Bonkers go bonkers for thumpin’ on stumpies! Uh, we mean “stumps.” The understated sapling that the Bonkers thumps their fuzzy heads against is no Great Tree, but hey - they’ll take what they can get! It still emanates a particular magic that compels Bonkers to beat up on bark. While certainly befuddling to us, this behavior is only natural to the other inhabitants of the Bonkers’ percussive home dimension.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Bonkers is a Double-Element Magical Monster that is found on Psychic Island and Magical Nexus. It was added on September 25th, 2019 during Version 2.3.2. It is best obtained by breeding Potbelly and Theremind. By default, its breeding time is 9 hours long. As a Double-Elemental, the Bonkers do not have a high coin production. The Goal for placing your first Bonkers rewards the player with 25,000 Coins and 1 Diamonds.

On Magical Nexus, Bonkers is obtained by Transposing by spending 2,000,000 Coins once fed to level 18. Its Transposing time is 1 day, 3 hours long. Unlike Psychic Island, Bonkers does not produce currency on Magical Nexus.

Song[]

Audio Sample:

Instrument: Slapaphone/Boomwhackers/PVC pipes

The Bonkers hit their tree to make a sound that's similar to boomwhackers. According to their concept art, the Bonkers play PVC pipes. They play in the second half of the Psychic Island song with Kayna, Poppette, Rootitoot, etc.

VSTs[]

Virtual Studio Technology is an audio plugin software that has libraries of sound effects and synthesized instruments. Within these libraries are SoundFonts, which are the individual effects and instruments themselves. The Monster-Handlers utilize several VSTs to create the sounds of instrumental and sometimes vocal Monsters.

Breeding[]

Bonkers can be bred with the elements Plant (Plant Element) and Psychic (Psychic Element). The breeding combinations include:

Note that breeding a Double-Element Psychic Elemental is not a guaranteed success, as with all other Fire/Magical Double-Elementals.

Bonkers can also be bred in a breeding failures. Some combinations that result in a Bonkers in a breeding failure include:

(Best choice, 100% chance of a Bonkers if Rare Bonkers is unavailable)

(Good choice, very small chance of getting Gloptic, may result in Epic Boo'qwurm if available.)

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Bonkers:

Monsters Who Like It[]

The following Monster(s) will increase their happiness by 25% when being placed near Bonkers or when Bonkers and a Unity Tree are on the Island. These may or may not also be Bonkers's likes as well:

Egg Consumption[]

Main article: Zapping

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Celestials and Vessels can be used to "dispose of" Bonkers eggs immediately, instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Celestials and Vessels; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Bonkers eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month.

Notes[]

  • The Bonkers' name comes from the word "bonkers", meaning "crazy". Additionally, "bonk" means to hit something, or it could refer to a "bonk" sound of hitting something.
  • The shorter Bonker gets more and more beat up as it plays.
  • The Bonkers are the only Double-Element Plant monster that doesn't use a mouth to make music, since they don't have mouths.
  • The Bonkers' description states that they come from a "percussive home dimension", as well as mentioning the Great Tree, meaning that they most likely come from the Thumpieverse.
    • This was later confirmed with the release of their Rare variant during Cloverspell 2024.
  • The Bonkers are the only monster to use sounds from a free library/VST, other than Rare Wubbox.
  • According to a piece of concept art, the Bonkers were originally going to be called Whaps.
  • At the end of this video by Josh Harmon, there is a new track and animation for the Rare Bonkers. This was revealed to be a teaser for Magical Nexus.
