These are some prototype images from Big Blue Bubble, showing early versions of the Monsters and other game features as the game was being developed. While some physical features of the Monsters have remained in the released game, others have been modified from their prototype versions.
Tweedle Concepts: The left concept was nicknamed "Flynecone" by the Monster-Handlers, and on the right is Owlesque. Flynecone's wings were reused for Rare Congle; Owlesque's horns were reused for Rare Tweedle, and its face was reused for Grumpyre.
Some sketches for Tweedle.
Concept art for Tweedle, Grumpyre, and Cybop. Grumpyre being here implies it was originally drafted as a Natural Monster.
Two vastly different concepts of Noggin.
A Mammott prototype. The name "Sea Sharp" was proposed for this Monster during the game's development.
Codenamed the Operah Twins, they aren't a concept for one specific monster. Although, it was used for Maw's molars, Mammott's yellow eyes, Furcorn's fur, and the hands used for Pummel and Spunge.
Another version of the Operah Twins. This specific design was referenced in the new 4.3.0 Map as a form of Monstrous Calligraphy, depicting a fearsome creature from parts unknown.
A nearly finished Furcorn design with a walk cycle.
Some concept art for Furcorn, closely resembling the Operah Twins.
Concepts of PomPom, T-Rox, Scups, and Thumpies. According to file names shown in the video "Making a Monster with My Singing Monsters - What it Takes to Design a Video Game", the PomPom concept was named "gal_tails" and the Scups concept was named "fwoot".
A early version of Scups without a mouth; which may have been an inspiration for Rare Scups.
Prototype Egg for Scups, as shown in the Goals menu.
Floot Fly, a scrapped Monster that would've had Quarrister's elements. It was later repurposed into the Single Element Faerie monster with a slightly different design.
Knucklehead concept art, originally envisioned for My Singing Monsters: Dawn of Fire. The drawing was made on April 15th, 2014, and its original image was named "monster_cubehands.png".
Blipsqueak's concept art, which was vastly different from the final design.
Screemu concept art.
An "unpainted/early/plain Screemu created on January 14, 2016".
A composite of screenshots from "Making a Monster with My Singing Monsters - What it Takes to Design a Video Game" showing various concepts of Rare Astropod, which released on September 20th, 2023.
A lower quality but unobstructed image of 6 concept arts for Rare Astropod.
Many different Maggpi colors and designs. The colors from C, and the arms and feet from H, were used for Maggpi.
Early concept for the Werdos, originally called Lyriks. Unlike Werdos, one unique Lyrik was intended to appear on each of the five Natural Islands. They’ve also been (possibly) reused for BeMeebEth.
Early concept of Plant Island (codenamed Songster Island) with several early Monsters. The orange 'things' are actually leaves. The island itself was reused for the Spirit of Creation decoration.
A larger view of the early Plant/Songster Island concept.
Concept art of an unknown Monster. Its design bears similarities with the Tribal Island critter.
A very early concept, possibly Tweedle due to its shared features with the "Flynecone" concept. It was later used for Yuggler.
Air Island with many monster concepts.
Concept art of what is seemingly Plant Island, featuring a full body view, as well as a picture with the mouth open.
Concept art of the My Singing Monsters logo.
Concept art of what is seemingly an early Loading Screen.
Concept art for an unknown Monster, from the "Making a Monster with My Singing Monsters - What it Takes to Design a Video Game" YouTube video.
The unused Structure seen in a screenshot on the Dawn of Fire Google Play Store download page. Its design is found in the ruins of Mirror Water Island.
An early version of Relics. This design was scrapped to avoid players wondering why the eggs do not hatch. It was later used as part of the Eggs-Travaganza Island Skin design.
