My Singing Monsters

Timid in the light, Dipsters make their homes underground. The muffled Monster music from above gives Dipsters the courage to rise up and join in the harmonious melody!...although it may only be one note at a time.
Dipsters are resourceful creatures, and collect natural materials to disguise the entrances to their tunnels. No one knows how far down a Dipster hole goes.
Monster Bio

Description[]

The Dipsters are a set of seven Monsters that each only play typically one note of the musical scale, hence the names Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Ti. All of these seven Monsters were released in Version 1.4.2. They pop up from the ground each time they sing a note and every note is a "dip," singing a certain pitch depending on what their name is. They also have different natural items on their heads.

These Monsters are all unlocked at Level 10.

Song[]

Voice actor: Dave Kerr

All the Dipsters sing "dip," but with differing pitches depending on which Dipster they are. Do typically sings at the root (first note) of the scale, with Re typically singing the second note of the scale, Mi the third note, and so on for Fa, Sol, La, and Ti. The Dipsters behave like handbells, where one sings each note, each Dipster being a different bell.

Notes on Different Islands[]

The Dipsters do not sing the same notes on every island. Instead, they follow their respective island's key and sing their respective pitch associated with their note type.

Statistics[]

Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]

Earning rate is in Coins per minute or Shards per hour and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.

Element[]

The Dipster Element (Dipster Element) is an element only used by the Dipsters. It looks like a yellow flower planted in fresh soil, or what’s on top of Ti’s head. It cannot be used in breeding.

Version History[]

The Dipsters were originally only available on the five Natural Islands, but they have since been made available on 13 islands.

Full Bodies[]

Starting on September 15th, 2021, the My Singing Monsters Instagram, and later Twitter, social media accounts started posting images of what the Dipsters purportedly look like underneath the surface. It's unknown whether these are officially canon. In the Handler Hangout for October 28th, 2021, Monster-Handler Matt stated:

The Monster-biologist [..] assured us that they are about 87% confident that 60% of the Dipsters are about 32% accurate
Do (Full Body)

Do's Anatomy, September 15th, 2021

Not much is known about the Dipsters from the neck down, but we’ve finally managed to dig up the first recorded data of their full anatomy! Safe to say it’s not what ANYONE was expecting… What were you expecting anyways? 🕳️🐙

Do is octopus-like.

Re

Re's full body

Re's Anatomy, September 22nd, 2021

Some of you may have stumbled upon the first known images of the Dipster, Do's full anatomy last week on our Instagram page! 🕳️

We're happy to share with you the Monsterbiologist's latest findings! 👀 I wonder what the rest of the Dipsters look like underground... 😅

Re is tiger-like.

Mi

Mi's Full Body

Mi's Anatomy, September 29th, 2021

We're happy to report more projected images of the Dipster anatomy from our resident Monsterbiologist!

Turns out Mi is actually short for Multitasking individual! 😅 What do you think?

Mi is human-like, with eyes on its torso.

Fa

Fa's full body

Fa's Anatomy, October 6th, 2021

We’ve received more projected images of the Dipster anatomy! I’m going to need to see this one for myself to believe it… 🕳️👀

What is this torso even made of?! Can anyone offer some insight here? Mom come pick me up, I'm scared.

Fa is robot-like.

Sol

Sol's Full Body

Sol's Anatomy, October 13th, 2021

We've now almost caught a glimpse at every Dipster's full underground anatomy, and this week, the Monsterbiologist gives us a look at Sol!

Looks like we found the runt of the litter! Honestly, this is what I imagined all Dipsters to look like originally. What do you guys think?

Sol is short. If its description that all of the Dipsters' full bodies were originally supposed to look like that is true, Sol's full body is the most normal looking out of all of them.

La

La's Full Body

La's Anatomy, October 20th, 2021

The Monsterbiologist keeps sending us these anatomies, and honestly I don't even know what to say about this one - but I'll take a... stab... at it. 😳

The medieval legend says, the chosen one who lifts and wields the mighty Sword of La, shall live a life of unmatched luxury. 👑

La is sword-like.

Ti's Anatomy, October 27th, 2021

They've done it! The Monsterbiologist has finally recorded their last projected image of Dipster anatomy! 🕳️

Presenting, Ti! 💪

Now that we've seen all of the Dipsters, how do you think they all get together for a family picture? 📸👨‍👩‍👦

Notes

  • This image was modeled after Michelango's David.
  • This particular social media post was deleted later on October 27th, 2021, likely because of the phallic appearance of the key.

Dipsters with Diglett

Image of Diglett with the Dipsters from an official Twitter post. Note that this is not an official Pokemon post (?)

