Description[]

Adult Hornacle is an adult Celestial Monster representing the Water Element and the month of January. It was added alongside Rare Whiz-bang on December 27th, 2023, during version 4.1.2, though it was not obtainable until January 1st, 2024. It is obtained by ascending an awakened young Hornacle during the month of January by zapping all of the required eggs and then using 10 Keys (Keys). Unlike young Celestials, adults can earn Keys as well.

Ascension[]

Adult Hornacle is obtained by zapping all of the required eggs into a Hornacle and then using 10 Keys (Keys) for it to ascend. It is only available for the month of January (31 days). If the inventory is not completed by that time, Hornacle will remain as a young Monster and all eggs inside are lost. Unlike Rare and Epic Wublins, who are obtained in a similar method, Hornacle remains awake and playing as its inventory is filled. Eggs can be zapped from Mirror Islands instead of, or in conjunction with Natural and Magical Islands.

Filling In[]

Like other Celestials, Adult Hornacle can instead be filled in with Diamonds. Each egg can be filled in for 75 for regular eggs, with the amount for Flex Eggs varying by its type. Adult Hornacle requires a total of 3,375 for all eggs to be filled.

Since all non-Flex eggs have an equal Diamond fill cost, it is best to save your Diamonds for the Monsters that are harder to obtain. And oftentimes, it is cheaper to speed up eggs to zap from the Breeding Structure instead.

Wildcards may be used for filling eggs in Adult Hornacle's inventory. However, it's best to save them for harder to obtain Monsters, such as Seasonals or Flex Eggs.

Income[]

Adult Hornacle, like all other adult Celestials, will produce Coins (), Diamonds (), Treats (), Shards (), and Keys (), but at no specified rate, although always less than a day. Multiple adult Hornacles may produce any of these Currencies independently from each other.

Strategy[]

Most of the Natural Monsters required have similar requirements as the young Hornacle. The only difference is that Toe Jammer is not required. This covers all of the Monsters with the Water Element that adult Hornacle needs.

Carillong is arguably the most challenging Monster to obtain in the inventory, even more so compared to other Seasonals, since it is only available to obtain on Magical Sanctum, where Monsters have comparably long breeding times, and you cannot zap eggs from Seasonal Shanty. Crescendo Moon occurs very late in the month, so it's a much better option to obtain a Carillong egg during the "The More The Merrier" event when every Monster is present for a long period of time, and leave it in the Nursery until January when it's able to be zapped. Carillong is also available during a "Almost In Season" promotion that occurs the final week of January, which would be a good time to get one before it's too late.

The Rares are a tough case, as there is no concrete telling as to when a Rare Monster could be available, and unlike Rare Wublins, the Rares are lost after the timer ends. The promotion "Tidal Wave" will likely occur every January, so for candidates for the Flex Eggs, most Rares on Plant Island have the Water Element, so consider Rare Entbrat, Rare T-Rox, Rare Bowgart and Rare Pummel (which you may obtain accidentally while filling in the other inventory slots). It is also worth noting that shortly before January, the promotion "The More The Merrier" will likely occur every December, which features every Limited Time Monster, which would be a good opportunity to breed the Flex Eggs.

Adult Hornacle is the only zapping Monster in the game that requires an egg that can only be zapped from Magical Sanctum, that being Carillong.
Adult Hornacle was the first Monster to release in 2024.
- It was also released the earliest in a year out of any Monster in the original game, releasing on the 1st of January, beating Rare Clamble by a day.
- Although, it was added to the Book of Monsters 5 days before, so an argument can be made that it wasn't actually released, but instead only made available on January 1st.
According to "The Exploratory Compendium of Monstrology" with Monster-Handler Ally (S02E01), a theory as to how Hornacle lost its leg is that a hungry juvenile Glubber Titan latched onto Hornacle's leg and ate it while Hornacle was searching for the Gift of Glub. Hornacle, being part starfish, thought the limb would grow back, and didn't try to fight it off.
