“	The Epic Phangler is one big exercise in contradictions. It has a predilection for elocution (no, not electrocution, ELOCUTION, they're different), and has converted one of its escae into a pop filter-like organ. That would be helpful... if Phanglers ever uttered plosives as part of their performance, but they only ever use nasal syllables! The Double-Element Fire Monster has all the makings of a benthic beast, lurking deep near the bottom of the living ocean - but like its sun-worshipping Rare cousin, it prefers to stay near the water's surface in the epipelagic zone. Finally, you'd think the Monster's eye placement and number would correlate with advanced eyesight - but they are actually a limiting factor in its ability to see, confirming the Epic Phangler to only be able to perceive violet light (so they can identify each other). Such an odd Monster!	”

Description

Epic Phangler is a Double-Element Epic Fire Monster that is first unlocked on either Fire Oasis, Psychic Island, or Bone Island. It was added alongside Mimic, Epic Spurrit, and Wubbox on Fire Oasis on May 15th, 2024, during version 4.3.0. As an Epic Monster, it is only available at select times. When available, it is best obtained through breeding, with the combination varying from Island to Island. By default, its breeding time is 23 hours long. Although an Epic Monster, Epic Phangler still does not have high Coin production. Also note, that unlike their Common and Rare variants, Epic Monsters cannot breed.

On Amber Island, Epic Phangler can only be obtained by successfully evolving a Phangler or a Rare Phangler that is at least level 4 via the enhanced Crucible. Its successful evolution time is 23 hours long.

Epic Phangler, like all Epic Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and/or buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

• All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
• All Monsters with a specific element
• All Monsters with a specific theme
• A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters

In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.

Likes

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree or a Primordial Monster of the same rarity on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Epic Phangler:

Note: Epic Phangler only likes Bowhead on Amber Island, and not on Psychic Island. Also, on Amber Island, all of Epic Phangler's likes are only obtainable for a limited time. Amber Vessels must be revitalized before they count towards Epic Phangler's happiness.

Earning Rate and Maximum Income

Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Relics per month (28 days) and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's level also increases this limit.

Note: Relic rates below level 4 are not possible in-game.

Feeding Monsters

Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

Egg Consumption

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Epic Wublins can be used to "dispose of" Epic Phangler eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare and Epic Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Epic Wublins; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Epic Phangler eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Epic Wublins have no time limit, and their egg inventories cannot be reset.

Notes

• Epic Phangler is the last Epic Fire Monster to:
  • Be a Double-Elemental Monster.
  • Be on Fire Oasis.
  • Have the Water Element (not counting the Fire Expansion Monsters).
• A group of Epic Phanglers is called an academy.
  • This probably derives from the fact that groups of fish are called schools, as schools and academies are both educational institutions.
  • It's safe to assume that Common Phanglers are also called this, as collective nouns are shared across Commons, Rares, and Epics.
• There is a slight mistake in the bio. "Plosives" and "Nasals" are the names of groups of phonemes - the individual sounds that make up a syllable - and not syllables.
