“ | Epics are the ultimate forms of your favorite Monsters. Rarer than Rares, they have unique Breeding Combinations per Island, generate even more Currency, and cannot breed. All of these traits come together to create the most impressive and coveted creatures in the Monster World. | ” |
— In-game description of Epics |
Epic Monsters are a class of Monsters even more elusive than Rare Monsters. They were added to the game on September 5th, 2018. Epics share the same song as their Common and Rare counterparts, with the exception of Epic Wubbox. Most Epics also share the same animations, but Epic Seasonals and Mythicals have their own unique animations. Unlike Rares, Epics are incapable of breeding, and will not show up in the list of possible "parents" in a Breeding Structure. They also are not available to purchase in the StarShop.
Availability[]
- For a complete list of when Epics have been available, see Breeding Availability#Epic Monsters
Epic Monsters, similar to their Rare counterparts are only available for breeding and buying at select times. So far they have each been available for a week each after their official reveal, and have been re-released during other promotional events.
Breeding[]
- For a list of breeding combinations, see: Epic Breeding Combinations
Obtaining Epics is quite different from Rare Monsters. Each Epic will have its own unique Breeding combination per Island. Rare Monsters are not required to breed or unlock an Epic Monster[1], so a player can for example, obtain an Epic Noggin before getting a Rare Noggin.
Breeding Patterns[]
Epic Monsters follow a set pattern for their breeding combination. Breeding patterns for different kinds of Monsters is listed below.
- For Single-element Naturals on Natural Islands, the combination consists of the Quad-element, and a Double-element that shares the element of the Monster. For example, Epic Potbelly's combo on Water Island is Shellbeat and Dandidoo . Epic Potbelly and Dandidoo share the element of Plant.
- On Fire Islands, Natural singles have a combination of a Quad-element and the non-Fire double-element that lacks the element of the Monster. For example, Epic Mammott's combo on Fire Oasis is Sneyser and Quibble . Epic Mammott and Quibble do not share any elements.
- On Magical Islands, Natural singles have a combination of a Quad-element and a non-Magical double-element that lacks the element of the Monster. For example, Epic Mammott's combo on Light Island is Blow't and Flowah . Epic Mammott and Flowah do not share any elements.
- Epic Kayna on Fire Islands follows a similar pattern to Single-element Naturals on Natural islands. The combination consists of a Quad and a double-element with Fire.
- Epic Kayna on Magical Islands has a combination of the Quad-element with the Natural double. For Example, Epic Kayna's combo on Bone Island is Plinkajou and Fwog . Fwog is the only Natural double on Bone Island.
- For all other Natural or Fire Monsters, the combination always will be a triple-element and a double-element. The Monsters will also always include all four elements of the island. For example, Bowgart and Maw would not be a valid combination for an Epic, since it only consists of three unique elements. Epic Oaktopus's combo of Bowgart and Shrubb has all four elements on Plant Island.
- So far, Epic Fire Triples on Magical Islands each have a Magical triple-element in their breeding combinations.
- Epic Ethereals also follow this pattern on Natural Islands.
- On Natural Islands, Fire Islands, and Magical Islands, Epic Seasonals follow the pattern of a Quad-element and a double-element. So far no double elements have been repeated for two Seasonals, making it likely that the pattern is that a new double has to be used. So far these Monsters have been used: Drumpler, Pango, Quibble, Oaktopus, Fwog, Dandidoo, Flowah, Boskus, Hawlo, Roarick, HippityHop and Glowl.
- On Ethereal Island, the combination for single-element Epic Ethereals always consists of two Monsters that lack the Epic's element. For example, the combination for Epic Reebro is Sox and Kazilleon . Neither of these two Monsters have Reebro's Mech element.
