I've been holding onto this idea for... too long.
Lore reason:
The date is August 1st, 2025, the first Celestial has finally ascended to its final form. The Elder Scaratar from all those years ago has returned, with the rest of them soon to follow. But the full elemental potential of the Celestials have resulted in a peculiar phenomenon. The elemental energies brought on by the Elder Celestial have caused premature evolution of the monsters who represent the respective element, including a previously undiscovered boss variant from each. These include the Rarethereal Quads, the Epic Fire Quints, Epic Mimic, and the Wublin Island Epic Wubbox. Supposedly, the Ethereal Quads are supposed to evolve into Epic just like the rest of them, but their sheer instability causes the evolution to only go as far as Rares (For now).
Non-lore reason:
I want more to look forward to with these Elder Celestials. Let’s compare them to another monster that went from DoF to the main game, Mimic.
Things to look forward to with Mimic on Fire Oasis include:
Old design but a different art style.
Entirely new sounds and animations.
A new environment for the monster.
The lore reason as to where they were after the Dawn Of Fire.
As for the Elder Celestials:
Old design but a different art style.
New Animations.
Technically new sounds, but they’re sounds we already know, and they’re only new to the specific designs. Whereas Mimic’s Oasis sounds, despite Mimicking other monsters, are sounds we’ve never heard at all.
Basically the same environment as Starhange.
We’ve known about the Elder Celestials whereabouts after the Dawn Of Fire for years.
Not to mention the mechanical difference. Mimic, while pricey, is the simplest possible way of obtaining a monster. Celestials are Zappers. Not to mention you have to get through three layers that progressively get harder, and at the end of all that, you get a barely new design. I don’t blame people for not bothering with Celestial Island. Giant lore fans, older players, and collectors are the only people who would care about getting Elder Celestials, and I’m all three of those.
Of course, I can’t leave here without expressing my distaste with alternative ideas. New Sounds? Absolutely not. It's the same issue I have with both Major and Minor Paironormals on the same island whenever we get Paranormal Island. Two monsters with almost the same instrument playing at the same time? That’s such a messy idea. Even if they’re just minor changes to the same sounds, that’s almost worse. At least with the Colossals very minor additions, the only challenge for getting them is patience. Both of these ideas share the same big problem. I don’t like the idea of needing more than one of each Celestial for the full song, because it goes against the lore of there only being one of each Celestial. I’m 95% sure the specific islands songs are one of those aspects of the game that are present in the lore instead of just being for the sake of gameplay. They’re not gonna make the younglings just shut up as soon as the elders are placed. I believe the mysterious CI Colossal waking up is the only song addition it's even gonna get. What I’m getting at is, there really aren’t many good long-term solutions, so at the very least, I want a short term solution, and I think the new Boss variants are the best we have.
If you're wondering if the Epic Fire Quads even line up with Quintessences and Fire With Fire promotions, they do partially. It's hard to determine right now because while the cast of each is always the same, the start and end date is a bit dynamic. Going off 2024, Epic Mimic will fit into their Fire With Fire sale, Epic Drummidary releases during the Anniversary Month reprise, Epic Bowhead releases during the Festival Of Yay reprise, and even if it doesn't they appear in the following sale, Epic Tuskski and Gnarls are both about a month early, and Epic Candelavra is two months in between two reprises. But at the end of the day, does it really matter? The Epic Fire Expansion monsters are not directly a part of the Fire With Fire sales. They come out at the same time, but they end sooner, and don’t appear in the promotional image with the Commons and Rares. BBB is no stranger to breaking release patterns nearing the end of an era in order to put certain monsters on fitting dates. Yes, this will cause Epic Fire Quints to start before Epic Fire Quads finish, which didn't happen with the Rares. But come on, every class has tier overlap in variants, including the Fires.
Now what about the Epic Wublin Island Wubbox in July 2026? Does the timeline add up? Well, if were starting with the first five Epic Wublins this month, and the rest come once a month, they’ll end in June 2026. And yeah, we didn't get WI Rare Wubbox until three months after the last Rare Wublin, but I think this way, it's more akin to the release timeline of the Common Wublins. Also, we probably only need to box like five of them. And there's nothing stopping them from having the next few sets of Epic Wublins to come in pairs so that's there's more time in between.
We still have four months until August, and with the Ethereal Epic Wubbox released, there’s nothing holding Rarethereal Workshop back from beginning with one or two triples before Rare Oogiddy (WVTP v9 coming soon btw).
This is the first time I've agreed with the community that a new monster look fanmade. Like not as a insult of course, these are phenomenal, but if I didn't actually play the game, I wouldn't think they are real.
