple doesn't, is needed.
- To synthesize BeMeebEth, the only Quint-Element Ethereal, a Quad-Element Ethereal, 3 of each attuned Meeb of that Quad's Elements, and an additional 4 attuned Meebs that BeMeebEth has that the Quad doesn't, is needed.
If Synthesis is successful, the new Monster will appear as an Egg in the Synthesizer and once it is claimed, all of the Meebs used will return in their unattuned state. Additionally, if synthesis of BeMeebEth is successful, the Synthesizer will be on a cooldown period for 2 days to recover from the strain, during which another BeMeebEth cannot be synthesized, but Triple-Element or Quad-Element Ethereals can still be obtained in the meantime. If Synthesis of a Quad or Quint-Element Ethereal is unsuccessful, each of the Meebs used will be randomly and separately reattuned to a new Element or to their unattuned state. However, if Synthesis is successful, the Triple or Quad-Element Ethereal used in the process will disappear from the Island instead.
The Synthesizer cannot handle Ethereal Element combinations too unstable for its current level. Upgrading the Synthesizer will make it more stable, allowing for more unstable combinations of Elements to be synthesized. Additionally, the Synthesizer unlocks the ability to synthesize Quad-Element Ethereals upon being upgraded to the Refined Synthesizer, its first upgrade. The Synthesizer also unlocks the ability to synthesize Quint-Element Ethereals upon being upgraded to the Ultra-Mega-Super-Hyper-Refined Synthesizer, its final upgrade. It is impossible to synthesize Single-Element and Double-Element Ethereals, as they are stable enough to be bred on Ethereal Island.
Dish-Harmonization[]
On the Ethereal Islets, all Ethereals except BeMeebEth can be obtained through a unique structure called the Dish-Harmonizer. Each Islet is dedicated to one Ethereal Element, and only contains all Ethereals which have the Islet's main element, except for Quads other than the Boss of the main element. To start obtaining Monsters on an Islet, a Quad-Element Ethereal must be teleported to their respective Islet at level 14, or can be collected upon unlocking the Islet through a purchase with Shards. The Quad must then be Dish-Harmonized, causing it to be converted back into attuned Meebs which will recombine into two new Ethereals.

Rarethereals[]
Rarethereals are Rare variations of variations of Ethereal Monsters. They are the second rarest type of breedable Monster, and are only available for a limited time for breeding or be purchased on the market, and have high earning rates, making them extremely valuable to players.
Single-Element Rarethereals can be bred on the Natural Islands with the same combinations as their Common variants. Once a Rarethereal is owned, it can be teleported to Ethereal Island just like a Common Ethereal. This can be done regardless of breeding availability, unless if getting a duplicate is preferred, in which case this will depend on breeding availability. Alternatively, if a Common Ethereal Monster has already been teleported to Ethereal Island, it can be bred with any other Monster, preferable another Single-Elemental, for a chance of getting its Rare variant.
Double-Element Rarethereals, on the other hand, are exclusive to Ethereal Island. The same breeding combination as their Common variants can be used, or breed their Common variant with other Monsters for a chance of getting a Double Element Rarethereal.
Rarethereals on Ethereal Workshop are obtained through evolution by using the Rarefied Attunement Structure to tune up the Common Monsters' Elements. The Elements that are available to be tuned up changes each week.
Rarethereals on the Ethereal Islets can also be obtained through Dish-Harmonization. Just like the Natural Islands and Ethereal Island, they are only available during limited time promotions.

In addition to being available at some point of Anniversary Month, and various other Special Occasions, there are a few regular annually occurring breeding events with 2-3 Rarethereals being available for a weekend.
Epic Ethereals[]
Epic Ethereals are Epic variations of Ethereal Monsters. They are the rarest type of breedable Monster, and are only available for a limited time for breeding or purchased on the market , and have high earning rates, making them extremely valuable to players.
Like their Common and Rare variants, Single-Element Epic Ethereals can be bred on the Natural Islands. Once one is owned, it can be teleported to Ethereal Island just like a Common Ethereal. This can be done regardless of breeding availability, unless if getting a duplicate is preferred, in which case this will depend on breeding availability. Like Rarethereals, they can also be bred on Ethereal Island instead of being teleported, though unlike Rarethereals they require unique breeding combinations.
Double-Element Epic Ethereals are exclusive to Ethereal Island, meaning they can only be bred there.