- For Double-Element Epic Ethereals, the combination used to consist of two double-element Monsters that share one element with the Epic, but do not share any elements with each other. For example, the combination for Epic Whisp is Nebulob and Kazilleon . Each 'parent' Monster has one element from Epic Whisp and they do not share any elements with each other. However, since Epic Sox, the breeding patterns for the remaining Epic Ethereals have only one Ethereal monster that shares one of the elements in the monster. While Epic Sox brought back the initial pattern, the remaining Epics have only had one monster share the element and will most likely be the case for the last 3 epic Ethereals. This is most likely the case due to the Epic single element Ethereals taking away the combinations that would have most likely been used for the double element Epic Ethereal.
- On Seasonal Shanty, the breeding combination for Epic Core Seasonals consists of the 2 Core Seasonals that celebrate their Seasonal Event the farthest away from the Seasonal Event of the Epic. For example, the Combination for Epic Punkleton is Schmoochle and Blabbit. Following the timeline of Eggs-Travaganza, SummerSong, Spooktacle, Festival of Yay, and Season of Love; the two furthest away from Spooktacle are Eggs-Travaganza and Season of Love, which are the Seasonal Events for Blabbit and Schmoochle respectively.
- On Seasonal Shanty, Epic Auxiliary Seasonals do not follow a discernible pattern yet. However, they all at least use two other Auxiliary Seasonals in their breeding combinations. However, no Auxiliary Seasonal is used in more than two combinations.
- On Shugabush Island, there is no pattern for Epic Monsters, since Shugabush must be present in every combination. However, each Epic does have a unique combination, with the exception of Epic Viveine and Epic Quibble.
- On Natural (and later Fire) Islands, Epic Mythicals follow the pattern of a Quad-element and a double-element.
- On Mythical Island, there is no pattern for Epic Mythicals, since Cataliszt must be present in every combination. However, each Epic does have a unique combination and one of its Likes being the corresponding Dreamythical from the target Mythical (besides Cataliszt) that would've been used for breeding.
Breeding Times[]
Besides Epic Seasonals and Epic Mythicals, all Epic Natural and Fire Monsters have a well-rounded breeding time of a unique odd numbered amount of hours per amount of elements. Additionally, Epic Single Element Monsters have consecutive odd numbered breeding times based on the order of their appearance.
Epic Ethereal Monsters, however have a well-rounded breeding time of a unique even numbered amount of hours. Plus, in Ethereal Island, all Epic Single-Element Ethereal Monsters' breeding times take only 36% of the time required to be bred or incubated than that of the Natural Islands.
Monsters[]
Upcoming Epics[]
There are Epic forms for Naturals, Fire Monsters, Wubbox, Ethereals, and Seasonals. It is unknown if Wublins will get Epic forms, but since they have Rare forms, it is very likely. Additionally, a slot for Epics is included in Wublin Island's Book of Monsters.
It is likely that Wubbox will get additional epic forms on Ethereal Island and Wublin Island since those islands all have common variants.
Of the confirmed Monsters, the following 20 Epic Monsters will be released in the future: 1 Natural Monster, 13 Fire Monsters, 2 Ethereals, and 4 Mythicals. Based on current patterns, new Epic (or Rare) Fire Monsters will release every Month with each Amber Island wave.
Magical Nexus used to have an Epic Monsters page in its Book of Monsters that was empty upon release, but it was removed in an unknown update. In the Version 4.2 Update Showcase, it was confirmed that Epic variants of the Magicals will eventually come.

Feeding Monsters[]
- Main article: Feeding
Each monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches its next level. Increasing the monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned. The Food for each level is the same for each Epic Monster as it is for their Common counterpart, e.g. Epic Noggin food per level is the same as the Common Noggin at the same level. However, this is not true with the Epic Seasonals or the Epic Wubbox, which require more food than their Common and Rare counterparts.
History[]
[]
Epic Monsters were first teased on September 4th, 2018 on the My Singing Monsters account's Twitter and Facebook, with a post saying: "Noggin was scrolling through our feed and discovered something shocking! Read the first word from each of our tweets since August 20th to find out what has Noggin so rattled." When fans took the first words of each post, then scrambled the words around, they got: "Scaratar was just the beginning, anniversary month is about to get a little bit more EPIC."
