Dave Kerr, (born May 3rd,[1]1975) also known as Monster-Handler Dave, was a Monster-Handler that worked as the lead composer, and a voice actor at Big Blue Bubble from February 2009 to November 2018. He was also the designer and producer of My Singing Monsters, and is credited for coming up with the game's concept. Return to Big Blue Bubble[]

Sometime around August 2023, he and Maggie returned to Big Blue Bubble to record some more Monster voices for them. This included some voices for Mimic, the young Core Seasonals in Dawn of Fire, some voices for Ethereal Workshop, and likely voices for unreleased songs. Dave and Maggie have revealed that they don't know what will be done with the remaining voices they've recorded, and they didn't know that some recordings were going to be used for Ethereal Workshop.

Composing[]

Dave Kerr was the lead composer for Islands released between 2012 and 2019. He has said that the Natural Islands, Fire Haven, and Gold Island all had a tempo of 140 bpm so dubstep could be added later, in the form of Wubbox.

Notes[]

  • Before working at Big Blue Bubble, Dave Kerr was a sound designer and composer at DICE. With DICE, he worked on several games, including the first three games in the Battlefield series: Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, and Battlefield 2.[2] He also made the music for the 2002 videogame "Shrek Extra Large".
  • Dave confirmed that the first Behind the Scenes video was just a satire video, like with the monsters not actually being motion captured and Jamie lip syncing to Furcorn's part.
  • During the development of My Muppets Show, Dave got to meet the voice actors of the Muppets in person to record them.
  • Dave and Maggie co-wrote a book called Tales of Thrum: The Terrible Dischord, which released in 2023.
  • Dave composed most of his songs in his basement.
  • Dave likes to drink carbonated watermelon flavored Kool-Aid.
  • Up until the addition of Monculus, he and Maggie were the only ones to voice act on Wublin Island.
  • Dave's favorite Monster is Furcorn, coincidentally also being voiced by himself.
  • He technically voices 2 of the mascots, as, besides Furcorn, he also voices Mammott on some islands along with Matt.[3]
  • Dave is the son of James B. Kerr, one of the inventors of the UV index.[4]
  • Dave's favorite island is Plant Island, as it was the first island song he composed and is the most "classic" in his opinion.
  • At the start of 2025, Dave returned to YouTube to make a new series called “Lost Melodies” where he showcased one of his old songs he made 20 years ago.
    • With this, he asked viewers to design monsters for the sounds, and eventually, the best ones would be in a video of the full song.
  • Later on however, on October 17th, 2025, he announced his second series in 2025 “help me draw” where Dave draws monsters via sounds, however there’s a twist, when he has drawn the monsters he puts them into a game called “ACC” in unity, where all the monsters he drawn are stored with their sounds, forming an entirely new song.
