Cuporeal, the Possession Paironormal
Info:
The Cuporeal is meek and shy by itself, but it has the ability to take control of inanimate objects.
The Curios of the Carnival are the perfect host for its powers. It will choose a sturdy drawer or chest and turn it into its new body.
The Curio amplifiers the Cuporeal’s vocal prowess and allows it to join the jaunty chorus.
However, the Curios are not just lifeless beings; they’re actually alive!
The host cabinet, angered by its resident, regains control of its body and kicks out the Cuporeal.
The Curio, weakened and Ruined by the Cuporeal, can barely produce a melody.
Name origin: cupboard + corporal
Elements: Control, Ruin
Sound: Vocals (deeper and raspier in Minor form)
Gaevull, the Justice Paironormal
Info:
The Gaevull’s wisened status makes it the ideal choice for a peacekeeper.
Whenever there’s a squabble or a dispute, the Justice Paironormal is summoned to sort out the situation, guiding everyone along with the soft sounds of its instrument. It makes sure that everyone is okay and that the case is fair.
The other Paironormals respect it deeply, and they tend to put it on a pedestal.
While some Gaevulls are simply flattered by this, others realize just how much power and authority they have.
The outcomes of disagreements become far more in favor of the Gaevull. It bans Cupcakes from those it dislikes, lets off those it enjoys, and encourages changes to be made that benefit itself and only itself. Nobody bats an eye; they trust the Gaevull and this must be what’s fair
Its services are still available, however…but if you’re not willing to cough up the diamonds, you’re probably gonna get the short end of the stick.
Name origin: corruption of “gavel”
Elements: Control, Depths
Instrument: Vibraphone
Ticktock, the Nostalgia Paironormal
Info:
While the Ticktock’s namesake noises are a key part of its identity, the Nostalgia Paironormal’s most iconic trait is its longing for the past.
Every memory, every past experience, everything it has been through is remembered through a positive light.
It tells its stories to the other Carnival denizens, always rocking a big smirk.
The rose-tinted glasses it wears are its lifeline, however. They have a tendency to warp and distort the past and make it seem all hunky-dory.
Without them, the Ticktock can only focus on the negatives: the mistakes, the embarrassment, the pain and fear.
Its body may continue to go forward, but the Ticktock’s face and soul are forever stuck in the past—yet another cruel reality of Paironormal Carnival.
Name origin: onomatopoeia of clock sounds
Elements: Hoax, Depths
Instrument: Clock noises
Scrapopod, the Salvage Paironormal
Info:
The costume designer of the Carnival, the Scrapapod is an expert recycler.
It finds old, unused metal pieces and constructs an armor-like structure that it wears around its body.
A gooey substance is harvested from the Scrapapods skin, which is then used as an adhesive to glue the individual parts together.
A Sctapapod costume is very durable, and can be used for many moons. But perhaps it is too durable?
Prolonged periods of time wearing the suit can lead to it compressing onto the Scrapapod, and it sticks to the goo it secretes.
The Scrapapod has not mouth and cannot scream for help, and the other Paironormals only see its panicked gestures as it playing its part in the song.
Name origin: Scrap + Cephalopod
Elements: Ruin, Depth
Instrument: Shaking metals
Tubagob, the Transformation Paironormal
Info:
Slinking in the shadows of Paironormal Carnival is the Tubagob, the Transformation Paironormal.
A mischievous Monster, the Tubagob can shapeshift to replicate anything it wants, and it uses this power to fool and deceive others for fun.
At the end of the day, though, it reverts back into its scrawny, gobliny appearance to play its handmade instrument.
As it turns out, however, the Tubagob does not actually know its true form—a mystery that haunts it for eternity.
In a desperate attempt to find it, the Tubagob will attempt to turn into everything all at once, turning its body into a grotesque mess and its mind starved for leads. It becomes reserved, a never ending search its only goal.
The Tubagob can not only transform its body, but its mind as well.
Name Origin: Tuba + Goblin/Hobgoblin
Elements: Control, Hoax, Depths
Instrument: Tuba
Midaus, the Greed Paironormal
Info:
The Midaus is notable for its pure gold body, earning it the nickname “The Gold Giant.”
The Greed Paironormal has a constant desire for treasure, which it works hard to obtain. It absorbs them to make itself shinier.
The more glitzy and glamorous it appears, the more attention it gets, which it happily eats up.
If it gets too shiny, however, the gold cracks and no longer glitters. The other Paironormals stop paying attention to it.
Now hungry for attention, the Midaus resorts to stealing the belongings of others, causing an uproar and all eyes to be laid on it.
It is now considered a danger and must be restrained using strong chains. It is advised to not wander near it, as just looking at it drives the Midaus to want more, more, more.
Name origin: Midas + Au (chemical symbol for gold)
Elements: Control, Ruin, Depths
Instrument: Low Vocals.
Fortuneko, the Luck Paironormal
Info:
The Fortuneko’s unusual quirk of extreme luck comes in handy in its day-to-day life.
A potential trip becomes just a quick stutter, a rouge Curio misses it by a foot, a Treat dropped off the edge bounces back by some unexplainable force.
It’s an ability so useful that other Paironormals become green with envy over the Fortuneko, with some wishing it had the simple, lax lifestyle of one.
To the Luck Paironormal, however, it would rather be anything else.
Alongside its favorable odds, extreme misfortune follows it. Tiny inconveniences become annoyingly common and the Fortuneko must endure near-miss occurrences over and over again.
Even its signature luck ability is all up to chance, and one unfortunate incident can cause its fragile body to split. It just goes to show that one’s experience in life should never be based on the Spin Wheel.
Name origin: Fortune + Neko
Elements: Hoax, Ruin, Depths
Instrument: Handbell (deeper and distorted in Minor Form)
Reflexter, the Illusion Paironormal
Info:
Inventor of the miraculous Centri-Fugue, the Reflexter is an entertainer at heart and an entertainer in occupation.
Ringleader of the Carnival, the Illusion Paironormal uses its purple limbs to Transpose other Paironormals to the Carnival. With its newfound recruits, the Reflexter puts on a wonderfully wacky show for all to enjoy.
Its signature mirror tricks (which warp, wiggle, and widen those who look at it) are second only to the Modulation exclusive to the circus’ song, of which it manages, wowing those who see it.
The Centri-Fugue and its effects are very complex and are carefully managed by the Reflexter…but what happens when its creator succumbs to its power?
Catapulted into the Depths of Minor Mode, the Reflexter loses Control of the Centri-fugue. With no one to Mon it, it gets out of hand and starts Fuguing anyone and everyone.
With its mirror in Ruin, the Reflexter also starts to doubt itself, believing it, like all its tricks, is just a Hoax. It may sound cruel to some, but that’s just the way it is; on Paironormal Carnival, illusions elude you!
Name origin: Reflexive/Relect + Trickster
Elements: Control, Hoax, Ruin, Depths
Instrument: Orchestal hits + minor vocals