From August 30th to September 3rd, 2018, five different videos, with jumbled titles and descriptions were uploaded the official YouTube channel, each one being pieces of one big recording. Each one featured a mysterious voice commentating about the Monster World.
Eventually, on September 4th, 2018 a video titled "A Recorded Interview With Dr. Wardin E. Spurrit" was posted on Youtube. The video is a cleaner version of all the previous videos combined. In it, the voice now known as Dr. Wardin E. Spurrit talks about some new, unspecified monsters. At the end of the video, a red eye with black eyelids opens up and looks at the viewer. This eye would later be identified as Epic Noggin.

Notes[]
- Epic Monsters, along with Rare Monsters are the only two kinds of Monster Subspecies so far.
- Epics are more like evolutions than a true subspecies, as stated in many of their bios, even though they are still considered otherwise.
- Some Epics also bear more of a resemblance to their Common forms than their Rare forms, though a majority of them (particularly Epic Whisp and Epic Maw) are derivatives of their Rare Forms. While a few others are so fundamentally changed (like Epic Tweedle, Epic Quibble, and Epic Ghazt) that the only connections are their names, shapes, and lore description.
- Design-wise, Epic Monsters contrast Rare Monsters in how they're based on their Common forms. While Rare Monsters are meant to be a natural step-up with some added/changed details, Epic Monsters are notably more garish, out-there, and/or odd by comparison.
- For example, while Rare Entbrat is meant to represent a more stylish and covered Entbrat, Epic Entbrat's near-lack of leaves plus skin colors give the impression of an unpleasant-looking naked Entbrat. For another example, Rare Whisp's colors and limbs show a change from the Whisp's norm while Epic Whisp's drearier looks coupled with its wings and tendril hair and legs make it look unnatural compared to the already ghastly Whisp.
- Epic Carillong's bio states that the yellow colour associated with Epic Monsters is because of said monster.
- As of Version 3.3.0, the sell prices for Epic Monsters are now made to be much higher than their Common and Rare counterparts.
- Unlike Rare Monsters, who were first released in early October (of 2014), Epic Monsters were released at the beginning of Anniversary Month (of 2018).
- Epic Noggin and Epic Furcorn were the first Epics ever. This is likely referencing how Rare Furcorn was the first Natural Rare, while Rare Noggin was the last.
- All of the Epics from Tweedle to Mammott were exclusively revealed by fans of the game, per request of Big Blue Bubble.
- Epic Seasonals and Mythicals have their own unique idle & singing animations, unlike the Common and Rare forms of said classes. They are the only variants with this quirk, excluding the Wubbox.
- Epic Drumpler was the last Natural Epic to be released. This might change if Mimic gets an Epic variant.
- As of now, neither Epic Magicals, nor Epic Wublins have been confirmed to exist.
- However, as Epic Carillong is on Magical Sanctum, it is unlikely that Epic Carillong will stay as the only Epic Monster on Magical Sanctum forever, so Epic Magicals may release at some point in the future.
- The same could also apply with Epic Monculus on Wublin Island in the future.
- However, as Epic Carillong is on Magical Sanctum, it is unlikely that Epic Carillong will stay as the only Epic Monster on Magical Sanctum forever, so Epic Magicals may release at some point in the future.
- Epic Boodoo is the only Epic to share its breeding time with its common counterpart.
- It is also the only Epic Monster to share its breeding time with the monsters used to breed it.
- It is currently unknown how Fire Expansion Epics will be obtained on their respective Islands (outside of Amber Island). The only ways that could feasibly make sense would be Diamonds or Coins, but the Diamond option would theoretically require over 2,000 diamonds just for one Monster, and the Coin option would be incredibly easy when Epics are supposed to be really hard.
- A strong possibility is breeding, as Epics have unique breeding combinations unlike their Common and Rare forms. They may also use an alternative currency, such as keys, to be obtained.
