My Singing Monsters Wiki

The statuesque Clavavera cuts a dashing figure wherever it appears, but it's best-known for the unique effects that the sound of its special, dexterous fingers can produce. When struck together, the bright, clean tone this Clackula relative makes can cause all those in the vicinity to perceive and interact with Monster ancestors from bygone eras. The spirits, who have passed on to the 'Beat Hereafter,' recount stories of glorious songs of yore and reassure their descendants that any Monster, living or departed, can tune in to the 'heartbeat of forever' if they're only listening. The Clavavera keeps the exact nature of the Beat Hereafter mostly to itself.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Clavavera is a Seasonal Monster that celebrates the Beat Hereafter season and is found on Bone Island and Seasonal Shanty. It was added alongside Rare Yuggler on October 27th, 2021 during Version 3.3.2. As a Seasonal Monster, it is only available at certain times. It is best obtained by breeding Clackula and Withur. By default, its breeding time is 22 hours and 11 minutes long. Clavavera does not have a high Coin production.

Clavavera can either be teleported to Seasonal Shanty once fed to level 15, or bred with Punkleton and Schmoochle. Clavavera has a low Coin production compared to other Monsters on Seasonal Shanty. The Goal for placing a Clavavera on Seasonal Shanty rewards the player with 5 Diamonds.

Samples:

Higher pitched (Memory Game; Seasonal Shanty):

Lower pitched (Bone Island):

Instrument: Wood claves

Clavavera produces a wood claves sound. On Bone Island, it also plays a deeper pitched sound.

VSTs[]

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

Breeding[]

Clavavera can only be bred for a limited time during the Beat Hereafter season on Bone Island, or anytime on Seasonal Shanty.

Note that breeding Seasonal Monsters is not 100% guaranteed to get you the Monster. You might have to try multiple times.

(Best choice, 100% chance of a Clavavera if Rare Clavavera is unavailable)

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Clavavera, like all Seasonals are only available during their own season, a weekend Out-of-Season event (6 months apart) and the Anniversary Month Celebration. It is also available to breed at any time on Seasonal Shanty.

NOTE: Clavavera can only be bred or purchased on Bone Island during the available dates. Any Clavaveras on Bone Island that are obtained during that time will stay unless they are sold. However, as stated before, Clavavera can be bought or bred on Seasonal Shanty at any time, though it is discounted when it is available on other islands. Clavavera is also obtainable via weekly Scratch Tickets on Bone Island.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Clavavera:

Egg Consumption[]

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Clavavera eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Clavavera eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Also note that Seasonal Monsters, like Clavavera, cannot be zapped from Seasonal Shanty.

Notes[]

  • Clavavera's name comes from claves, its instrument, and calavera de caramelo, the Spanish name for candy skull.
    • As stated by Big Blue Bubble, "Clavavera's appearance is inspired by the figure of La Catrina, and named as a portmanteau of the instrument ‘claves’, a pair of wooden sticks which create a bright, piercing clack, and calavera, the candy skull decorations for which Día de los Muertos is so well known. Special attention was paid to respect cultural aspects like the inclusion of accurately-colored cempasúchil (the iconic flowers) in the character’s crown to keep it more aligned with traditional depictions. Its multicolored feathers have been shed like leaves in autumn, replaced with a lace-like veil and branches to create a radiating and crown-like effect."[1]
  • Clavavera's original design received some backlash due to the colors being considered offensive to Mexican culture, which BBB consulted with the Latino community. It was redesigned on October 26th, 2022 upon the release of the first Beat Hereafter event to more accurately represent Día de los Muertos. Its egg and portrait were updated as well to match the redesign.
    • This puts Clavavera among the Monsters to receive a design change after their release (others include Hawlo and Jam Boree).
  • Clavavera is:
    • The first and only Seasonal Monster to arrive within another Seasonal event.
    • The only 1x1 Seasonal Monster.
    • The first former-Seasonal Shanty-exclusive Auxiliary Seasonal to go to its forever home.
    • The only Seasonal Monster released before Ffidyll to play at Spurrit's verse.
  • Clavavera's bio also reveals that there is an afterlife that monsters undergo after passing away, called the Beat Hereafter. Through its song, nearby living monsters become able to communicate with other monsters there. What else is known about this afterlife seems to be kept a secret by Clavavera.
    • It also reveals a spiritual ability that all monsters have to listen to a "Heartbeat of Forever."
  • Clavavera was first teased on the Spooktacle 2021 loading screen (above & below the "er" in "Monsters").
  • At release, Clavavera's legs did not move at all during its playing animation. This was later changed during Festival of Yay 2021.
  • Due to its breeding combination only consisting of the Earth, Water, and Bone elements, Clavavera would be with Withur on any Island with standard breeding mechanics.
