Gameplay[]

Plot[]

The protagonist, Agent ██████, starts his day by the ring of an alarm clock and leaves home to work at the Department of Monstrous Anomalies. Selecting the "Hit Snooze" button leads to the Bad Ending, whereas selecting the "wake up" button continues the storyline. On the way, he bumps into Monster-Handler Tyson who tells the agent about some discoveries the Monster-Handlers have made that are of "colossal proportions" which is quickly dismissed by the agent who says he is running late to work. After hours of with Torus analysis, he takes a break to get lunch. Running late and feeling hungry, he notices an elevator away from the other crowd of agents waiting to get down to the canteen, numbered with the Monstrous number 0. This prompts the player to choose between the options to "Take the elevator" or to "Wait with other Agents". Choosing the latter option causes the agent to receive lunch and activate the Good Ending. Choosing the former option causes the agent to enter the elevator and descend to a dark abandoned replica of the Analyst level he works on.

Mirror Analyst level[]

The player can choose to first explore three different sections of the floor; the workstations, the storage cabinets, and the containment rooms. Each of these options prompt the reader to either "Look around" or "Explore elsewhere" after a short pieces of narration.

Workstations[]

When looking around the storage cabinets, the agent finds a snowball that grips the agent with a "wave of child-like wonder" upon attempt to lift it up. The agent cannot lift the snowball, but pushes it, causing it to roll and absorb everything in its path while growing in size, before a flying barrel with the appearance of a nuclear weapon zooms past. After this, the player can either go to the storage cabinets or to the containment rooms.

Storage cabinets[]

While looking around the storage cabinets, the player can choose to either clean the open cabinets on the walls, or tidy up the scattered reports along the floor. While cleaning the cabinets, the agent finds something with the appearance of purple gelatin with orange tentacles sticking out of it. While questioning what it is, he seems to say the name of the item fluently, with the name of the item being redacted in the dialogue box. After, the player can then decide to go to either the workstations or to the containment rooms.

Containment rooms[]

The agent is greeted with a long hallway with containment rooms along it. A containment cell can be heard producing noise while locked, and the storage chamber of a Monster Anomaly is wide open. The player can choose to either investigate the loud sounds or check on the open room. Choosing to go to the locked cell first will result in the agent failing to guess the password, forcing the player to return to the hallway and going to the open storage chamber.

Inside the open room, a water bottle labelled MA0997 is seen which the player can either drink or leave. When leaving the water bottle be, the agent wanders around the level. The agent seems to lose consciousness as the game resets to the room where he was doing Torus analysis while losing track of time, sending them back to where they were before, with the agent seemingly losing memory of the elevator he had entered beforehand.

When drinking the water, dialogue appears saying "HUZZAH!" under the name of MA431X. The monster anomaly continues saying "HUZZAH!" to the agent, with his speech gradually turning into huzzahs, attuning with the speech of the monster anomaly. After MA431X "HUZZAH!" for a last time, the agent responds with "HUZZAH?". The narrator then says, "We are one." The screen fades to black then back to the open room as the agent wakes up. The agent then walks to the locked containment cell, entering the password "HUZZAH" and causing the door to open.

A computer monitor sits a a desk inside the room while the music inside the room becomes clear. The player is given options to open icons on the desktop named '████████ GOLD ████', 'Wub.exe' and '███████ Avatar ███████'. When opening the two icons with redacted names, an error saying "WUBBABUNGA" appears before a welcome message from "WubNet", prompting the agent to enter a password. When opening Wub.exe, it goes straight to the WubNet password prompt. The three passwords "HUZZAH", "WUBNET", and "Where's My Lunch?" appear for the reader to select, which are all incorrect passwords. When selecting the other two icons, the WUBBABUNGA error prompts the agent to enter that as a password, with the password "WUBBABUNGA" appearing instead of "Where's My Lunch?". When entering the password WUBBABUNGA, it is described that the digital world is washing over the agent, experiencing a state of euphoria. Dialogue titled with the name "Wub Daemon" appears with the text "████████ ███ ███████████ ^_~ ." After this, the agent loses consciousness and the game ends, obtaining the True Ending. A DOMA report on a monster anomaly MA00653 is shown, which is the elevator the agent had entered. The symbol next to the elevator is said to have changed, and the addendum of the report notes that Agent REDACTED was absent from work since a date which has been redacted. An image of the same elevator the agent entered shows the symbol being changed, with an end screen signalling the True Final Ending.

Notes[]

  • MA431X seems to be Spurrit, judging from the anomaly's appearance and its repetition of the sound "HUZZAH!"
  • The three desktop icons seen on the monitor in the locked containment cell ('████████ GOLD ████', 'Wub.exe' and '███████ Avatar ███████') can be seen on Bill's monitor in the Anniversary Month 2021 trailer. The full names of the redacted icons are 'PROJECT: GOLD RUSH' and 'Monster Avatar Machine'
    • Monster Avatar Machine is a website made by the Monster-Handlers for users to create their own Monster-Handler styled avatars.
  • The song Agent ██████ seems to remember is probably Fire Haven as during his strange episodes, the background track is always a remix of Fire Haven.
