- This article is about the material in the Monster World's lore, for the path decoration, see: Bubblerite Path
Bubblerite is a rock-like material found throughout the Monster World and is an essential aspect of everyday life there[1]. It has pores and bubbles throughout the rock- hence the name. When the bubbles are popped, it can fracture the rock into pieces and stain clothes[2]. The bubbles are strong enough to be stepped on[3], but over time will start to break down. Bubblerite will change colors to a vibrant red when exposed to the air of Fire Haven[4], perhaps due to the heat or smoke of the Living Core.
In ancient times, the Colossals created sculptures out of Bubblerite and brought them to life using the process of Life-Formula. This means that many early Monsters were made of Bubblerite, including Monculus and the Ethereals. The Primordial Monsters Lowb, Fandhul, Bogle, Droah, and Tunefor notably appear in Dawn of Fire and the Life-Formula island skin on Ethereal Island as Bubblerite statues, being scrapped Single-Element Naturals made by an unnamed Colossal and brought back to life by Zarroë on the Ethereal Islets.
During the end of the Dawn of Fire era, Bubblerite was used to construct the Coloss-Eye structures. The Monsters during the modern day were able to Bubblerite date (similar to carbon dating in the Human World) the structures to be around the same age as Monstroglyphics and Vessels.[citation needed]
In modern times, Monsters carve Bubblerite to create footpaths. They also dye the Bubblerite into many different colors using things like Deedge earwax, moldy toe gunk from Ethereals, and moss from Entbrat horns. The Monsters also used shavings of Bubblerite to construct Mount Knottshurr.
When designing the Wublins, the Wubbox decided to craft the Monsters out of Bubblerite and then used the Spark of Life to wake them up.