Recurring Breeding Events[]
While Epic Ethereals have less common Breeding Events, as the only appearance of one was Epic Ghazt in the "Burds of a Further" sale, and it is assumed that the availability was only due to the reveal which had happened recently. There was also one on April 30th, 2021, in the "Catch up Crew" sale, in an “In Full Bloom” promotion in July, and in an “Ether Way” promotion during Anniversary Month. All Epic Ethereals are available for set periods of time during Anniversary Month (Island Spotlights, Grand Finale), Life-Formula (Ether Way), and Festival of Yay (The More The Merrier). Single-Element Epic Ethereals are available in their Natural Island's Seasonal Event. Some Epics become available in Spooktacle for the "Scared Silly" promotion.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins/Shards earned per minute/hour, as well as the maximum Coins/Shards earned.

Notes[]
Diagram of shard-to-bed ratio.
- It is more efficient to have many Single-Element Ethereal Monsters if planning to have a higher Shard-to-bed ratio.
- Unique amongst classifications of Monsters, Rare Ethereals have been canonically referred to as Rarethereals.
- After all Rarethereals were released, the Monster-Handlers posted a crossword puzzle to celebrate. See Rarethereal Research Crossword for the puzzle and its solution (hidden by default).
- The Ethereal class is the only class in the game where Triple-Element Monsters can take less time to be created (whether via breeding or synthesis) than Double-Element Monsters, specifically, Double-Element Ethereals take 42 hours to breed/incubate, whereas Triple-Element Ethereals take 30 hours instead when synthesis has become successful.
- The Ethereal Islets do not follow this.
- The monsters from Ethereal Workshop are (for now) the only Ethereals that are not on The Colossingum. It is unlikely that they will be added in a later update, as monsters outside of Ethereal Workshop do not know about it (Ethereal Workshop), according to the Monstrochondrial Path's bio.
- Ethereal Monsters were the third Monster class from My Singing Monsters: Composer to not be on Composer Island, with the first one being Rares, the second one being Dipsters, and the fourth one being Seasonals. Soonly, Ghazt was possible to be obtained on Composer Island after.
- The Ethereal Quads share their representative elements with the Celestials. For example, Whaill and Plixie represent the Plasma Element, Pentumbra and Loodvigg represent the Shadow Element, Vhenshun and Vhamp represent the Mech Element, Rhysmuth and Syncopite represent the Crystal Element, and Oogiddy and Scaratar represent the Poison Element.
- Similar to the Natural Quad Monsters, the Ethereal Quads are 3x3 tiles in size.
- No Ethereal Monster is 1x1 tiles in size.
- The Ethereal class currently has taken the longest of any monster class in the entire franchise to be fully completed, with the time between Ghazt and BeMeebEth being 4,100 days.
- If only counting the completion times of classes within the main game and not Dawn of Fire, the Ethereal class comes in second place, with the Natural Class taking 4,271 days to be fully completed from the game's release to the release of Mimic.
- The number of hours it takes for Ethereals to incubate on the Ethereal Islets are multiples of 10, specifically multiplied by the number of elements.
- Single-Element Ethereals retain their times from Ethereal Island, being 10 hours.
- Double-Element Ethereals' incubation times are drastically decreased from 1 day and 18 hours (42 hours) to 20 hours, likely to not make them as time-consuming as a Quad-Element Ethereal.
- Triple-Element Ethereals retain their synthesis times from Ethereal Workshop, being 1 day and 6 hours (30 hours).
- Quad-Element Ethereals' incubation times are ever-so-slightly shorter than their synthesis times from Ethereal Workshop, going from from 1 day and 18 hours (42 hours) to 1 day and 16 hours (40 hours).
- The Primordial Monsters would essentially continue this pattern, since they take 2 days and 2 hours (50 hours) to incubate, 10 hours longer than a Quad-Element Ethereal.
- At some unknown update, the double Ethereal sell prices were raised from 225 to 600.
