Dipsters. A LOT of people hate 'em. And even for those who don't hate them, I don't think I've seen very many people who really like them. Personally, I don't have a huge problem with them, but I do find that they can break the tone of a song with their high pitched vocals. More often than not I actually like the melody they bring, I just wish that they sounded different.
Anyways, I had this idea after dipsters released on sanctum, since I LOVE the melody they bring but still feel like their vocals clash with the tone of the song. I've been referring to this imaginary update in my brain as "Taking Root."
The basic idea is that after you have one of each dipster on an island, you can spend starpower (I'll explain why later) to bury the 7 of them simultaneously. If you have multiples of one kind of dipster, they would need to be buried separately later; this would only affect one batch/full set of them at a time.
After you've buried a set of them, you'd need to zap a TON of eggs of the island's single element monster to them, akin to how you do a wubbox. For instance, on plant island you'd need to zap a bunch of potbellys. (On islands like sanctum and ethereal without a base element, it could be an even mix of single-elements). The idea of this is that it takes a lot of time, rather than actually being difficult like wublins/celestials. There is no time limit.
Once you have finished zapping however many monsters needed, the energy from the island's natural element will have seeped into the dipsters, allowing them to take deeper root in that particular island and emerging from the dirt in rare forms. This is why I imagine starpower is the currency that'd be used, since its often used for rare monsters.
The part of this that "fixes" them is that on each island, they emerge with different appearances to match that island's element, and sing the same base melody but with different voices that better match the vibe of the island's song. On some islands they might have better vocals, on others their vocals may have turned instrumental. It'd be an update that'd release in waves, likely only one or two islands at a time.
This is actually quite similar to how epic wubboxes function, so it'd even make sense for all this to be for epic dipsters, I'm only using rare forms atm since we don't even have those yet. I don't know, I just think that this would be a fun new late-game mechanic that fixes a group of monsters I've seen so many people take issue with!
TLDR; Spend starpower to bury dipsters, zap single-element eggs to them, they emerge in rare forms unique to each island, and they sing the same melody but in voices that better suit that particular island!