  • The name Dipster is a portmanteau of Dip (what they sing) and Monster. The Dipsters' names are the tonic sol-fa and Solfège (except the extra Do at the end) names of the notes in a major scale: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Ti.
  • The Dipsters and Keys were unlocked at Level 8 when they were originally released. Their unlock level was changed to Level 10 in the 2.0.4 update, which added the Werdos, who are unlocked at Level 8 as well.
  • The Dipsters used to have no element, but they were given one (the Element of "Dipster") in the My Singing Monsters Official Guide, released in June 2017. The element was eventually made visible in the game.
  • The Dipsters, the Wublins, and the Celestials are the only Monsters that do not require beds.
    • Of these, the Dipsters are the only ones that can be obtained on Islands that utilize beds (not counting Glowbes, which are only technically considered monsters on Composer Island).
  • The main difference between the properties of Dipsters and those of other Monsters is that up to ten of a certain type of Dipster can be placed on an island (almost unlimited for most Monsters, minus bed consumption).
  • The Dipsters share a striking resemblance to the Pokémon Diglett, which the official My Singing Monsters Twitter account has noted with this tweet.
  • Out of all Monsters, the Dipsters appear on the most islands, with thirteen islands overall.
  • The Dipsters are the only Monsters you can buy with Keys and nothing else.
  • The Dipsters take as much feeding as Natural Quad-Element Monsters.
  • The Dipsters are the only Monster class to not have any Monster Likes. All four of their Likes are Decorations.
  • All seven Dipsters share the same earning rate and maximum income at each level and at a certain Happiness.
  • On Ethereal Island, the Dipsters' earning rate and maximum income increment increase per level are mathematically different. It always increases by 20% of its starting statistics, as opposed to increasing at the same rate as all the other Monsters do.
  • An explanation as to why the Dipsters take up no Beds could be because they live underground.
  • Originally, when muted Dipsters hid in the ground; no "ZZZ's" came out. Now, Z rest signs float out of their holes when muted just like every other Monster in the game.
  • To have one of each Dipster on each of the five Natural Islands (outside of Hole-In-One promotions), you would need 105Keys.
  • 1,260 Dipsters is the absolute maximum number of Dipsters you can have per account, because you can only have 10 of each Dipster per Island. To get 1,260 Dipsters, you would need 4,762Keys (assuming the Dipsters are not bought on sale).
  • When any Dipster pops out of the ground, little dirt particles can be seen flying out from the hole.
  • The Dipsters are one of 5 classes with no Celestials associated with their Elements, with the others being Legendary, Mythical, Magical, and Seasonal.
  • Since “Do“ (which plays the note C) appears twice on the musical scale of 8 notes (the first and last note), the Dipsters' order ends with Ti.
  • The Dipsters are the only 1x1 Monsters on Fire Oasis and Ethereal Island (excluding the Glowbes).
  • The lore reason why the Dipsters need Keys to be bought is to unlock "tiny doors in the Dipsters' tunnel system." Link here.
    • The same post almost shows Ti's legs, but they are covered by the MSM logo.
  • If you tap a Dipster within its Info page, it will pop out of its hole and hide back.
  • When the Dipsters were first released on Fire Haven in Version 2.3.4, they were bugged and would immediately pop up and in without an animation, with their signature "dip" being cut short. This was fixed a week later.
  • There are a few instances where the Dipsters do not pop up from the ground when they are supposed to, or they play the wrong note (Cold Island is a major exception of the latter).
    • On Water Island, before the last verse, Ti plays a G with Sol, who plays an F#; Ti is presumably supposed to stay silent, due to the musical dissonance. Ti also does not pop out of the ground there.
    • On Earth Island, in the first verse, Ti does not pop out of its hole when it is supposed to.
    • On Ethereal Island, whenever Fa plays its high note, it does not pop out of the ground, and it plays a D# instead of an E (E is the fourth note in the B Mixolydian scale; Fa plays the third note instead of the fourth).
  • Despite Light Island's key being B♭ Major, the Dipsters there are arranged in the D Phrygian scale.
  • When Version 3.0.4 released, there was a bug that let you use the Dipsters in the Breeding Structure. Trying to breed anything with a Dipster produced no result.
  • The first letter of each Dipster is the same as the first letter of the flower in their respective Eggs-Travaganza costumes.
  • Unless you count Werdos as a separate class from the Shugafam, Dipsters are the only class in the game that does not have a home Island.
  • Goals for placing each of the Dipsters were added when the Dipsters were added to Bone Island. They simply say "Buy and place a [name of Dipster] Dipster."
  • The inspiration of creating the Dipsters was from Whack-A-Mole, an arcade game.
    • Additionally, in My Singing Monsters Playground, there's a mini-game where whacking Dipsters is the goal of the game.
  • Due to not occupying any Beds, it is possible to place up to 70 Dipsters inside of the Hotel on an Island.
  • The names Cresendip and Acendip are based on the music terms crescendo and ascension respectively.
  • The Dipsters in order of size (smallest to largest) are: Ti, Do, Sol, La, Mi, Fa, and Re.
  • All the monsters that like one of the Dipsters are Epic Monsters.
  • The Dipsters, along with certain Rare Natural Monsters, are the only Monsters to exist in My Singing Monsters: Composer and not on the Colossingum.
  • As of Version 4.1.1, Mi harmonizes with Sol more on Faerie Island.
  • As of Version 4.1.3, the Dipsters are the only Monsters that can be found on multiple Pocket Dimension Islands.
  • The Dipsters have only received their costumes from the 5 Core Seasonal Events.
