“ | First created alongside Monster World cornerstones the Breeding Structure and Nursery, the Crucible uses the ancient objects of power known as Keys to literally ‘unlock’ the evolutionary potential within singing Monsters, the inside of the miraculous structure works like a sauna, getting hotter and hotter as more Relics are melted down. Once there is sufficient heat, the elements interact with the alchemical quality of keys and the crucible triggers the transformation from a Common to a Rare. The process is not infallible - sometimes, multiple attempts are required, but the unfurling of elemental flags will help. | ” |
— In-game description |
“ | The capabilities of the Crucible have been maximized in this Enhanced upgrade. A bucket of sizzling Relics is poised to raise the Heat to a whole new level, gilded embellishments abound, and a red carpet welcomes hopeful Monsters aiming to achieve the highest form of their Evolution - the Epic! Be warned: the Enhanced Crucible must raise its Heat level to extremes in order to facilitate Epic evolution - and if it doesn't work the first time, all of the residual Heat dissipates instantly and an Elemental Flag furls! Additionally, more Keys than ever before will be needed to stabilize these evolutions… the power of the condensed ancient stardust from the Big Clangor contained within each Key will be pushed to its limit! | ” |

“ | The Crucible is locked for now. This is how Rare and Epic Fire Monsters will come into being on Amber Island. | ” |

The Crucible is an exclusive Structure on Amber Island which can evolve Fire Monsters and Viveine and turn them into Rare Monsters and Epic Monsters using Relics and Keys. Unlike on other Islands, the Rare and Epic forms of Amber Island's Monsters are always available to be evolved, provided that you already own the Common form.
Unlocking[]
The Crucible becomes fully unlocked once you have 15 different Monsters on Amber Island. The Crucible will go through two earlier stages where it breaks free from its Amber: when you have 5 different Monsters, and when you have 10 different Monsters. However, no functionality becomes unlocked during those stages. The Crucible can be upgraded to the Enhanced Crucible for 50 . This unlocks the ability to Evolve both Common and Rare Monsters to their Epic forms as they become available.
Evolving Monsters[]
Evolving Rares[]
Common Monsters can evolve into Rare Monsters via the Crucible at level 4. Increasing the heat level of the Crucible and feeding the Monster to a higher level will increase the chances of successful evolution.
There are 3 levels of heat, each costing Relics. Increasing the heat by 1 level requires 2 Relics, increasing it by 2 levels requires 6 Relics, and increasing it by 3 levels requires 12 Relics. If you have a heat level of 2 or 3, some heat will be left over for the next attempt. Level 3 will leave 2 levels, while level 2 will leave 1 level. You can keep this residual heat for further free evolution attempts, use it to reach level 3 heat at a discount, or can be removed and converted into Relics or an unfurled flag, using the “Retrieve” button.
You need as many keys as the number of elements to evolve a Monster into its Rare form.
If an attempt were to fail, a flag will unfurl, making a certain element more likely to evolve. The flag that unfurls is decided randomly. If an attempt were to succeed, the flags of that Monster's elements will furl back up.
Evolving Epics[]
The Crucible's Enhanced upgrade unlocks evolutions into Epic Monsters. These Evolutions cost 24 relics and an additional 4 keys on top of the base key cost. Previously unfurled flags can still boost the chances to evolve Monsters into Epics. Failed attempts at Epic evolutions will not unfurl flags, but will instead furl a random flag. Successful evolution of an Epic will furl all of the flags that were previously unfurled.
A good strategy to evolve Epics is to intentionally fail evolving low level Monsters into Rares by setting the heat level to as low as possible to unfurl the flags to boost the odds of successful evolution. It is recommended to use Kayna for this strategy, since it requires the least amount of keys and takes the least amount of time for an attempted evolution.

Notes[]
- Upon the initial release of Amber Island, a glitch enabled some players to select the encased Crucible as if it were a regular Structure and freely move it around the Island.
- In Version 3.5.0, it was hinted that the Crucible should be coming in the near future, which happened in Version 3.6.0.
- In Version 3.6.0, there is a glitch where Monsters still sing when attempting evolution in the crucible.
- In Version 3.6.0, you are able to enter the info page when a Monster is in the Crucible, allowing you to level it up or rename it whilst it is inside.
- The act of placing monsters inside of a structure with a random chance for them to evolve into a Rare Monster is similar to the Prism Gate in Dawn of Fire. Adding more relics has a higher chance of evolving the Monster just like adding Prisments has a higher chance of turning the Monster into a Prismatic Monster.
- The flags on the Crucible mostly resemble the skies of their corresponding islands. The Fire Element's flag could possibly be resembling that of Tribal Island, although it is lacking the gradient that Tribal Island's sky has.
- When a Common/Rare Monster successfully evolves into a Rare/Epic, it maintains the level it had before entering the Crucible.
- A successfully evolved Monster also maintains the name it had before entering the Crucible.
- However, a Common Monster with Costumes that evolves in the Crucible will lose all of its Costumes when it successfully evolves.
- If a Monster is muted before entering the Crucible, it will remain muted after leaving, even if the evolution is successful.
- Strangely, a level 20 Monster will still emit particles whilst it is in the Crucible.
- Monsters will release any currency they have on them (namely Relics) before entering the Crucible.
- Although the Crucible's description states it was a cornerstone created alongside the Breeding Structure and Nursery, it does not appear in Dawn of Fire, and neither do Rare or Epic Monsters.
- Monster Handler-Matt explained in MSM Live July 2022 that the Crucible is not present in DoF because the Crucible is an exclusive feature of the Higher Plane. The Higher Plane was not accessible back during the time of DoF.
